What are their data speeds like?

They are effectively Three so, in my experience and going on what others have said, you may be blessed with lightning fast speeds or (like me) have to force your phone into 3G mode to even get any data throughput because 4G isn't fast enough to even load the Google homepage. 5G seems to be better at the moment but coverage is pretty limited. Oh, and Three have been 'fixing' the data issue in my area since the Coalition Government - no exaggeration.

The same tariff is £16 for those not on a suitable benefit: smarty.co.uk/pla…1a1

Can i get SMARTY Social Tariff if i am a pensioner?
    StaceyQ's avatar
A fair number of pensioners have lots of cash - you can't use the state pension alone as a indicator of need.

Good deal, if you use that much data. Although I'm on their 60gb data deal for £8. So not a deal for me.

I tried this and have already cancelled the sim.

I was with Three for a good while maybe 3-4 years ago, terrible service in the end. Thought I'd give their network another try, surely it's got better, right?

Wrong. Popped the sim in, tested the data speed and barely got past 1Mbps!

Spoke to SMARTY chat and they claim there is work going on in the area. What, for the last 5 years? They were nice enough to refund me though!

Never touching Three network again. (edited)

The main advantage of that would be no price rises with them.

I’m still on their free music pass but might try and get on their unlimited everything after that ends.

I wonder if this is an expansion on similar schemes from the likes of Voxi that only lasted 6 months ?

Good if you can get it currently paying 16 with three

I know you joking, but at same time, this year it actually quite true for some. I think some can get grants ie say it help them to search for jobs etc...

For the first two people. yes it similar scheme as Voxi aka Vodafone. I know Voxi is £10 and in theory it 6 months (I think it does not time out) but I thinking for some people three is better than EE / Vodafone. They do a check with DWP every 12 months to see if one is still eligible, if one not they get transfer to a smarty tariff that does not cost more than social tariff... (Of course what happens in 12 months time in reality is other thing.)

Wow, for someone who was forced to retire very young due to a back injury, on a small pension, I can't justify £12 a month.

but if below 65, can't you get PIP?
  16. smackos's avatar
Wish I could have swapped over to this at the minute. Am with EE and still mid way through contract, and they wouldn't budge on swapping me to even their own social tariff until my contract finishes.
