AVOID any Hisense products. After sale/warranty department is a joke. I'm trying to get my 11 months washing machine fix under 24 month warranty. It's has been 4 months now and getting nowhere. Usuall crap answers: somebody will call you back, case is with our menager etc. etc. REad feedbacks on internet about Hisense TV's.

cossy3

Different sizes can be different quality and in Samsung’s case, even the same size screens can differ. You won’t go wrong with the 55” version of this that’s for sure.

rnr81

Think 55 is a little too big for where is going but I'll measure up, anything between 43 and 50 was where I was aiming, thanks for the reply I've also read where someone mentions a TV and someone then mentions a different size of the she model and gets a reply stating it's a different panel, does that mean 2 different sizes of the exact same model TV can actually made by different companies? Sorry to ask quite specific questions but it seems a bit of a minefield ;(

cossy3

The guys over on avforums say the 55 inch version of this Hisense is the best tv at the price range. They know what they’re talking about.

Thanks. I’m usually a Samsung fan but LG seem to be very popular now. Might try a LG 4K next

rnr81

+1 I've read plenty good reviews on here but if it's just based on "you get what you pay for" then I'm still wary I'm not sure of all the other brands which are genuine ones anymore or just a rebadge, I keep just checking between Sony Samsung and LG until I can find any more info on Hisense My Samsung full hd lasted 4 years fine, just sold it to make way for a 4k My LG is going strong still at 10 years old and was also the better of the 2, so it'll take a good sales pitch for me to buy Hisense

loxell

Yes it's got the SS-IPTV app. 😁

benb2k

Can anyone that has purchased this tv confirm if there is an iptv app on Hisense‘s app store please?

Smartguy1

I thought Hisense bought Sharp's R & D along with their factory in Mexico. You could be right also but last time I checked Toshiba were being made by Vestal in Turkey. They were getting a lot of stick a while ago hiding their brand under the Panasonic name. At one point some of the Panasonic cheaper models were made by Vestal. Some of the TV's were terrible but I do remember seeing a vestal 4k TV with a Panasonic badge next to a similar priced Samsung. Surprisingly if I had been buying that day I would not have bought the Samsung based on picture quality.

Smartguy1

Richer sounds website states 50hz. Hisense website states 120. Don't want to concern anyone but I bought an LG TV which stated on the LG website it had its own Unique IPS panel. It didnt as it had one manufactured by AU Optronics and if you read the manufacturers terms and conditions it says they deserve the right to amend the spec. Don't always believe what you read.

hbo86

Not long to wait. AHH fun times.. looks like richer sounds are sold out now

Still interesting some lm860v boards on ebay

Ap0100L

Motherboard and manual. + courage and DIY skills. I am currently looking for a smashed LG 49lm860 and successor. Got several clients and myself to be a lucky owner of one. Although found that this could be upgraded a bit. As YouTube & other (flash based) apps stopped being supported at some point, but got some rumours that guys in Russia upgraded motherboard. Panel of LM860 LG is awesome.

"local dimming" its basically the same as QLED on the samsungs which is an attempt at matching LG's OLED technology on the cheap on an OLED screen signals can be sent to specific individual leds to brighten or darken the screen picture in a specific location on screen on QLED or ULED the signals are sent to a group of leds to brighten or darken according to the signals from the source blueray/dvd/tv broadcast/video game it comes under the term "local dimming"

Bought this TV and been using it for a couple of weeks now - have to say I’m blown away by it for the price. Sound is excellent, great build quality and picture is better than the more expensive 55” Sony that I bought two weeks before. Oh, and the Smart TV is way better and far more snappy than that of the Sony. Would not hesitate to recommend.

The flamingo were 4K YouTube vids

shawnbrophy315

shawnbrophy315

So took the plunge and bought one - very happy with it sound quality is excellent- lacks bass that a surround sound would give but - but on 14 or 15 out of 100 it’s plenty loud !!!! The picture is remarkably good- was getting some strange pixelation when things moved quickly but turned off - quite a few settings (motion and blur related) and solved this. The menu is easy to navigate - The display does have bright spots or sections when trying to display grey scale but tbh most do this - it’s not a uniform grey etc Also does a good job of upscaling standard tv off sky and bbc I player. I’m still using standard v1.4 hdmi leads but will get some 2.0 and see if any difference

Not sure whether to get this or http://www.argos.co.uk/product/8249667. It's for my elderly parents so think 4k TV would be pointless. They do use HD though, which one do you think would be best?

vinnyV2591

Pleased you got it sorted. I don’t think the EPG is much worse than most TVs although I have no idea how to record although I assume you need an external storage device. Yep... I agree that for the money it is absolutely spot on and you would be pushed to beat it.

Shaheel

Thanks for your reply! I had looked past the normal channels but no luck. I ended up factory resetting the TV and after scanning was able to find the HD channels so all good now, although the channel order is quite annoying. The EPG interface in general is quite bad on this TV I think. You're unable to filter channels by category, HD channels are way down the list and scheduled recording of TV shows is far less fluid than it could be. I tried to set up a recurring recording of Match of the Day but rather than letting you pick a show to record each week, the EPG only let's you record a specific time, which isn't helpful when it's a show which doesn't start at the same time each week. It definitely wouldn't change my mind about buying this TV as I usually watch streaming services anyway, but is something to bare in mind for anyone thinking to buy who does use Freeview a lot.

I was lucky enough to win the 55” version in a Hisense Fifa competition and I would have gladly paid for what is a cracking piece of kit. Picture is as good as models double the price. Sound is very good, especially on Sports mode. With some tweaking of settings the picture/sound would satisfy the majority of sceptics. I get the Hisense naysayers but the company is making a foothold in the UK market with some excellent above entry level TVs. They are trying to shake up the market and give the high end makers something to think about.

If I have about £500 and am after 49-55 inch TV ... What would be the best option out there ... No gaming, no need for a curve TV as at the end of a long room Best picture and sound quality possible - as probably won't have a sound bar ...

gavin2

seen a lot of advertising about Hisense ... are they any good ?

hardstylemw

I would suggest the Samsung 49nu7100 is better and also about £50 cheaper with code from co-op

hardstylemw

Not being funny, but your average Joe will only really write a negative review if something goes wrong with the TV. They aren't likely to pick up on the smaller issues and are unlikely to notice picture quality issues. For example this TV has a PCI dc3 of 65% compared to other TV's in the price range, is between 5-15% lower. Meaning that it is not as good at reproducing a full colour spectrum as it's competition.

Not 100% sure, some quoting 8+ 2. I think most say 10 bit HDR when they are 10 bit. Also , it becoming a free standatd, newly designed sets tend to incorporate it.

Almost all LG tv's are 3k panels (technically 2.88k) and how they are legally allowed to claim they are 4k is beyond belief. To save treading over old ground and a million comments already on this forum, just google "LG RGBW" or look here for a slightly over simplified answer https://www.techhive.com/article/3240976/smart-tv/some-lg-4k-lcd-tvs-deliver-only-28k-resolution.html

hcc27

Agree. Got the 55 incher for £343 delivered from Hughes on another HotUKDeals deal a couple of months ago. Fantastic TV for the price. PQ is very good, greys as close to black as you can get at this price point, and no juddering on football/ rapid movements. 2y guarantee with Hisense is a bonus. Even has a sat input (though not Freesat). Obviously an 8bit panel at this price, HDR works well and my XBOne picture is a sight to behold. You cannot complain for the quality you get with Hisense, given the price point.

lgittings246

This one. They are all same software so makes no difference unfortunately. I do love it thoe. Way better screen then my Samsung 4K.

Aretak

Certainly this. It uses a proper RGB VA panel, rather than the RGBW IPS panel of the LG, which will give you much better contrast and black levels along with proper reproduction of finer picture elements. The only potential exception would be if you sit at an extreme angle to the TV, as IPS has better viewing angles. Hisense's smart TV platform is a little basic by comparison, but it's responsive, easy to use and covers most of the big names.
