This was full of glass, stones, plastic and a IKEA spoon. It's like someone just dug up any old waste land and bagged it as compost

Worst stuff I ever used. No water retention … in the end I contacted customer services who refunded me.

Bought some of this last year, never again. Number of bags contained large quantities of plastic so far from organic.

Has glass in it. Extremely dangerous especially if you have kids helping with gardening. Better to go with another brand.

Brilliant price seeing as normal 50l compost is costing a fiver or more these days. Great price if you live near a range

£3.49 for 40l in Lidl I thought it as really good but I’m no expert. Very dark and no rubbish and seems to be holding water well.

Tried this last summer and it was rubbish. No good for potting or hanging baskets, so I tipped it on the raised beds and they stank for weeks afterwards. A horrible 'not quite manure' smell.

please dont buy this and support this company worst ever compost.

This stuff is naff. Might be useful as 'filler' or as it says on the label to add to dig in...but on its own it'll dry out quickly into one solid lump if you use it on its own.

If you want to 'dig stuff' into borders or pots then manure would surely be better.

Bought a bulk load (40+ bags) at the end of season last year, dirt cheap.
Very variable quality, all of the problems cropped up that have been mentioned above. If you care for your plants and are serious about growing, then this stuff is no good.
Only for top dressing, after a good sieving to take out any junk.

Me personally, just mixed in some well rotted manure and a handful of perlite/vermiculite to bring it up to any other usable grade.

Save yourself from unhealthy, bad plants and unnecessary faff. Get looking for better stuff.
Allotment holders, you should be making your own compost nowadays. This peat free stuff these last few years combined with the price inflation means we are getting an awful deal/quality with buying compost.

Surely it can't be organic if it contains bits of plastic and other c**p.

This is soil improver compost only. It is to be used/mixed with the soil you already have at 50:50 ratio. Plants then should not be put in it for at least a month after mixing. Not for seedlings.

I've moved away from this and other store brands due to the reasons people have already mentioned and bad experiences with spotty or no germination. If you talk with gardeners/growers in your local area you will get a feel for reliable bulk compost suppliers. Whether this is cow, horse or mushroom.

I have a few of these bags and they've been fine, certainly are not the best for potting, but then again that's why there's such a thing called potting compost.
Ok for mixing in beds or allotments use.
