What to Look for When Buying a Trampoline

• Size

  If you are hunting for a family trampoline 10ft or 12ft wide models will be just about right. However, when space is tight, looking for smaller versions makes sense. Buyers will find plenty of 8ft trampoline designs and even mobile 6ft trampoline models, great for taking on holidays.

• Safety Features

  Safety features really matter. Trampolines should be safe to use, but some models are safer than others. When buying a kids trampoline, look for products with pads that cover the springs, and choose models with safety nets, either around the side or completely enclosing users. Models without nets are usually best for more advanced trampolinists.

• Circular or Rectangular?

  Shape matters when buying trampolines. Because of its design, a rectangular trampoline will be noticeably more powerful than a round model. That's why they are used by elite athletes. It's also why round trampoline models are generally best suited to garden use.

• Is Your Garden Trampoline Friendly?

  In some cases, it may not be possible to use an outdoor trampoline. You'll need enough flat ground to contain the trampoline, with 3 feet around its circumference to allow safe usage. And overhanging branches are also an issue that some buyers forget to consider.

• Alvanised or Powder Coated?

  Check the frames of trampolines before buying. Powder coated steel frames will tend to rust more quickly, but be slightly cheaper. Galvanised frames are more durable, so it may be worth spending a little extra.

• Pick a Pad That Will Last

  Pad material also matters. UV resistant materials like polypropylene work well, and won't be damaged by long-term sun exposure. If you can, check the material for softness, too. Cheaper models will be coarser and can potentially cause irritation and cuts when used over long periods.

• Springs

  Trampolines don't all have the same number of springs. Generally, those with fewer springs will be easier to use, but less powerful. This makes them better for children, but less so for skilled users.

• Weight Limits
