What happen to Nokia It came down from best phone manufacture to none.

Microsoft bought Nokia in 2013 for $7.2 billion , in possibly the most over priced aquisition in Techy history.
They realised this pretty quickly, and punted Nokia just 36 months later for a whopping 95% less than what they paid for it.
Since then, Nokia is in effect another Sharp, Toshiba etc, ie their name appears on products which usually have nothing to do with them except for the badge on the case and name on the box.

Also worth a watch when considering cheaper options! Glad I looked into it before buying one off Amazon. Fully aware mi box isn’t perfect but at least it’s an official product with full Netflix verification.

Yeah this video was amongst the views that helped push me to the Nokia 8010. I couldn't justify the price of a Nvidia Shield Pro, but didn't want a generic Chinese box either.

Could this be used as a Plex server?
    RoadmanPat's avatar
You can find a micro pc on ebay for less than this and it will be miles better for Plex. Look into Dell Optiplex 3050 Micro, thinkcentre m710q mini, prodesk 400 mini on ebay

kodi 4k hdr high bit rate no stutter?

Yes, especially on Coreelec. I have S905X3 boxes (this is an S905X4, they can play 120GB 4K HDR BD rips without issue). (edited)

Most cheap and mid-range TV's have low end CPU's resulting in terribly slow UI experiences regardless of the OS.
They also have very limited storage capacity for apps and data, often only 4GB and many have limited audio codec support.
I for example buy a TV based on the panel quality, OS be damned then connect something like a high end box eg. Nvidia Shield Pro. The result is a far better experience and I can take the box with me when I travel or move and just connect it via HDMI and have all my setup and content with me not needing to change anything on the TV.
As an example right now I am in a temp place for a few months, I have my Shield Pro with me and I am glad,.
They have a 50" QLED TCL here, TCL TV's are notorious for slow laggy UI's which this one has to the point it makes you wanna throw it out the window as you constantly mistype on the virtual keyboard or overshoot everything in the menu's because it takes two seconds to realize you pressed a button.
With my setup I do not have those problems. (edited)

Sideloading apks from anonymous vendors is really bad security practice.

Yes, unsurprisingly the sheild pro at £180 is a bit better than this, which is nearly half the price. Shocker!

How does it compare to shield
    loxell's avatar
    It doesn’t

I have the Nokia 8000 along with a shield tv pro and personally for my needs there's no difference. my needs are plex YouTube and playing roms. I would say though that I paid half that price and was half that price not long ago so dont know what's better with the 8010

Box sounds good, hard to find one that's Netflix certified. Normally ChigzTech reviews stuff like this but this one is absent?

It gets heat from me because they included an optical port. Had to source a mi box off eBay because needed that!

Just get a good intel Qnap nas
    ciaranmcw92's avatar
Different purpose for most no? This would be for streaming, NAS would be for your own content on Network right?

Too expensive, rather wait for offers on firestick 4k/ max , would love to try out the onn. google tv 4k streaming box it's $20 dollers in the US
    JAK's avatar
Got the Onn tv from US.It's pretty good , but everytime there's an update on the App I have to delete it and re-install it, also I cannot find it when I want to sideload Apps from my phone to the Onn tv as I do for my Amazon and Shield pro boxes...So I'm selling my Onn tv...Looking for another box, torn to get this Nokia or a Amazon fire 4k. The Shiled "tube" seems to lack usb connection for storage or Android remote control...

The A55 is a slightly upgraded A53 that was released 12 years ago so this seems like an expensive box with a cheap SOC.
    iamiguel's avatar
The A55 CPU core launched in 2017 & was used in flagship smartphones as recently as 2021 (Arm didn't release a new lower power (A5x) processor until 2021's A510)

It's still used in TVs & mobile devices to this day, there's nothing wrong with the processor.
  19. bertie_wooster's avatar
will it play d/l MKV videos via the USB ports?

Can you install audio processing on this, like Dolby Atmos for headphones, or similar VSS?
