Smarty throttling - 5G Sim Router

Posted 14th Sep 2023
Hello all,

Anyone suffer from Smarty throttling the unlimited data at busy times?

Just did a speed test at 7:20PM and getting 1-2mbs down.

Sometimes get 600mbs down in this very same spot.

Using a ZTE 5G router.

Thanks!

It's illegal to throttle any BB speeds. However, getting slower speeds due to heavy contention, that's normal. (edited)

It's a sim rather than broadband so I'm unsure that would apply.

Are you sure it hasn’t dropped back to a 3G/4g band.

Three used to do funny things before, look at changing to a different APN.

I've no idea. Today it's back up to acceptable levels so if that happens again, I may have to look into doing that.

Are there any instructions for recommended settings with the APN I can follow?

I've had speed issues with my Three sim - but 95% caused by the local mast playing up and kicking me down to 4g and thus going from 600mbs to a flakey 20mbs

I had another situation where the internet was so unstable for days - swapped to my 2nd SIM and it was fine again

busy times mean more people accessing and the bandwidth goes down - do you live in a pretty dense area?
