Switch Mario Joy-Con Comfort Grip £9.99 @ Smyths

Where did you get the red joycons?

The dark red joy cons came with the special edition Odyssey console bundle. You can buy the pair of cons on their own but only released in Japan to date I believe (see eBay if interested in getting them on their own).

It also suits the yellow cons very well.[Image] You can Peach up your pink joy con or Rosalina up your blue joy con to, both would look okay on a black grip.[Image]

Yes that is correct, but that these grips won't last 5 minutes is a bit of a myth really. They seem fine to me (I have the black one too that comes with console) and 2 x the different PowerA Mario themed grips and I see no difference in using either.

Of course the only and ultimate test as to question marks on how long will last is time itself. Come back in a few years for an update

Cheapest price it's been on the eShop, as part of the greater eShop New Years Sale.
No, when I go into just for you it says that I don't have any offers.

Constantly baffled by Nintendo and their various clubs/logins. I should probably make more effort but it's so easy to give up... until the next time, by which time Nintendo have usually (or appear to have) chucked everything out and started again.

Many, many moons ago the WiiU was set up for my daughter to use. Think that's the basis of my problems. The main account (with credit) has some parental restrictions, and no way, that I'm aware of at least, of removing it.

Anyhoo, I've just been bounced back from PC to change a setting on the WiiU to allow me to log in on the PC, only to log in on the PC and be told that I can't and need to set up another guardian account (which I have) with no explanation about how that's supposed to link back to the Wii U or what I'm supposed to do with either of them, or even whether the child account has been linked or the details it insisted I provide has created a new one.

Should just have bought the game second hand from CEX but I've got enough credit and prefer to buy online on the PS4 and Xbox.

The 3DS version also comes with 100 premade levels made by Nintendo, which is about as many as most 2D Marios seem to have. That's the reason I'm interested in it.
The main difference is the Wii U has a larger choice or levels in the online database. The 3DS version just rotates them. That won't change just because miiverse is being abandoned. To be honest I don't think there was much wrong with miiverse, just that it has not been successful for whatever reason. Don't think many bother with it, other than on occasion.

The 3DS does of course have the big advantage of being more portable, and it does keep kids busy in the car.

Nintendo did bring out some splatoon 3ds cover plates I assumed the game was headed to the 3ds at some point. I suspect the sell by date has passed on that happening but still a few ports would be good. (as long as there not hobbled like mario maker on the 3ds.

Maybe, but I caught up with some 3DS games I'd never played lasy year, and was struck by how primitive the 3DS screen now looks. Great games on the system for sure, but the tech is old hat. Get them all ported to the Switch!

I'm still hoping this game comes to the switch (remake or version 2) without the limitations of the 3ds. The 3ds version kind of defeats the purpose of it imo. Though I am on the fence on the switch.

you can't upload your created levels to the nintendo servers/network for … you can't upload your created levels to the nintendo servers/network for others to play though, which is the main feature of the Wii U version, so annoying! The additional 100 nintendo levels i like the idea of, but no full online support is a joke! Mario Maker is all about the community connecting (even though there are some idiotic levels) Many, many level creators spend hundreds of hours creating masterpieces, there is literally no incentive for those people to do that on 3ds when it can only be shared with a select few friends

It is a sore point you raise, and quite baffling Nintendo did that. Going by the demo, and the info available on Wooly's Yoshi World, they seemed to have got that one right by adding good new features. Taking away such a key aspect of what makes MM great was never going to be popular.

Worth mentioning that the available internet levels, although a limited selection, the selection is not static and does get rotated/updated with new levels. Not sure how frequently this happens?

Is actually a good version of Mario Maker the 3DS game. My kid already loved the Wii U game and got 3DS copy on Xmas Day. I expected it would only get used for car travel but no, he loves it and is finding there are lots of things in the game that are different and unique to 3DS. Re the limitations of the internet levels, I can't see that being a prob for most kids say under 10 as they tend to just like being creative and making their levels for themselves.

Isn't it rubbish though with no online?

"rubbish" would be going a bit of an over statement IMHO. I have to agree it is bizzare they have not included the online, a right odd duck that one given the nature of the game. All the reviews I have seen say it is a good Wii U port however and there is some compensation with new things. And for kids when travelling, this is the perfect game and why I bought it without hesitation.

From: videogamer.com/fea…lem

There is an argument to be made that the 3DS version of Mario Maker didn't need online level sharing. It includes 100 Nintendo-made levels that present a beefy challenge, plus a constantly changing list of 100 levels made by owners of the Wii U game, essentially meaning you're not going to suffer from a lack of content. But, and this is a rather large but, that argument is wrong. It just feels like a real shame that anything brilliant made on the 3DS version of the game can only be spread by local wireless sharing or StreetPassing.

In a somewhat neat touch, you can share in-progress levels with friends who can then collaborate with you on designs - a feature I expect will be very useful amongst friendship groups. And there is something to be said for the joy of discovering new levels that have been automatically downloaded on your morning commute thanks to StreetPass. Sadly I think for a lot of players that will be a joy that isn't experienced very often, if at all.
superfreddy

Isn't it rubbish though with no online?

Certainly that's a limitation of the game - how much of one depends on how you intend to play it - but that doesn't detract from this being a good price relative to the market average.

Quidco CB is 6.6% software, 5.5% merchandise, so should get approx. £3.50 - £4.00 back there. Not the worst deal.

From memory I think the codes for the respective calendars are MARIOCALENDAR, MARIOKARTCALENDAR or KARTCALENDAR and ZELDACALENDAR (but only on a +£50 spend).

Yes. Apparently the game even plays the Wii U stages already out there. Not sure if that means they are pre-loaded or you have to D/L them.
I paid £9.99 for the metal "biscuit tin" elsewhere, its surprisingly big and well made. Lots of Mario related things including the game going in there. The T-Shirt and biscuit tin both look okay buys with the game. Don't think the coasters or £6.99 mug are such a good deal. Regret not buying the game when Amazon prime had it at £26, dunno what I was thinking waiting. Would have got this deal too, had I not bought the tin already.
