So far had no issues with them and their customer service is actually good.
This offer is just in time to move my O2 number from £9 p/m to 0.99 p/m.
    Heat!

Yes please , move. But you will have to stay with them forever or you will lose number...they will say your details are not correct and no PAC . Also, after 2 months max, your offer plan will end with "unknown error" on renewal. Good luck! Been there, know all well.

Nearly lost my number I have for 17 years because of these crooks. Had to fight for it, involving my local MP.
Stay clear, please. Worst of the worst companies in telecoms!

Your local MP got involved to stop you losing your mobile number…?

AVOID- awful company! Wouldn't choose Lyca if they are the only provider left!
    Read reviews if in doubt

That's weird as I have had the totally opposite experience. They have done everything they are supposed to do and I even had a welcome customer service call to make sure I was happy with everything as was a new customer.

Anyone know the cheapest payg sim for things like trackers, signing up for sites, or just to have as a backup? Most "Payg" sims these days just mean a rolling 1 month contract rather than the old school pay per text/minute/MB. Like this Lyca one is 99p for 5GB but then it expires at the end of the month. And some true payg ones that i've seen requires a minimum of £5 to be topped up every 90 days or so otherwise they discontinue the sim, like Lebara. Found one called 1p which is similar.

I want to buy a sim and stick £5 maximum credit on it which I can then use to send an occasstional text or call, like 1 text or 1 minute call a month so the £5 should last a couple years without expiring. I get that they'll still require you to send a text once a month minimum to keep the sim active and thats fine, can just set one to automatically send.

Very poor company. Miraculous how often payment 'fails' one month into their 'deals', and thereafter they can only transfer you to a full price deal.

After paying, does the SIM's 30-day start then, or when the SIM arrives and I've activated it?

Sorry in advance if this is a silly question.

Just activated the bundle that I purchased 5 months ago (February). 4GB for 5 pence.
I did not set up account with them online as they want too much personal information. For Lebara you just need an email address.

    The question is.
    1. How do I stop this bundle and payments if I decide to move back to Lebara (1-5 months)?
    Also,
    2. Can I have a few SIMs (and numbers) in one Lyca account? Lebara allows 4 SIMs per email. Lyca wants a number (not email) to register an account. Do I really set up a new account for every SIM in Lyca?

    Thanks!
    KodaBear's avatar
    KodaBear
Porting your number will stop future payments. Otherwise you can disable auto renew.

Lyca don't have accounts based on a user profile but rather each number is it's own account as you discovered. That's how it works with them.

Currently on the second month of the 1p deal (for 6 months) but just received a text saying it will renew at 49p, has anyone experienced this?

Yes it always quote the normal price but you'll only be charged 1p

Can I get 5, £1.99 sims on same account and card?
    KodaBear's avatar
    KodaBear
You can get as many as you want as long as they’re all physical SIMs and not eSIM. Each mobile number is it’s own account. So you can use the same email address and payment card without issue.

Well I've got a totally different opinion of lyca! They have been superb, I've been with them for 3 months on the 99p deal that was listed on hukd about 3 months ago. They even gave me a quick courtesy call to see if I was happy with everything after a week which goes a long way in my book.

How long can you leave before activating? Esim support makes this a hell of a lot handier as a spare sim for traveling than my Lebara one.

Have been using this for a couple of months now on the 1p deal. Can't really complain but I haven't had to deal with their customer service. Can only get 4g on the latest updated iOS on the iPhone. I've been using this as a second sim and getting it swapped out for an e-sim was pretty quick and straightforward. Wouldn't risk using it as primary sim though and getting my number ported.

Their EU roaming used to work fine but seems to be rubbish now.

I am on their 15gb @ 0.94 offer that was posted recently and had no signal at Amsterdam. Lebara works fine but Lyca doesn't.

sim arrived yesterday. tried to enter teh info on the website to transfer over but it didnt like something. Phoned customer services and they sorted the transfer. At 08:30 could make calls on Lebra with my old number. AT 13:00 could get calls and texts.
    Very smooth transfer.
I've used O2 before so know signal will be fine.

There is no contract. Either obtain and use a PAC or STAC code, or simply switch off auto renewal. Either option will stop future payments from being taken.

A Lyca SIM permits access to o2's 2G/3G/4G/5G Networks so I see no reason why not.

Still on LTE in our area even with EE and speeds are terrible. Not even out in the sticks but around a major city with no issues with anyone else. CS is the reported poor, only managed to get a refund via Twitter.
