This is some info I posted on a Motorhome Forum I belong to - hope it helps some of you!

Assuming you've got one of the sims here's how to set it up.

    1: Activate sim
This will happen once you've put it in your phone (you have 30 days to do it), some phones will show it immediately, others need to be rebooted (I always do this anyway) - you'll know it's live as you'll get texts from Asda mobile.

    2: APN
You'll need to manually create this on your phone (you only need to complete the below fields and ignore the rest), depending on phone type do as follows:

Android - on my Xiaomi Redmi it's found here & will be similar on yours I suspect:
Go to Settings > SIM cards & mobile networks > select ASDA sim > Access Point Names > New APN:

    Name: ASDA internet
    APN: MY.INTERNET
    Username: wap
    Password: wap

Click More at bottom of screen and then Save

Apple - you need to set it up in TWO different areas (I haven't got an iPhone so can't say if this is all you need to do):
Go to Settings > Mobile Data > Mobile Data Network and use the following settings:

    Internet/Mobile Data
    APN: MY.INTERNET
    Username: wap
    Password: wap

    Personal Hotspot
    APN: MY.INTERNET
    Username: wap
    Password: wap

    3: Download the app
You can get this from the usual places depending on your phone type

    4: Payment card
Despite putting this in when purchasing the sim it isn't kept so you have to do input it, this is how to do it in the app:
Log into the app > click on Profile (bottom right cog) > Click on Registering payment cards and enter details there and save

    5: Activating your £7 bundle
Go onto Asda mobile's website mobile.asda.com (NOT the app as the T&Cs state it has to be done via the website):
Log in (with the info you used when purchasing the sim)
Scroll down and click on Activate sim (or something like that - hubby did them and can't remember!
You will then see a current balance of £0 but ignore it as it's always £0 unless you put £ credit on for other stuff/buy extras etc, your £7 bundle will be detailed underneath.

Hopefully you'll now be able to use it!!!

Voted cold. If anyone is, like me, surprised that this is going so hot with no dissenting comments, that's because the comments pointing out better deals are being deleted.
    naunau's avatar
Why? Spend £21, get £40 gift card. Don't need to use the sim.

Not sure if things have chnaged but you can use the Asda Gift card to buy Amazon etc gift cards at the self service till.
    alpbetgam's avatar
Do they still sell Amazon gift cards? I haven't been able to find any at my local one in months.

Pretty sure 5GB EU roaming is only on the £10 (12GB) tariff and above.

    I just read this

All bundle customers have a data roaming limit of up to 5GB.

Our data roaming and international calling bundles start from £5. All bundle customers have a data roaming limit of up to 5GB, regardless of whether your bundle limit is higher than this. Once you have used up to 5GB of data you will be charged 10p per MB, the same as you would pay for data in the UK. You will receive notifications when you reach the 80% and 100% of the data limit

We tried Asda Mobile but had no Wifi Calling on a Galaxy S20 FE. Rang Asda support a few times and they either couldn't understand that they needed to send out the config to enable it, or just lied and said they had, tried for about a week and it never worked. Switched to proper Vodafone, one phone call and within 5 mins the config came through, rebooted the phone and wifi calling has worked ever since (we did try Asda Mobile again after but it didn't work even with the voda config so there it must be network specific using the MCC/MNC). (edited)

Vodafone (and MVNOs) had an issue where they only accepted Samsung phones with Vodafone firmware for Wifi calling. It didn't work on Asda, Lebara or Vodafone proper for ages but seems to be working since Voda started to turn off 3G.

Not sure if it's to do with a Samsung software update or a backend change at a Voda HQ but works fine now.

Hi all. Does anyone know if I can keep my number if I go from Vodafone - Asda and then back to Vodafone after the 3 months ?
    the_saucerer's avatar
Yes as long as you use a pac code both times to keep your number
  11. _93's avatar

I don't see the info on their page regarding the gift card. Am I missing something?

I signed up to this deal (saw it on MSE) and had the 1st payment taken from my bank account immediately. It appears I've been lucky as the SIM arrived fairly quickly. I placed it in a spare (unused) phone and activated it there. I've topped up the account to the tune of £14 (2 months worth) then removed my card details so there's only the account balance to take the auto renewal payment. Present situation is I've had the 2nd payment taken on the 5th Feb, leaving £7 for next month's. Now I'm just patiently waiting to see if it produces the voucher after 3rd month's payment, I'll update here if/when it does.

I didn't realise Asda ran on voda - for some reason I thought it was EE 🤦🏻

Unfortunately, voda is hopeless near me so I'll have to pass, but a great price if it's good in your area
    student.223's avatar
Asda used the EE network until around a year ago I think

And this time next year we will all be millionaires! Oh, and after 3 months you can port your number to you know who! I have said in the past I don't like offers with gift cards but I will change my tune on this one🎶📯

I have a registered Asda SIM already, which I don't use. I wonder if I'd still qualify as a new customer?
I tend to use Lebara these days and jump on a new deal when one runs out - doing the double number port routine!
I wouldn't really need to use the Asda SIM as I've just received my next Lebara SIM on the £1.90 deal for six months. (edited)

One of the benefits of Asda Mobile is you can check your voicemail for free.
  32. iEddyMorrison's avatar
Does the sim need to be activated to get the gift card?
    Ferris's avatar
You have to make 3 payments to get the gift card, so how would you do that without activating the SIM?
  33. student_saver88's avatar
Is asda like lebara where your sim activates when you put it in? Or does you bundle start when you pay?
  34. 5426angela's avatar

What a shambles! My wife spent ages on the phone to one of the 'agents' who struggled to understand the English alphabet and what the issue was, ie not received flipping sims! Said she could cancel original contract and refund then send out new sim but she couldn't seem to grasp that I wouldn't then get the cashback and just kept saying she's refund the original payment ... it too ages for her to realise what my wife was on about even though she carefully explained it to her. These foreign call centre staff can be great but this one was a nightmare! After 20 minutes on the phone with her the only thing she could sort of confirm was that the sims were sent out the same day they were ordered (they weren't it was the following day according to the emails we received) so my wife said just to forget it, leave the original contract in place and we'll keep our fingers and everything else crossed that the blooming sims arrive!

Although the offer is still on we can't just cancel the other contract and apply again as we won't be classed as new customers, very frustrating.
