Netflix for Turkey, cost approx. £1.98 per month for 720p HD single account. Yes it’s not 4K, but I’ve been using this on a 70” 4K TV and it looks absolutely fine, but my TV has great upscaling. With the advent of the password sharing ban soon coming into force, it might be an idea if you start getting separate accounts now.
Turkish cost is 720p (£1.98 v UK £6.99), 1080p (£3.04 v UK £10.99) & 4K (£4.06 v UK £15.99), all formats available.
Current Turkish Lira costs are TL63.99 (720), TL97.99 (1080) & TL129.99 (4K).
I’ve used this method about 6 times now, no problems. Hopefully it will work for you too.
I used CCleaner, MS Edge (on Windows 10) as a browser, Surfshark on iPhone and SMS Activate via iPhone too (probably available on Android & PC, not sure).I’ve had zero problems using SMS Activate, been using it for over a year now.
It was purchased using a TSB Debit card, nothing fancy, and fees are minimal/zero. I’ve done this on a Monzo card too, prices the same.
I believe this might also work if using your VPN set to India (and possible other countries), which will cost around £2/month, but I can’t confirm that yet. Using India for some things have caused some folks problems with changes in the Indian finance regulation system sadly.
1. Use CCleaner or similar to clean all internet files and cookies from your laptop. This might not be required, but I’m just playing safe.
2. Test your VPN is working, switch to Turkey, and using MS Edge, search your location and check that it thinks you’re in Turkey. Switch off VPN after the test.
3. Open Microsoft Edge, and head to Netflix website, and click to sign up. Edge has a translate function, so allow this to happen when you receive the pop up request.
4. Enter your email and password details of your choosing, and click next.
5. When you see “Step 2 of 3, Choose Your Plan”, switch on your VPN to Turkey, and click next on Netflix. If the prices are displayed in Pounds, then click back on the browser, and then next, and the prices should update to Turkish Lira. Choose your plan, and click next.
6. Continue all the way through the process with the VPN on. You’ll be prompted for a Turkish phone number to which Netflix will send a code to.
7. At this point use SMS Activate, you’ll have to chuck a couple of quid into it first, but you’ll have a load of credits to then use it again and again if needed. Browse to Netflix & Turkey and a Turkish mobile will be given to you for 20 minutes.
Edit 19th June 2023, it might take you a few attempts using SMS Activate, with no code being sent from Netflix to your virtual mobile number. If the number has not been sent within 5 minutes, chances are you'll have to purchase a new number and try again. Some folks are also having success using Temp Number.
apps.apple.com/gb/app/smsactivate-virtual-numbers/id1584333244
apps.apple.com/ag/app/temp-number/id1589908420
8. Enter the generated Turkish mobile number into Netflix, and it should take a minute or two for the code to be sent from Netflix, to the SMS Activate app. Enter the code into Netflix and click next.
9. You’ll be given the option to add another back up mobile number, simply change the Turkish flag to a UK one, and enter your UK mobile number.
That’s it! You’ll need to use a VPN set to Turkey for 1 month when watching Netflix as your account will be geolocked, but after that do not use the VPN as it’s not needed, and in fact you might get the “Looks like you’re using a VPN/Proxy…” warning if you continue to use the VPN after one month, but as stated after 1 month you don’t need the VPN.
One more thing, if you choose to log into Netflix to test it out (once you’ve become a member), say on a different device, do not click “Remember Me”, as this can cause problems trying to then watch it on another, more permanent device such as a Firestick for example, you will have problems trying to sign in (password not recognized etc.).

Problems I encountered/steps taken:
1. Got the SMSActivate app on Android. Found Netflix in the list, saw the prices for messages from various countries, including Turkey, which shows it costs 28 credits (the larger of the two numbers). Created an account. Used Google Play to pay with my ordinary RBS Mastercard. Got 50 credits for £0.89. Left it at that.
2. The second problem was trying to stop Netflix from seeing that I was English not Turkish, even when using the Turkish site (netflix.com/tr or its English language version netflix.com/tr-en). All done with Hide.Me VPN set to Turkey. Netflix site automatically chose English as the language. Even though the Bing homepage in Edge was showing Istanbul as location. However, that Bing homepage was also showing everything in English & all the news was about USA. Entering my email address in Netflix to sign up resulted in "Something went wrong, please try again later". I tried a whole bunch of things suggested here, but this error kept coming up - cleared all the caches, cookies, history, temporary files, everything in all the browsers and via Windows10 control panel too. Used CCleaner to clean out the PC & restarted. Tried Chrome incognito window, non-incognito. Tried my Firefox that setup to be nontrackable and non-leaky, had to add a translate add-on to it first. Used Edge in default condition with tracking enabled. All the same. I used IP leak check to check the VPN. The IP leak check site showed my real location when I gave the browser permission to show location.
3. Solved it by A) cleaning everything again,
B) changing Hide.Me location to Turkey Streaming Server (this is a diffent IP address to the general one -Netflix might have been blocking known VPN IP address -Amazon does that),
C) installing GEOLOCATION HIDING EXTENSION in Edge called Vytal set to custom location of Istanbul (which didn't immediately hide my location again, had to restart Edge, then checked again and it showed Istanbul as location), Edge homepage then showed Turkish news and a lot more Turkish language words when there weren't any before.
D) went to Edge languages and added Turkish as one of preferred languages, and set Edge to offer to translate that into English.
E) went to Netflix.com/tr, now all in Turkish, used Edge translate, added a BRAND NEW EMAIL ADDRESS and everything after that went through like a charm. Including SMS Activate.
4. Just AFTER entering my Halifax credit card details, before clicking the next button, I bought a Turkish mobile number for Netflix in the SMSActivate App. Clicked next in Netflix and at some point added that mobile number for the PIN (minus the +90 at the start). The PIN code message arrived in SMSActivate App in around two minutes, added it into Netflix and hey presto! Netflix then asked for a backup phone number, I added my UK mobile, and it went onto Netflix accounts and usage setup. All done.
5. Using the Netflix via VPN node in Turkey for last few days I'm seeing all the same content available as in UK, with just two or three Turkish shows thrown in (about as many Indian and vastly more Korean shows). I signed up for Premium, not sure if that affects it.
Thanks to all the others who'd posted their experiences, helped a lot. And the OP, of course. Everybody else seemed to have avoided the thing that caused me the most trouble, the SMS-Activate.org website:
SMS Activate on PC Problems:
What a nightmare.just trying to get an account. Firstly, website language selection is a nightmare. Pick English and some bits stay Russian, especially some dialogues. Pick Russian & use Edge translate function - it send you emails in Russian and expects you to be in Russia. The other big issue is the time delay in them sending emails (over 5 mins). Then, my first email address wasn't accepted, they decided it was a temporary one. Second email got past that but setting up new password came up with random errors -said I was a robot or password incorrect (how can it be, its a new one, checked to make sure fit their stated requirements), or, when everything looks to have been fine...it just sits there with the same dialogue and a sign-in button (which does nothing). Restarting and entering password resulted in 'incorrect password'. I then tried password reset Thats it.
It all changed when I signed in with mobile - then it said enter the PIN they sent to email. Went to email...and no PIN. Instead email says confirm your email, and gives a link for that. Clicking that link leads to the PIN! Then I was in on the app. I could purchase the required stuff. Basically the thing is designed to be an app, the website login is pointless.
EDIT: And now SMSActivate App is sending me 'congratulations'/survey email EVERY HOUR...to my GOOGLE ACCOUNT (the one for the phone/google play)...and its in Russian... (edited)
"You’ll need to use a VPN set to Turkey for 1 month, but after that do not use the VPN"
That just so they don't flag you?
Can i just sign up not use for a month then crack on using without VPN or do i need to have activity on the account using the VPN for a Month?
never used after and still working 18months later. It’s around £3.50 for the premium one, back then I used a app called ping me for the phone validation
There was no geo location lock, I had UK card linked to my acc before started using gift cards. (edited)
Have to use a Turkish based cc
I take it you used a UK debit card?
So
John@gmail.com and j.ohn@gmail.com will go to same inbox as far as Gmail are concerned
PC - Windscribe - Edge Private Browser - SMS Activate App (Android) (Topped up £1.80 to use) - Nationwide Credit Card
If you don't get a text in SMS Activate App then they'll refund you the 'coins', though it can take a while.
If Netflix tells you to 'try again later' after a few tries when entering number, try sign up using different email.
For those using Netflix + Windscribe for the 1st month, 'Turkey - Istanbul Galata' seems to have good quality picture. (edited)
The principal point though, is why pay more when (with a little effort), you don’t have to?
Also, getting one over “The Man” just feels good!
Worked a treat on my Android phone using:
* Windscribe VPN Turkey (the free one)
* Temp Number App play.google.com/sto…ber
* Brave in Incognito Mode
* A Halifax Clarity Credit Card
Better yet that Temp Number used my existing Google Play Credit from answering stupid Google Opinions questions, so even that was free. It's actually a very good app, so ignore the negative reviews. Worked first time for me.
Now I will set ControlD to automatically re-route to Turkey for Netflix.
This took well under 15 minutes to complete.
Great first post OP. Thank you!
Problem is I'm happy to do this, but this geo-lock thing is a pain as the kids watch Netflix on their bedroom TV's and I'm guessing they won't be able too for a month is that right ?
Windscribe > Private Safari > Barclaycard > SMS Activate
Anyone stuck try the steps above and it should work! Thanks again OP and those who have contributed so much to this!
Yes, prices are increasing. New members will pay these immediately and existing members will get an email to say their Subscription will increase in 30 days:
Basic 99TL
Standard 149TL
Premium 199TL (edited)
Buy a 100TL Netflix gift card from CD Keys cdkeys.com/net…key
Mine was delivered instantly. With VPN on (Windscribe free worked for me, NordVPN paid did not), sign up for a new Netflix account (or use an existing one and scroll down to the bottom where it says 'redeem gift card' - this is unlikely to work if you're account isn't set up in Turkey!). Redeem the gift card.
Complete the sign up process using the gift card balance. It does not ask for SMS verification and you can skip the 'add additional payment card' on the next screen, just do this later.
100TL will get you the HD + 2 screens subscription. You can change to a different tier at any time, but may as well get the cheapest one for the first month if you're locked in to using a VPN anyway! I expect I'll just let my account sit for the first month until I can use it without VPN.
Ps. On last screen they asked me what movies I like (I’ve selected English ones) and now when I open netflix (with or without vpn) I see only English content, nothing Turkish
(edited)
Can this be done on an Android phone or Tablet following the steps outlined?
Can Revolut be used, not the throw away virtual card, but the VC that has an expiry date?
Best place to get the virtual number for SMS? I have read somewhere that these don't always work
Cheers
Thanks OP
Used the Temp 2nd Number on Android, minimum top up was $5 but it's worth it. You can pay using a card or GPay, I used GPay.
The SMS code came through in seconds.
I didn't need to clear cache or run browser in private\incognito mode. Used the NordVPN (I have a sub) Chrome extension, signed in as normal and only activated the VPN when on the select plan page. At first the prices were in £s, activated VPN, refreshed and the prices changed to TL.
Thanks OP for the guide. (edited)
