Dear ......
, We understand that you are concerned about the bundle renewal price. Please be informed that the text notification has been triggered for old customers incorrectly. 49p a month is applicable only to new customers who signed up on or after May 22, 2023. The MSE 3GB plan will be renewed at 1p for those who signed up prior to May 22, 2023.For terms and conditions of the plan, please refer to this link: lycamobile.co.uk/ucu…b/… Note: Old customers will get EU roaming data cap of 1 GB whereas new customers those who signed up after May 22, 2023, will get EU roaming data cap of 2.5 GB.To check plan or bundle allowances, dial *137# - Karthik from Lycamobile
It is terrible that they haven't made a system to use a PAC code between plans and that they don't leave a window open to replace card details and resume the plan. It was only one day later that I asked to update my card details after the payment was missed. Terrible service.
Don't keep it as a primary number and don't port primary number to them, one that you provide to banks. I kept getting issues of not receiving the authorisation codes from banks, vendors, resulted in having to visit bank branches to unlock the locked accounts.
The issue I faced most was my incoming sms and calls would stop working while outgoing worked fine.
You don't notice the issue until someone reports it or a bank account gets locked or a transaction is blocked as a fraud prevention team could not reach you.
They are also rubbish at allowing your number to be ported.
If you are a Lyca customer already you need to port out to another provider and back in.
Upload isn’t great
I have 6 weeks to go on my present Lyca sim. Can I get this and activate it in 6 weeks time. I will just use different e mail address. Not bothered about keeping number.
Comparing Lyca to Lebara (o2 to Vodafone) I am a bit disappointed.
Lebara for me has better coverage and data speed.
They tend to do this when they want rid of the cheaper promotion for a more expensive one.
I can't have the 1p any more, but could have the £1 deal, basically paying 99p extra per month for the same thing.
Customer care is also terrible
That said I have a 2nd line as esim on Lyca with 3GB data as a reserve.
At 1p its brilliant
At £1 I would probably still keep it
The phone can see it but I have no signal. My plan was also renewed last night, according to the latest email.
Called Lyca this morning and spoke with a lass in the Philippines.
Apparently, I need to wait 24~48 hours, while my problem is escalated to technical.
I will also be required to phone back for any update.
Then it will likely be another several days to receive a new SIM card...
FFS.... (edited)
A bizarre email. None of the SIM cards are anywhere near the end of the 6 months yet. Whilst they have successfully renewed (for now) at the 5p rate, it raises doubts as to whether they are going to renew next month. Is it any wonder people post negative comments about Lycamobile when every month seems to come with some issue or other that means you can never be sure your contract is just going to run smoothly and work (like almost every other MNVO seems to manage without difficulty!!!)
