My local doesn't have any stock in the colour I was after :( Thought I'd just have a look on Amazon and it appears they've priced matched it! Happy days. Thanks for the heads up.

Just picked up last 2 grey from Edmonton. Nice one

This is a great deal but ends today (Monday) Same product selling for over £23 at my local diy store per tin so a great saving even if you stock up now and do it 'later' (embarrassed)

Great find op! Unfortunate for me they dont have the non slip decking paint 😞

I'm normally a fan of Creoseal but after having to repaint my fence after only two years cos it faded, think I may have to question my loyalties. :o

Ben N Jerrys have branched out! Or its a completely original new fence flavour!

Haven't taken any pics yet with two coats.

I've painted my fence and gate with this in the last month. Looks really good and even looked okay with just one coat (still finishing the second). Harvest gold is basically orange.

This paint is cheap for a reason.. absolute rubbish. Cuprinol all day in my opinion.

Ronseal One Coat Timbercare 5L tub £5 instore Tesco
LocalLocalFound 7th JunFound 7th Jun
Perfect spot for me as painting the fencing this weekend - they have all the colours too all £5 each Seen in Seacroft Leeds Tesco

That is the harvest gold and I painted more than what you see in the picture and the whole thing took three tubs

Which colour is that, how far does one tub go ?

Excuse the patchy grey wall at the front. The first coat was painted on that last night as it is cladded with decking boards.

I have just finished using this on a lot of fencing and it has been brilliant to use. This is the first time I have painted a fence and I found it great to use. It has really brightened up the garden to the point where three of my neighbours want to paint their fencing the same colour.

I believe this is only £3.99 in Pound stretcher.

That is timbercare not fence life though

I paid £11 at B&Q for 12lt. I have just sprayed on 36lt with a cheap sprayer bought for a fiver and the job is spot in.

And £3.99 for 5lt at B and M

Yes you can spray it. I have purchased Ronseal sprayer from Screwfix for £19 and it does the job perfectly and very quickly.

thanks for this

Ronseal Decking Stain 2.5L £8.99 @ Home Bargains
Refreshed 15th MayRefreshed 15th May
Country Oak Colour RRP £24.99!

I agree with everyone here that Ronseal does not last! We spent hours and hours painting our garden in 2016 (we used the Ultimate Protection for the decking which is supposed to last twice as long but cost 3 times the price) and by early 2017 it was all flaking. I complained to Ronseal and got replacement products sent to me from them (which I sold as I won't use Ronseal again) The bits we did in Cuprinol still look amazing so it's Cuprinol all the way for me

Does the job, but definitely doesn't last too long. Maybe good for the spring/summer months

Last year they had different colours but all I seem to find is country oak. And noticed 2 different colours of country oak on the tins

Can the decking be stained then oiled? I have a fresh stain on and would like the extra protection an oil gives

I think they have improved it, or there is a better version, as I bought some recently that says "ultimate protection" - I wonder if this is why this is so much cheaper? I know only time will tell, but have had some rain since doing it and went for slate grey, did two coats and look like penetrated in to the wood well, as in stained (as it says on the tin), rather than just paint the surface. Checked my tin and it says it contains linseed oil.

We are also stuck with this, looks great after painting but it only lasts the summer so a repaint required each year.

hah, i take it this means you? :p

If only people would lay decking boards the correct way with ridges underneath then sanding would be the answer. (excited)

what alternatives are there though? this isn't a stain or oil it has a specific purpose and thats to make crappy decking look good for a while

Yup (annoyingly) need to reapply every year. Stuck with it now though. No way I would be paying £40 a tin for it which is why £14 is a great price if u need it.

Home bargains in Ravensthorpe - 9 litre for £5.99

How does this compare to ducksback fence paint?

If you need two tubs, Wickes has their Easter weekend sale on and a deal for two 5L tubs for £10, mine worked out at £7.60 - plenty of stock

Nothing wrong if you want to apply yearly. But ever since I used my grandads method of adding yaught varnish or buying a varnish base in the first place you only repaint every 5 year if that. Much more waterproof too.

It is like with anything else these days. By the way, I was talking about using it to preserve wood, not for anything else.

Avoid. I painted a fence with it last year and it's already needing done again. Cuprinol all the way next time

You do know used engine oil is carcenogenic, don't you?

Keep slapping it on, you'll be replacing that timber in no time.

I bought this a few weeks ago from B&Q. It's good but it needs a few coats.

Top stuff Zinsser had oil on kitchen ceiling that kept coming through paint until we used Zinsser, top stuff

Third for Zinssner here, expensive but great stuff....

Not cheap but Zinsser BIN will do the trick and also be useful as a primer/sealer for other stuff too. If you just want a dedicated product then Zinsser Cover Stain is the one you want. Both widely available (Screwfix etc).

Your probably best to use an oil based paint to cover the stains, a couple of coats before applying emulsion should do the trick.

Just be careful hey don't inspect them with an ultra violet light or you might have more explaining to do, than them.

You can paint your fence anytime of the year and you can also complain any time of the year if you do it at the wrong time. Chemistry and physics are essentially constant within its laws - you can paint the fence in winter or summer and have problems or you can paint it in Spring/Autumn and have less problems due to the fact temperature makes a difference in viscosity and absorption along with several other factors. 12-13 degrees in near the lower limits, fine to do, better if it was around 20 degrees

I managed to get the fence done in January when it was around 12-13 degrees. Pressure-washed to get all the green off on day one and stained next day. I wouldn't however buy this watery Ronseal, it's really like coloured water. I use Johnstone's Woodworks Trade (around £10 for 5 Litres) which is much thicker, so does take longer to apply, but lasts much longer

I've had that in the past, Wednesbury B&Q is notorious for this, so are many Argos stores. It is essentially staff seeing it as a deal and cancelling the order so they/family member can buy it. Report it, I did this once with Argos before I stopped shopping their and got a £10 voucher.

ordered online and instore aswell

B&Q first accepted then cancelled my order. The email I received even stated I requested the cancellation! Cold from me

Thanks OP. Bought 25litres of dark oak for £7.50

I was in the Northallerton store today and got the lady to check a few things these were down from £2.99 to £1.50 but only had loads of Red Cedar, couple of Forest Green and Medium Oak. Up the stairs at the back of the store, my advice if your going to buy a few is get a trolley and use the customer lift in the far left corner of the store at the back.

I have used this on brand new fence panels and to repaint old panels. Three years on and the new panels still look as good as the day they were painted but the old panels have had a few flaking issues.

There are some really unhelpful comments here: this product is certainly not rubbish, it works quite well for fences and sheds, but they will need re-painting every 2-3 years. It is nowhere near as good as finishes such as Sikkens - but it on sale for £1.50/gallon, so it is a bargain for a perfectly good low-end wood finish. I'll but some if it in stock at our local B&M and have voted hot.
