Link for toaster

1.25lt, bit small, most are 1.7lt

Picked this up today, along with the matching toaster. For an extra ~£12 they’re both covered for 3 years with unlimited returns if any faults/rust/de-enamelling occurs. So could trade them both in after 35 months for a new shiny set XD

The "enamel" coming off around the lid isn't unique to this kettle. It's a common "feature" of all these type of painted stainless steel kettles. (y)

This exact same argument has done the rounds on HUKD for many years.. as a war of the brands. We bake alot, & any mixer encountering dough is going to have the hardest time regardless of how good it is, but beyond what you can see the gearing mechanisms & ratios for the speed controllers also take a hit, ..I prefer metal cogs wherever possible, which tend not to chip & slip under duress (anyone overcranked a wind up radio for a vague sort of comparible context)? The taller a mixer is the heavier it needs to be & wider stability in its platform, & this is where ( favour the heavy blocks of the higher priced kenwood's we have had the KM010 since new (now superceded) its a heavy beast but still needs a firming hand when dough is involved, ..the rule therefore is be around while mixing, in case it starts bucking. If "pretty" is your thing above all else then likely you will go for a kitchenaid, the Kenwood K mix is a more recent "pretty" challenger to kitchenaid, compared to the block bodied traditional Kenwood "chef" range ..& there are some sucky low end units there. End of the day, your preference as to aesthetics & operation, both have a good hit rate, both will encounter problems either by chance or by misuse, both have a lot of folk who have one used intermittently for he past 20 -40 years & are going strong. Likely you'll only ever need some food grease to refresh / replace an old unit & rejuvenate it. Both have taken a knock in quality over the years, but both stand head & shoulders above many other brands as they are pretty Both are pretty much top of the domestic / semi pro tree at least where the "do-it all" mixers are concerned. as to the reset, anyone's guess. Mine was given to me as a replacement for a lesser unit which was falsely advertised (the Patissier) for having a speed controller with "X" speeds didn't, marketing fail resulting in a refund & a much better kit for nowt, ...excellent customer service (then). Whirlpool / hotpoint / indesit / kitchenaid didn't always have the best stock levels for spares service,(for kitchenaid) but that was years ago. Nope, I have never watched any of those bloody baking contest programmes. (poo)

It is only good enough for smaller batches. There is a bit of plastic which breaks if you overwork this. You need to look at other brands for more powerful motors which are built more solidly. The link below explains why, and how to replace the plastic gear - there is a hard Nylon "Worm Gear" which will break under heavy load.

useful to know in future, ta!

Thanks for your message. I've found this video on YouTube that I'm going to try since it's quite a bit of wobble at a lower setting.

i get a bit of wobbling too, but its never been an issue/worry.... what speed are you mixing on? i never really take it over halfway. i suspect taking it higher that that isn't a good idea, but then why would you want to

Hi, I have trouble with this model with thicker dough. The head wobbles up and down when it's working. Any tips? Thanks

Got kmix under amazon warehouse deal for 110 gbp...excellent purchase

The thing that sold the KMIX to me at the time was that it’s more powerful - or at least it was at the time. They both have superlative build quality so I think for the most part it’s a matter of which looks best in your kitchen. There’s no doubt in my mind that you’re partly paying for the name with KitchenAid, although they go out of their way to ensure they show up on shows like Bake Off. The KMIX did have one year on Bake Off though. The KitchenAid has a twee 1950s look that I think people enjoy.

Thanks for the tips. I'm looking for a mixer for the kitchen and currently weighing up the pros and cons of various machines before making a decision (y)

Mine has a stainless steel bowl, although they can be bought pretty cheaply if yours is glass. I’ve done some heavy duty mixing in mine and it’s been really solid - I use it for everything from cakes to bread dough to cookie batter to meatballs to kebab meat to mashed potatoes. You can even use it to shred chicken. Just checked when I bought mine and it was 2012, so time flies.

Have you got the one with a glass bowl? I've read that they are not very durable as the plastic locking ring of the bowl snaps/jams quite easily.

Out of stock, and a waste of money - you still have to scrape down the bowl. Bought mine last year. Better off buying a generic one from Wish.

Good find, but why are these accessories so expensive? They really can't be that expensive to manufacture. It does look like ugly profiteering.

Decent prices. Looks to have the same reductions on amazon. This, the meat grinder attachment, and the glass bowl are all about the same with shipping...

Cyber Monday deal for 24 hours, available in silver, grenadine and aqua sky.

Every other day there is a "deal" for this at £270. And even at this price is is 50% too much.

They definitely don’t look like the artisan model, but fab price for the aqua colour (y)

I’ve been tracking Kitchenaid prices for the last month, voted hot as the aqua and silver colours are at a very good price. John Lewis and Curry’s have ones that are slightly more in different colours , however these are the 4.8l model whereas this is the 4.3l. It doesn’t say it, however I think these could be the ‘classic’ models not the newer ‘artisan’ ones. Googling around suggests a lower powered motor but I couldn’t confirm that for certain.

Sharpen knife. Watch crazy as fk dumb ass sister chop against glass, leave lying around then chuck in with 'washing up', wash and then force blade into cutlery drainer among other cutlery. Zen out the frikkin window. Really I've given up on having a nice sharp knife in the house.

Ooh yeah, that's what I'm after!

Try here... Japanese whetstone (y)

I'm after a whetstone set for life, which make it a pleasure to use in a meditative zen kind of way, that I can pass onto the great great grandchildren to use (not in the cot), any suggestions? I'm talking old school.

Kitchen aid Artisan Empire red, latest model. Bundle with over £100 of extras - £329 @ Harts of Stur
This is the most current kitchen aid from the 125 series. The extras are free as the cheapest price I found this on its own is £329

It's currently on kitchen aids website. The new models have the logo embossed instead of painted. From the best of my knowledge this is a current model

Thats the discontinued 125 so not sure where you get that its the most current model from ??? The 185 is the most current model then the 175 then the discontinued 150 and 125.

Lot of money to mix a bit of dough.

This is the one I got off the hubby last year, I got 3 attachments, the platter guard and the metal bowl is much better than the glass. The colour of this ones gorgeous too. It’s a fantastic mixer and well worth the money, you know the saying, you buy cheap you buy twice ;)

Thanks, just reserved, not sure what the difference is between he 150 and the 180 presume it’s the size. It’s a gift for the wife, all I know is these are the best but that’s about it. Also I’ve seen some come with freebies, not sure if this does?
