I switched to Lyca a few months ago from Lebara and now I am back with Lebara (after the Lyca migration from O2 to EE). There where a couple of issues with this that I can cite, however, the biggest issue was the signal loss when moving from O2 to EE. So check the EE network coverage in your proposed areas. The other big issue for me was they don't currently support VoLTE. What does this mean? You can't access your data when on a phone call. The issue for me was I used Tomtom traffic to reroute me home from work, and I got stuck in a few jams when taking calls on my way home. Lebara supports VoLTE.

"Life's too short to deal with Lyca", is a motto I'm sticking to!

Shame they're with EE now, just wish Lebara was on EE!!

Pity they don't accept PayPal anymore, it was so easy just to cancel the agreement in PayPal to end the contract (edited)

Too many people on here seem to spent too much time calling their mobile provider. Me? I spend my time calling friends using the cheap deals, like this one. Many thanks for sharing.

I understand that Lyca runs on EE but they don't have access to all the ee frequencies so coverage isn't going to be as good as "real" ee.
Does anyone have any experience of using lyca around the country since they've moved to ee?
We do a lot of hiking and I like my wife and I to be on different networks as we walk in poor signal areas.
I'm happy with my lebara on Vodafone but o2 on my wife's isn't great and I'm wondering about jumping to lyca to get ee....

Use Cellmapper to check masts. If most of the masts don't have band 20 then coverage would be just as good as EE. If there's band 20 only masts then coverage won't be great.

It would definitely be worse In rural areas. (edited)

Been on this for five months now and they have been perfect. Switch was easy and I did it with 3 different lines. All went through withiut a hitch. Seriously do not know why everyone complains. Have to port out this month so let's see if that will be an issue.
    deleted531767's avatar
    That WILL be an issue.
  7. Fiaz_Shah's avatar
Is it possible to add this sim to an existing Lyca account that I've already ported out from. Looking to port back after my cheap lebara is finished.
    mutley1's avatar
to be on the safe side, just use a different email address and keep it separate from the old abandoned account.
  8. Apollopayne's avatar
Can you just close your account after 6 months?
    FastEddy's avatar
I'm sure you can PAC or STAC or just delete payment card and sim will expire.

    Works for me.

Been on it for a week, esim off the bat just worked. Great if you need a new number to be a ‘new’ customer for intro offers. Speed ok in and around London but nothing to write home about. Good for backup.

Is this still active? I tried the 3gb for 45p deal with 3 different cards but it kept coming up, transaction failed. They both seem to have come up at the same time so I wondered if they were still available and if anyone else had recently set a sim up
    dennisuv's avatar
Yesterday and day before but today it's worked revolt

Lyca customer services are really bad. Each representative I spoke to when i was in contract. Really did care
    DodgeySolenoid's avatar
What reason did you have, that required the need to contact customer services?
  13. HKerInLondon's avatar
This is the best deal now for 4GB - 5GB data users, given the offer lasts for first 6 months whilst Lebara only offers first 3 months.

To me Lyca vs Lebara is just like Aldi vs Lidl (edited)
    premierfella's avatar
Lyca are definitely the Aldi in that comparison!

First six months favourable price deals are always preferable whatever network, in this case for Lyca lovers. (edited)

e-sim right from the checkout too, i'm using the 89p/mo one to test EE signal in my area for a while.

Just switched back to Lebara from the last Lyca deal, Never had a problem with Lyca.
    WhiteElephant's avatar
Which Lebara deal did you get? I need to do the same. Tia
  18. Raggo_84's avatar
I’m trying to use topcashback to buy this plan but I can’t find it once it’s directed me to the Lyca website. Has anyone been able to do this? Thanks
  19. FastEddy's avatar
My friend and I switched to Lyca a few months ago, So far it has been fine.
Porting my number in took only 12 hours.
We are unlimited for £10pm for 6 months.
Roaming worked really well in Bulgaria, Fast speeds and watching Youtube etc.
    Give them a try!
    hotdealsuk1973's avatar
how did you port your number over ?
  20. lawhec's avatar
After the way they handled their service migration from O2 to EE, you couldn't pay me to use their services now. Simply untrustworthy, and that's without any issues from others concerning customer support & porting out.
    Cold.

I don't need this deal immediately but in a couple of months when my current contract expires...if I purchase it but don't activate, will I still be auto-paying £1.49 per month immedately? If not, I'm assuming you just get charged the initial £1.49? How long have you got to activate from purchase?
  22. whyvpn's avatar
Terrible company to deal with. If you have any problems then you would have wished you had never signed up with them. The free offers are a trap for newbies. Please avoid.
  23. valuz91's avatar
My two cents on Lyca, besides the fact it took a month to actually get the SIM (maybe it was Evri's fault, let's give them the benefit of the doubt), I was left completely cut off from my connection with no explanation while on holiday in the EU.

I had been abroad for 2-3 days when they cut my roaming and started charging me (which, as you can imagine burnt through my balance in no time) with no prior warning. After my balance ended, I had no further connection at all.

I had not used even 300MB out of my 20GB plan when this happened, so I'm assuming it wasn't related to their "fair usage" policy, but who knows.

Even after a complaint, I still got no resolution (a month later) or info on what happened. The complaints department is appalling as they keep asking me for basic stuff they should be able to check on their own, like my phone number, balance or what country I was roaming from.

I moved back to Lebara with no regrets.
  24. Jon_Red's avatar
I thought it was 10GB for 89p and can’t remove my heat.
  25. westspeed's avatar
still working yesterday. Buy as a second SIM for data so no worries about losing your number and esim is very easy
  26. robertfrancis1975's avatar
Do they make it difficult to cancel? Im tempted to try out a 6 months deal to use as a second sim.

    I will use Lebara mostly.
    mikspe's avatar
You just stop paying them. Use a prepaid debit card to sign up.
  27. bee.jones's avatar
My current Lebara SIM deal hasn't run out yet. How long do I have before needing to activate this SIM please?
    mad2477's avatar
I did mine in 20 mins using an ‘rain’. Still waiting for my number to port though 2 days later…
  28. aLV426's avatar
What happened to all the penny deals and wasn't there a 45p/m deal on here earlier?
    Aahh's avatar
I had a 5p p/m Lyca deal started back in March, it'll be rising up to £4.99 p/m next month. This seems mostly the same so I might port out of the old contract and onto this one. Same bundle as the 5gb above, just different prices.

I don't think any penny deals are around anymore!
  29. thechief's avatar
I’ve been pretty happy with Lyca, only used CS once and she was very helpful. For the money I’m paying I can’t complain
  30. hotdealsuk1973's avatar
i have afew different lines for family members all are overpriced

so i'm going to test lyca out with my back up line hoping that its a smooth transition and i'll do the same for the rest

i've noticed theres nowhere to put the pac code on the link supplied just payment details ?

    wish me well lol
    jd121's avatar
You'll have to call them up to switch. They'll do it quickly like that.

I'm in Norfolk and out in the sticks, it can be patchy.
I have an O2 sim also in phone and its patchy the same.
  33. julianstephensbebe's avatar
is this bogus ? its not available when you got to the Lyca web page not the link
    FastEddy's avatar
    ??

"Get deal" takes you to 89p offer on Lyca website.
The link goes to their webpage.
  34. Shockwave1's avatar
This not the 100 mins International sim so change the title, its only for Europe US and china
  35. gobble_bobble's avatar
They round you data usage up to the nearest 20kb. Did I read that right? If you cancel the renewal they retroactively bill you full price? Did I read that right?
    Scrooge_McDuck's avatar
No, to get the exclusive price you need to have auto-renewal turned on. If you request it to be turned off your offer effectively ends.

    50860794-RtZYA.jpg

Has the offer expired? Did I just get a sim for £0.89 and that’s it? No plan/deal? Why does it want to top up £1 every month with my ‘saved’ card (offer was £0.89 / mo ) ? (edited)
  39. samatshu's avatar
    Ordered one, thanks OP. Heated!
