I got this offer 10 days ago, billed £1.49 on the day of ordering.
    Arrived next day.
Things need to be done in order.
Put sim in phone and dial *123# something like that. Details in email.
Had to do it 3 times before it registered.
Then I signed up via desktop. Then app.
Waited until Monday and ported my number.
Porting went off with no issues at all on Tuesday.
Got a text to say it would port and then at about 14.00pm another to say all done.
    Turned off phone, switched sims.
Dialled home and number had changed.
5G is good, indoors 60mb and outdoors 300 plus.
Will switch in 5-6 months for another sub £2 offer I hope.

i have now had 4 lyca sim and when i put the sim into the phone, i just need to wait for about 10 minutes and the plan automatically activates without me having to do anything. never had to dial any number and i never got any instructions to activate the sim except to put it into the phone.

Any main network offer anything close to this?

Also when it comes to cancelling and the rolling contract, how does it work? Make sure you cancel at the end of your billing cycle basically and you should be golden?
    mutley1's avatar
you turn off auto renew on the website, not the app as apparently turning the auto renew on the app doesn't register with lyca and so they will continue to take the money. you can turn off auto renew at any time. you should also remove the payment card details from your account to be safe.

Excellent prices especially for 6 months.

However, LycaMobile does have limitations such as No wifi calling, and data/sms turned off when on voice calls.

I’m hoping that Lebara can offer similar 6 month deals as I can’t wait to switch back to Lebara from LycaMobile!
    Delboyplc's avatar
And Lyca seems to take about a minute to connect a voice call and have had lots of messages saying missed calls even when not on a call. It only started to happen when they moved to EE. So bad that I moved back to Lebara and now the service is excellent. It might be cheap but for me it was unusable!!!!

Check out Trustpilot before switching to Lyca. My experience of lyca was recommending this offer to my girlfriend, which I now regret. She was previously an o2 customer, and I told her she was overpaying. She nearly lost access to her mobile number. They didn't honour the discounted rate. Due to an alleged billing error by debit card, the discounted rate was removed 2m in. Still, she stayed with them, then 8m later they claimed topup fraud despite using the same card details as used every month and and having confirmation by her bank it went through, sms and email from Lyca that the topup was successful the number stopped working without notice. Customer services required card details, passport, and personal info by email before they would unlock to verify she was who she said she was and wouldn't give her the PAC and held her hostage. They were the rudest call centre I have ever dealt with. Now moved to Lebara. Save your time and avoid these tricky people or set up auto billing from the start and use it as a spare sim, not one you need for two factor authentication.
    robmiller667's avatar
My card was stopped due to a separate fraud and because I didn't update the account with new details in time, lyca cannot offer the same promo as I was on before.

As others have said, set up auto renew to avoid this problem.  Didn't seem normal not to be able to resume the plan but hey ho.

Customer service is likely to reflect this is a low cost operator.  probably similar kind of situation if you compare virgin or BA with easyjet customer services
  5. HKmilktea's avatar
Anyone know if I just paid for a monthly fee from Lebara, what is the next best time to switch or does it matters? Thanks.
    mutley1's avatar
I switch when there is one week left before renewal, to give you enough time to port over your number. This offer finish end of this month though. So best buy it before the end of the month but don't activate it until you need to switch from Lebara in a few weeks time.
  6. emontes's avatar
Just a heads up that roaming in Europe you can't use your entire allowance (ie: 10GB plan - you're able to use up to 3GB of data for no extra charge) , nonetheless, great deal!
  7. khang365's avatar
is ringing Lyca phone numbers still charged or part of inclusive minutes now?

I remember Lyca having their phone numbers starting with 074,and would get charged instead of being inclusive minutes.
    mutley1's avatar
All part of inclusive minutes now. Been so for many years.
  8. NoddyBoy's avatar
can we cancel it after say 2 months?
    cochin007's avatar
Yes you can. If I cancel the payment it stops... it's prepaid plan...no direct debit. I changed the cars and I had to move to Lebara since Lyca said they can't help to give back the plan
  9. benbojangles's avatar
I cant login to my lyca account anymore, and i can't cancel lyca payments from my bank account as there are no direct debits setup with lyca according to my bank. I can't get through to lyca using *321#. I have 2 months left of the 45p offer. Help?!
    thedoctor2010's avatar
You can cancel Auto-renewal by dialling *190# and entering 1 to confirm the cancelation.
  10. JPS's avatar
Cracking deal for 6 months use, then switch back to a Lebara introductory offer and then eventually back to Lyca introductory offer again and keep on repeating
    mutley1's avatar
Yeah, that is what I am doing now. Saved a fortune as I have been doing this for 4 SIM plans.
  11. unclem0nty's avatar
Personally - having experience of both - I'd pay the (modest) extra and go with Lebara.

Lyca are pretty awful in general - especially EU roaming, which I've found patchy at best. No such issues with my cheapo Lebara sims.

I got my sim at the weekend (£1.49 deal). Got round to activating it last night. Takes absolutely ages to register on to the network and activate. Managed the website registration process this morning which was slow and painful - each step of the process takes ages to progress on to the next because the website is so slow.
Dashboard says I havent got 'any credit and to register on to a plan'. Well, I used the £1.49 link to get the sim, the email says I am on the £1.49 for six months MSE plan, but this is nowhere to be found on my dashboard.
I have been charged £1.49 for the sim.
    Online chat doesnt work.
    This is painful.
    ns15's avatar
I've got same issue. Signed up for the 45p sim only for 6 months deal, and got the sim card on the weekend. Attempted to activate yesterday (gave up after 1 hour of trying) and today (it worked on Lyca app).
The app shows this is a PAYG sim, even though 45p already debited my account when signing up for the sim only 6 months deal.
Can't make calls as i get a auto message saying i have insufficient credit and to top up.
I'm guessing this is affected by the current issues with their systems - who knows when this will be sorted?!
Wont be porting my number over until its sorted (edited)

    can't see 3gb, 45p/m anymore
    bozo007's avatar
Click on Show All Deals, then go to Filter and choose 3GB+
  14. adamski88's avatar
cant see the deal clicking through the link? dont see it on lyca's site either
  15. smile78's avatar
Worst decision to jump on this network. As people have mentioned, no WiFi calling, cannot use mobile data when on call and receive missed call messages when phone near me and not in use. Also cannot call some usual mobile or landlines numbers.
    mutley1's avatar
I had the same problem with calls when Lyca was on O2 but since they moved to EE, the problems seemed to have gone away. Maybe it depends on whether EE signal is good in your area or not.
  16. Royo's avatar
Can you port from lyca themselves? or do you need to port to another company and then back again?
    mutley1's avatar
out to another mobile provider then port back.
  17. gundaa007's avatar
Proper $>\t customer service. Loads of issues! I would not consider it
  18. first_last_uk's avatar
So if auto-renewal is off and I use it only for a month, will I be charged a full price? Some of these plans have this caveat
    mutley1's avatar
No, you can switch off auto renewal on the website in your account and remove the payment card details, and it won't take any money. It is a monthly rolling contract rather than a 12 months contract.
  19. ndksamb's avatar
Managed to get an 3gb esim up and running in spare phone. Just seen there's no spend cap,If it gets used up will you have to purchase another bundle or does it add it automatically as they have your bank details
    afn's avatar
The bundle lasts for 30 days then it auto renews and they take payment from your card. You would have to top up credit to use it if you use all the allowance within the month.
  20. Original_Username_20's avatar
Great for a cheap backup e-sim when Lebara/Vodafone doesn’t work. Cheers.
    tascheman's avatar
My thoughts exactly. Just took out a 3 120GB 12 month contract which should work out around £6 a month after cashback.

Will probably get this as a backup eSIM
  21. youngchap's avatar
    Wish it was 1p

How is this any different to the existing deals posted by a month ago?
    mutley1's avatar
It's the same deal. It has been reposted.
  23. bestpricebob's avatar
Nice... waiting for the 1p sims

    Me too
  24. Aiadi's avatar
Just tried this eSIM business and so love the concept. Makes you realise how backward the networks in this country are not utilising this technology universally. (edited)
    taffyjock1's avatar
Because it's easier to swap a physical sim between phones also the ability to easily switch network if yours is being stupid.
  25. ehsangreat's avatar
Active my sim been charged 99p instead of 45p,and can only make calls to 07 numbers can't make calls to 03 number even its free a
From all other networks, I would not recommend this network to anyone, please pay extra but stay away from lyca
  26. Mr_SMG's avatar
Last time i got Lyca esim for a holiday. MSE deal in summer for £1.99pm 15GB. Got £7 TCB. Cancelled it after 2 months. So in effect they paid me £3 and I got 2 months of free usage. Network worked really well here and abroad. Happy days!
    Ferris's avatar
How did you get TCB on a MSE deal?
  27. saf_khan's avatar
Can’t see the 45p deal anywhere ? Cheapest is 99p (edited)
    Aretak's avatar
The deal link has 5GB+ selected in the filters. Just change it to 3GB+ to see the 45p plan.
  28. Matthew_Ayre's avatar
I switched to these last month as so cheap. The phone signal in Cardiff is horrendous and no-one can ever get hold of me by calling. Will move elsewhere next month
  29. Dona3853's avatar
Switched to the Lyca 10GB deal about 2 weeks ago from Plusnet as wanted to stay on a network that used EE. Activating and porting number was easy and quick. Getting same sort of signal and coverage as with Plusnet. Just waiting to see if the renewal at the end of the month goes as planned and if so will be switching the other 3 Plusnet sims in our house to Lyca.
  30. sorin_matei's avatar
Just a quick warning to who is tempted to take it. DO NOT. I've been with Lyca for the last 7 years....decent prices and really good network. Nowadays its basically the most unreliable network. No service most of the time. Everywhere!!
  31. vishchit99's avatar
    Rubbish customer service LYCA
  32. cheekyp123's avatar
I had one of these sims before when they were using O2 and my experience was AWFUL. So difficult to activate it, the highest data speed I could get was 2Mbps and the coverage was terrible. Thought i'd try again now they're with EE and I have been pleasantly surprised so far. Sim activated on its own, coverage seems really good and speedtest reports 75Mbps in my bedroom in a semi-rural area. Number is due to be ported tomorrow and they have been updating me on the status of this via sms and the portin was never a problem last time I was with them so all seems good!

If you tried them before and had a bad experience I would reccomend to try them again! Also e-Sims are now available if you're into that and I have read on a couple of news sites when googling that "The partnership (with EE) will also provide Lyca Mobile customers with future access to services such as WiFi calling."
    So watch this space!

6th month with their 1p deal for 3GB and happy so far after their move to EE. Speeds improved dramatically and roaming is excellent now. From bad things - some calls goes as missed and txts not arrive or been delivered every few days. Good as 2nd sim, would not transfer my main number to Lyca.

Same issue here, have managed to register but every time I tried to make a call it tells me to buy a bundle but I’ve already bought the 45p bundle confused
  36. Cyrus_Chan's avatar
*137# said I have no bundle..........
    Professor_Chaos's avatar
ah. I see its a common problem then. Did you speak to online chat? Try getting through to them LOL

Shambles, can’t make any calls. Their owner is probably in Manchester for the conference and nothing will be done until he returns.
    Professor_Chaos's avatar
    True

what a way to run a network

Theyve lost my business As a result of this

i was ready to port two numbers to Lyca too but not any more
  38. innocent's avatar
So many Lyca subscribers on this thread are commenting about unprecedented problems they are facing but nobody has actually said that Lyca might be going down the pan. Strange.
    tempt's avatar
Ouch, that is a possibility. KPMG recently resigned as their auditors and the company is under investigation by HMRC.

I only got one month renewal, then the next renewal was broken, saying my credit card was expired but it wasn't. The promotion was removed. Very bad company. They called me to try the promo renewal, but they never did.
  40. Stars101's avatar
does anyone know if i order this today can i activate it in november?
    tohslaed's avatar
Seen on previous posts that it's 120 days, but I've done one past that date by about a week and it worked so pretty sure November will be no problem.
