Any better options, for £900? I think people are getting very caught up in the whole "why would you want a 7th gen when 8th gen are out now" whereas in reality, how much difference would I really notice on a day to day basis? I will not be playing games on it.

How did you manage to enter the codes onto your account?

The initial 9 month code I believe you can only obtain when you first set your printer up.

Find a referral link and then signup from there which will automatically give you 1 month. Then somewhere early on it asks you if you have any codes which you put in the one that came from your printer for another 9. Finally you go through all the setup and right at the end is a promotion code box which you can put the 2 months code in. Hope that all makes sense.

My usage is minimum like couple of pages per month for my kid primary home work.... it is annoying to go shop at night after work to print a single page.. if buy a printer i know the ink will dry up because of no use.. and no point just printing couple page every month to save ink but it is not environment friendly.... Any recommendation what to buy i do want color print.....

The free plan was an option on my printer thati got a few months ago, but I believe you have to select it from the set up and therefore cannot make use of the max allowance during the trial and then downgrade to it.

I have an Envy printer with Instant Ink deal and I've grown to dislike it intensely.
It has trouble picking up pages for A4 sheets, with HP paper, and will not pick up photo sized paper at all.
I've been paying the £1.99 a month for the Instant Ink for over a year and despite going over the monthly page limit sometimes, I've never needed to replace the ink and have not received any in the post, so it is actually quite expensive for ink, the cost is hidden in the monthly payment.

The driver on windows randomly uninstalls and needs reinstalling. The WiFi on the printer is often disconnected and a printer restart is needed before I can print.

So I'm looking for a new printer.
Edited by: "androoski" 13th Aug 2017
I've had this printer for over a year now and i've been impressed, quiet (at lot quieter than my old epson, i cant actually hear this print when im downstairs), decently priced inks and good functionality and print quality.
Obviously not the same printer but I have the HP 5540 and I'm massively unimpressed with it.
prints look washed out with HP instant ink on HP paper
scanner is slow and very poor, can't cope with light shades of any colour .. e.g. Light blue or brown comes out grey.
To cap it all it randomly crashes now and needs a restart after 1 hourr, and it's only 18 months old
