A Closer Look at the iPhone 13 Pro Features

• A15 Bionic chipset

  Recent Apple phones tend to excel when it comes to performance and this is mainly down to their A-series chips. With a 6-core CPU, the 13 Pro’s A15 bionic is 50% faster than leading Android chips – according to Apple. • Design

  With its angular corners, toughened Ceramic Shield glass front and steel rim, the 13 Pro looks a lot like the 12 Pro. The addition of a heftier battery means it’s 15g heavier than its predecessor and also slightly thicker. The colour options have also changed to Sierra Blue, Gold, Silver and Graphite. Finally, many buyers will be pleased to learn the display notch has been reduced by around 20%.

• Display

  The Super Retina XDR OLED display is rendered on a large 6.1-inch screen and it delivers an 1170 x 2532 resolution. If you’re viewing HDR content, the peak brightness will be a dazzling 1200 nits. To balance the effects of outdoor lighting, the screen can reach 1000 nits, so you should find it easier to use your phone in the sun.

• Connectivity

  Along with BlueTooth, Wi-Fi and NFC, you’ll also get GPS and super-fast 5G. According to Apple, the 13 Pro supports a wider range of 5G bands than the 12 Pro could. If you prefer a wired connection for other devices, the phone has a lightning port.

• Storage

  Apple have ditched the 64GB options for their newer phones, so you can choose between 128GB, 256GB and 512GB, all of which are pretty generous storage options. Filmmakers may need even more space to keep their 4K recordings, however, so Apple has added a beefy 1TB option.

• Battery Life

  This model has a larger, more powerful battery than the 12 Pro and should deliver day-long use on a single charge. Although the actual battery life will depend on what you'll be doing with it. The most demanding feature is likely to be the 120Hz display but as it can be managed using ProMotion technology, the drain will be controlled.

• TrueDepth Camera

  There are three cameras on the 13 Pro. The wide sensor has been enlarged with a bigger aperture, so shots in low light will be better. The ultra-wide lens also has a larger f/1.8 aperture, giving it a 92% improvement in low light, as per Apple. They’ve also added a 3x optical zoom and improved the phone’s ability to take macro and night shots.

• Cinematic Mode

  New for the iPhone 13 lineup, this mode chooses a point of focus to create a professional-looking video. It follows the gaze of a subject, allows the user to play with depth and can anticipate the appearance of new subjects.

• 120Hz refresh rate

  An extremely high 120hz refresh rate means the screen refreshes 120 times each second. This will make for a smoother look because additional frames are being added over the same time period. You’ll probably notice the upgrade most when streaming media or playing games that have a high frame per second rate. The iPhone 13 Pro is the first to have ProMotion, although it was previously available for the 2017 iPad Pro.
