I love the anti F&B brigade. Prepare and apply properly and you’ll be impressed. Get your decorator to slap it on in a few hours and you’ll know what I mean.

Sorry, you're wrong. I had to do woodwork through the whole house with their awful eggshell and I refuse to leave jobs badly done - it took three coats to get a decent finish. Just the worst ever, doesn't move or cover well at all. Decent paint for half the price will do a much better job. The emulsion is slightly better, but again doesn't cover or move well - I had so much area to do, I gave up and got Johnstone's to colour match. Finish isn't quite as good, but not far off and it literally took me less than half the time to do a good job.

It's basically a designer paint. Most professionals don't use it. If it's the F&B colour you like, it can mixed to match at a decorators trade centre.

I was a painter and decorator for 5 years, my brother over 20 years and counting. We both have farrow and ball in practically every room.

Every painter and decorator I’ve ever met hates F&B. Always get mine colour matched at Johnstones

I'm sorry but £52 for 2.5 litres of emulsion, do they take us for mugs. Even at this offer price of £17 each it's still overpriced

Then it's not aimed at you, is it?

Used this in my house as the wife picked a shade she liked. The stuff is an absolute rip off. Better paints out there.

We get colours mixed and delivered by the decorating centre online now. Nicer paint and good value for money. They match F&B too if you really want something they do.  (edited)

Take any f&b to your local decent paint shop and they'll colour match. You'll end up with a cheaper product that performs better. F&b known to be quite chalky and very prone to scuffing.

Is that true? I was thinking of experimenting with a can this stuff to repaint my kitchen cupboard doors. Do you know of a brand that would be a better bet?

If a customer insists on Farrow and Ball paint I refuse to quote but I leave my number for them to call me when they want it doing again in a couple of months with a different brand that is colour matched.

    What paint do you recommend?

Get to checkout and the ones I wanted aren't available for home delivery even though states it is.

Same here. Wouldn't allow for store pick up either.

Little Greene is vastly superior and Brewers mix in the store! No flashing of dark colours, so touching up is a dream.

This. Did one room in F&B, yep, it's a nice colour, but opacity is awful, and it's not good to clean marks off it (modern, not estate). Done everything else in Little Greene, far nicer to work with.

    Think it’s an April fools!

I’ve used f&b paint once and never again. Opacity is truly awful, took 4 coats to give a decent finish. I do as others have said now, get dulux centre to paint match the colour
    Vawallpa's avatar
Totally agree. Only ever used f&b twice. Once I got a good finish with two coats, once it was still terrible. Nearly always use Dulux Easycare and always get a good finish in two coats, nice thick paint although you haven't got the range of colours f&b

We loved the colours of Farrow and Ball. When we first moved into our place had it painted in our bedroom, kid's room, spare room etc.

An extremely expensive mistake. Worst paint ever! Just flakes off with the slightest knock.
We were also sold with the high pigmentation and the "extraordinary response to light is our paints most distinctive asset". We live in Britain light is grey and pretty much stays grey.

Paint quality must be the most subjective topic ever

Anyone willing to come round mine & do the actual painting?!

Heat...was about to cry as I just brought one for £54 but looks like that hasn't dropped in price

The colours are impossible to beat but it'll be a cold day in hell before I ever paint a wall with something delicate again. I have a stiff jacket hung on the back of a door and even that is enough to mark the wall it opens against. Just the phrase "delicate wall paint" alone is ridiculous. (edited)

I use this site to get to a close enough match for the expensive paints: e-paint.co.uk/col…ite
    James_Hunter-Jones's avatar
I should have asked, where do you go to get the paints made up?

Decent deal looking to decorate my teenage daughters room this offer is perfect .
  19. blackcoffeecats's avatar
Only seems to be the less popular colours; probably ones they can’t shift
    PsychoSonny's avatar
just take the colour code to johnstones or dulux centres and they will colour match it exactly. only mugs buy farrow and ball
  20. Nicerboy's avatar
    Ordered thanks.

    Overpriced crap.

Valspar are cheaper, have a much bigger colour range and give better coverage.

I was sceptical for years after only trying a few testers, but tried it properly recently and it's on another level to the standard johnstones, dulux, tikkurila trade paints. The colours are superb
  23. Envx's avatar
Go onto any decorators forum and F&B is called out for how bad it is on a daily basis.
  24. ann.zhang's avatar
Brilliant thanks! Just ordered. FYI it’s all the F&B new line colours on sale
