Shenmue! Do I really want to return to that world again? It's been.... 18 years since I was last there. Those other games don't appeal to me much, though. Hmmmmm.

matwalaboy

Yup you are right, quite a bit of drop in prices too - not that I am complaining :)

matwalaboy

You are right, looks like the prices have changed. Good spot that mate - updated now. (highfive)

I thought the beat the average price changed (obviously) but not the top-tier price.

Shenmue 3 worth a punt at this price surely!

lol been a Shenmue fan for 20 years and I loved it. Don't read/listen to everything that you read from these edgy youtubers... If you like the first 2 games, this is 100% worth the 13 quid to try it out yourself. Sure it has it's flaws, but it nailed the Shenmue vibe, atmosphere & gameplay from the first two. Shenmue anime was announced last night, which hopefully means we will get a continuation of the story in the future. Great time to be a Shenmue Fan.

Heartbreakingly awful for OG Shenmue fans. Yu Suzuki done bad.

Nice find, price for this game took a nosedive within around a year.

its not a spoiler to say there isn't really any story development in this game! started my second playthrough the moment i finished it, but stopped after 2 days... the game felt quite big on my first play (i dont have much free time) but on the second play i felt like i was tearing through it too fast! i really hope thre is a part 4 but they would need to update things, actually have story progression, bring back the old fighting engine and actually modernise the whole thing!

I don't think you'll enjoy 3 based on what you said. Mainly because 3 doesn't offer an in depth experience that 1 did in my opinion. A lot of elements from 2 are in 3 pacing wise. The size of 3 though is more similar to 1 than 2. Personally I loved it, because I love Shenmue and am pretty biased. The one thing 3 has is that it feels like a Shenmue game. Like 1 there is a portion of the game where you can drive the forklift again, albeit the area is significantly smaller than 1's docks. The main differences are the new health system, where you need to eat throughout the day and the new fighting system. They aren't my favourite changes but they keep things a little fresh. The story is the main hook with Shenmue, but I feel for most people they will feel underwhelmed if they are not aware that 3 isn't intended to be the end. You may feel the game itself is pretty short too. It maybe worth just watching a playthrough to see if it's something you could get into, then purchasing if you like what you see. At this price though I think it's definitely worth a go.

I owned 1 and 2 on Dreamcast and own both on ps4. Love love loved the first as I enjoyed the atmosphere and the real life approach of the village, town, and docks. I really loved it. But the second held no charm for me. I didn't enjoy the city and I definitely didn't enjoy the village and the journey to the village. I felt both were soulless. So my question is, for those that have played 3, is it likely given the information above that I'd enjoy this game? I don't have a much time on my hands as I did with 1. I'm just stuck whether this is worth it for me...

Forklift Simulator 2019 is cheaper.

A game that I spent years and years hoping they’d make and then once it was released I realised that I didn’t actually have much interest in playing it. But heat for the price.

this is sadly true, I felt rather annoyed at how there was zero story progression but i was still really happy to play it after such a long time. part 4 isnt likely at this rate. oh, the fighting mechanic was awful too! i didnt see any reviews that were honest about that. I can understand they had to ditch the virtua fighter 'engine' but still, just bonkers fighting. *Again, in spite of some flaws i still really enjoyed this game...*I am a biased kickstarter*

I see..

Greed? Ys Net took a lot of effort to make this project without SEGA & considering the budget, I think we got a very good Shenmue game - It's fully voice acted, which many games even Yakuza can't claim. While admittedly is slightly lacking in story progression, but still a very engaging setting and fun time to be had.

anlygi

That's why I avoided it despite loving the first 2, playing them on Dreamcast then again on PS4. Wait for almost 20 years for it and greed and arrogance took over. I can't see anymore games being made now so what's the point?

Somaflux

Be aware that you'll be paying with your time a lot more than your money on this one- it's a heck of a grind, and also pretty disappointing in just how little is accomplished in terms of moving the plot forward.
