I have nothing to do with Facebook or any of those other "life sharing" applications. I do have a collection of my favorite books, built up from mainly the internet archive. They are basically photocopies of real books so they duplicate more realistically the look and feel of a real book, as pdfs, so i don't need a kindle to read them. Kindle books don't respect typefaces and often leave out illustrations and photographs.

There are cheaper versions of Kindle. Mine is from 2010 (keyboard version) and I still use it now. I think there is a £60 version. It's a shame you haven't picked up a book in years. I think you should turn off all your notifications one night and try to start a book that your interested in. Books are amazing and people need to cherish them more but I agree modern life can get in the way of many things, relaxation being one.

Amazon only allows wordwise on kindle devices and some android devices and not on iOS. I don’t know why people claim it looks just like paper, I purchased one a few days ago and it doesn’t. The plastic screen feels weird despite 300 ppi. Wordwise is a must have and makes the purchase worth it and water resistance is also great. I purchased the paper white edition.

Kindles seems to get more expensive every year and offer very little over the previous model.

To be fair there are pros and cons to using an ereader or tablet on things such as weight, battery life, b&w/colour screen, screen size, storage, ease of holding, eye strain, readability in sunlight, waterproof/non waterproof etc. And of course many people only read real books and would not use a ereader or tablet. My mum has switched to a Kindle from real books because of failing eyesight as she can increase the size of the text on screen and can continue to be able to read. She is not able to use a tablet as she feels it's too complicated to use. So go for whatever fits your needs.

Good price. I wonder if the new ones will be reduced for Prime Day as they were last year.

My 1st post. £174.09 after 20% off warehouse deal. I think it’s a good deal.

I’m hoping to buy one on Black Friday, if you see one, please speak out!!!

I'm trying to decide if the oasis is worth £140 more than the paperwhite.

I had the Oasis and it's a very good price for the 32GB. It is a quality e-reader and feels great a real premuim build. I actually ended up selling it because the screen was too large for me and it is much less pocketable than a paperwhite. I have bought the new waterproof paperwhite and am happy with that for £89 Either reader is great it's really a question of which size you prefer. I would also say the paperwhite has a longer battery life. I love using mine for audio books as well 32GB is a huge storage for these things I only have the 8gb and can easily fit a couple of audio bibles on mine.

It’s already been updated and released recently. Has ipx8 water resistance. Currently £89.99 (including special offers).

I read that they are updating the paper white to be splash proof and a better screen so I assume the only difference between this other than the price will be the size.

Isn't this the 2016 model? It's the Kindle Oasis 1 right?

I splashed the cash a few months back. Far prefer the increased size and dimensions over the original kindle. Essentially does the same thing but is a nice product.

I have an iPhone 6 so not waterproof, not particularly bothered about keeping up with latest tech. As I said above I don’t use Audible, I don’t like the Kindle app on iPhone anyway - right now I save my hard copy books for bathtime, when I get the rare opportunity to have a nice relaxing bath! Can’t honestly say I never take my phone in the bath for browsing, I’m bored very careful :D

I assumed your phone is waterproof, as more and more of them are nowadays, then you can use the Audible app on your phone to play Audible books. This is how I use it at the moment. If you don't have a waterproof phone yet, I would buy a waterproof phone before I buy a waterproof Kindle. To be honest, I think Audible is easier to use on the phone, and you benefit more from having the phone waterproof.

Meaning, if you have a waterproof phone use the kindle app on it when bathing, I assume.

I've wanted one of these since it came out but there is just absolutely no way I will pay the price that they are asking for it. Based on it's limited set of uses (a mono screen ebook reader) I have no idea how they justify the price tag for this thing.... Hoping it moves past £150 soon so I can start to consider it.

Listed at £292 for used like new when I follow the link

Would love one but can't even justify the Voyager as my trusty old 3G keyboard still does me.

I love my Oasis but got it for £170, don't think I would pay this much for it. You have to really love reading but once you use one it's very hard to go back to a Paperwhite. One handed reading just feels very natural.

Ok I've contacted them. The other rep didn't actually put it through so it had to be authorised again .. Luckily they have done it.. I guess it helped me having a merlot cover on order. So that's good now. Cover bloody expensive for what it is, I had a feel of the black one in John Lewis it didn't even feel like leather and looked cheap.

My initial refund on the Oasis itself came through in a few hours, but I requested a gift card for that one to order the case with. The £20 on the case is showing on the order, but I haven't checked to see if it's made it on to my card yet.

It's because the Oasis has a new power saving features so it uses less battery when it's sleeping

I don't like the delay it takes to wake up on the oasis compared to voyage but what's a few sec

Is your refund showing ? may have to send a follow up email
