Good deal. Again, if they were honest, this would just be standard price but right now it's definitely a good deal.

If you have amazon prime i believe.

cooley

You can but you will have to also install mouse toggle app. "Cinema" is similar to showbox and no need for mouse toggle, Google it.

robertr

Yes, for Amazon music if you use it.

haybr

I think you pay more for music, certainly for more than one device but I think there’s a few pounds a month for prime music separate to normal Prime.

Smash77

If you buy this bundle from Amazon it will be registered to person account who bought it so its not good if you are buying to give as a gift or selling for profit, if bought from Argos or Currys it comes unregistered so whoever power it on first can register with their own account. This might help!

I've just ran a speed test comparison with my old 4k fire tv and the new 4k fire stick. I live in an old victorian house, mega thick brick walls, solid wood doors. I tested it in the back bedroom which is furthest away from the BT hub 5 router which is downstairs in the front reception room. I personally i think the BT hub 5 router is a sack of cr@p. It's running on the 2.4ghz frequency band. My old 4k fire tv box gets 48-50Mbps consistently. The new 4k fire stick consistently gets 25-26Mbps. The majority of the difference is most certainly down to the power delivered to the box. 15v to the fire tv box and 5.25v to the fire tv stick. I suppose it is to be expected really. You need to consider the performance of your wifi which can be affected by the structure of your house and interference from other devices. Hope this helps :-)

Daft question time, is your Firestick registered to your Amazon account (the same one you use to buy things from Amazon.co.uk)? If it is, you buy what you want to buy (have to enable one click purchasing first). Then you go to your orders/subscriptions and there should be an option to deliver to your device. Then go back to your Firestick, make sure you're signed in, start the Amazon app, and go to My Apps. It should be there. Don't go to installed apps, it won't be there obviously. But to be honest, the last time I did this was a while back. So you might want to read this page first: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201357460 How to register device: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201452550

3rd Gen was a downgrade from this, what makes you think 4th gen will be better?

JustinBedford

New model coming out within a few months that should have inbuilt echo and ethernet

RiverDragon8

2nd gen box is faster and better than the 3rd gen box (has microSD slot, ethernet, usb port). The 3rd gen box sits in between the 2nd gen fire stick and the 2nd gen TV box. If this was £20 cheaper I would vote hot.

The main drawback for me with this over an android box is that it has the same problem as I have with my earlier Amazon 4K TV box in that there is no SPDIF out, so I can not use it with my projector. Watching content on the TV is fine as I can use the audio out of the TV through my surround sound system but I had to buy an android box with SPDIF out to use when watching on my projector

pimpchez

Stable software that updates without malware. Remote works , interface works and never needs rebooting . I have had gen 1 since launch an it still runs iptv , kodi and terrarium without issues... The only issue you have is that the remote doesnt have enough buttons for IPTV shortcuts

Onlydongles

Is this too much an improvement on say £20-30 Android boxes? Can anyone post some indicative comparisons of the pros and cons between the two? Thanks

woster

I thought so too. Never mind! :)

Well the amazon stick gives you what a smart tv has. However you can have live tv, games and other kinds of apps that you would need if you have a tv that is not near an Ariel cable. However as you already have a PS4 and a smart tv and a fire stick there isn’t much point of getting another one. The echo dot is a different story but it depends if you would use it or not. It can be the centre of your house, you can ask it questions, set timers, turn lightbulbs on and off (if you have a smart bulb) and much more. It really just depends if you would use it or not. Seeing as you already have a fire stick there probably isn’t much point in getting this deal and just wait to see if there is a deal with just the echo dot.

deleted1836930

I got this with Prime delivery on Amazon for one pound more but only because I can't be bothered to walk a mile from the entrance to the collection desk at my local Tesco to be met by a queue of people doing the lottery. Plus parking and getting back out again as I don't shop there. I go to M&S don't you know.

I've put 1st gen in kids room and 2nd in living room, but I've had them running on 2 tell us side by side and there's no real difference, although I totally reset it every so often All I have on mine is iptv, terrarium, Netflix, Amazon and YouTube (through firefox), and uninstall / disabled everything I can. It runs a lot smoother and quicker without all their bundled crap, especially that stupid Alexa.

amour3k

Lol, "almost like they want you to use their own vod service". Though strictly speaking, that may not 100% be the case, lol, in a round about kind of way, you may not be as far off the mark as you may think perhaps?. After all (as a good example), Amazon website refuses to sell the Google Chrome Cast upon it ... (because the Chrome Cast directly mirrors similar features as that of what it's own Fire Stick does). It reminds me of certain stories I read about last year also, that went along the lines of this, Apple was disabling the functionality of the Google Chrome Browser on it's iDevices/iProducts, but interestingly enough, the Mozilla Firefox Browser had absolutely no issues running/functioning upon those same said Apple list of products ... (There are no doubt many other examples out there of similar misgivings perhaps?, but those were my 2 notable ones anyway). So, in the grander scheme of things (so to speak), who knows what some of these Industrial Giant's are truly up to?, lol.

amour3k

I've never tried LiveNetTV before, what is it like? - in relation to other similar App's like Mobdro etc etc, for example?, it's been a while since I used Mobdro (last year sometime), so I'm not sure if/how it's changed since, for a direct line for like comparison on it, etc?). I've tried Terrarium before too, and that's not half bad either (excellent for TV Shows, but dead in the water for Movies though - even though it blatantly has a 'Movie' section within it, looooool). What other one's are out there? (of the same/similar ilk to Mobdro, LiveNetTV, and Terrarium?), thanx.

amour3k

PM them to me perhaps?, thanx.

nougat

I haven't changed mine since new in Nov. Using panasonic eneloops
