'Dickies Heavy Duty Waterproof' - ideal for those with no girlfriends not to get blisters on their hands (lol)

fireman1

I also bought a few last year. The one pair of 'heavy duty' ripped to shreds after shifting a few bricks. I wouldn't buy again either.

Steveyorkie

I paid a tenner for the waterproof ones late last year. Nice gloves but you sweat a lot in them and the inside get nasty.

dougieboy

£8.33 for GL01WP - the waterproof ones. I don’t think so.

forzagarza

They’re not the same type of glove though. £18 for the Dickies is about right, £60 rrp is ridiculous.

xuyogukoy

Lovely and light, feel good but the laces are enormous for trainers.

Proveright

Looks like they are all OOS. Keep an eye on Screwfix range, their sales every week often reduce safety boots down in price to £20 or below and they have lots of different types.

I'm still waiting on my Gearbest "BOSS" (cough) belt - ordered on the 18th November! Some Dickies gear is decent as workwear, no idea about their belts.

kamenitzabrit

My first thought on seeing the picture was that it was a reasonable price for a pair of trousers, but nothing special........... then I read the description and realised it was only a belt ! Fair enough if it's some sort of fashion brand perhaps, but do you really want to advertise 'dickies' - it's the sort of brand I would want to hide to be honest.

IndyS

not bad for a wide leather belt, hot

4TheMenyNotTheFew

16 quid for a belt with someone else's name on it, ya havin a laf.

Yes I bought a load of there coats ripped like tissue paper

The Dickies stuff seems hugely variable, a couple of pairs of jeans were the worse I've ever had, pockets and zips barely made it to the end of the month but the Antrim boots wore really well and fitted nicely with excellent build quality. Check reviews first and be careful I suppose.

Ripperoo

I cannot comment on "Scruffs", but my Dickies black cargo work trousers costing £20+ are rubbish in comparison to the "Workwear" ones I picked up from Aldi a while back. In fact, I bought another 3 pairs since (£6.99 on sale) and find them more comfortable, versatile, much thicker than the paper thin "Dickies"and they were less than half the price of the "Dickies" which I've not worn since. The cargo shorts are great as well. Also, the "Dickies' polo shirts are pretty grim too. They were on offer, but that's no excuse to be that poor.

Not got long if you want to order them, too, runs out at midnight (or whenever Dickies update their website prices) :p Edit: Maybe I'm having a brain fart and it actually runs out at 23:59 on 1st October, which would make more sense :D

Shinoke

Great deal, cheers OP. Unfortunately the Dickies Heavy Duty Gloves were only available in XXL when I ordered - guess they were popular, and XL sold out? Ordered most in XL and L, so I can try them on. Was going to measure my hand but there's no size guide, and then realised I could just use some of my existing work gloves to try - which are size 9 or 10. So L or XL should hopefully work. These are essentially slightly tweaked KONG gloves: http://ironclad.com/all-kong-gloves-2/ So a good deal from the looks of it. Although you can get some of the KONG gloves and some of the Dickies gloves off eBay etc. for around £10-£15 depending on the glove Would be nice if they did something lighter weight too - just a good DIY glove. These are real rigger gloves it seems. Good to have a heavy duty pair of gloves though.

Steveyorkie

Sounds like a size up would help. Fingers are on the long side buy not a problem for me in my job. Imho, well worth a tenner a pair, obviously cos I've bought another 5 pairs.

louiselouise

Boyf did all the measurements to determine his glove size before ordering (size M) - and all he's done is moan about them! He says they're too tight, digits are a tad too long and there's not much room for manoevure with the fingers. Maybe the Thinsulate-lined ones (the RRP £60, waterproof gloves) need a bit more "breaking in" or maybe he needs a size up, not sure.

Steveyorkie

Tried the heavy duty gloves and the waterproof gloves today. When I started work it was pissing it down so I put the waterproof gloves on. Being new they took a bit of getting used to and too thick for fiddly job. Performed well and kept my hands dry and warm. It has a soft fleecy type of lining.only problem, hard to put on with damp or wet hands. I ordered XL. The other gloves are thinner and more flexible, although not waterproof kept my hands dry. Easier to get on and off. Ordered XL. The grip on both pairs was great and the finger protection felt very good. I have ordered another 5 pairs but XXL.

adamgrice

I have a pair of these for going to watch footy and they've lasted a season and still look new. They were £17.95 new off eBay so dunno where the £80 price comes from. If I was using for industrial purposes, I'd value my feet more than £20 but for footy crowds and for people stepping on toes - ideal.

chaffordred

Bought these from Screwfix, they ended up in the wheelie bin within a week. They fell apart soon after I bought them and they have to be the most uncomfortable work boots I've ever worn. They are very heavy too. See all those little gimmicky silver triangle things? I think they're held on with Pritt Stick. As soon as they come into contact with anything they fall off. Never has the saying 'buy cheap, buy twice' been more apt. As others have said, invest in a proper pair of industrial boots that will last.

EastLondon

Dickies boots i had were crap and gave blisters. Scruffs boots are much better and can be found around the same price
