I tend to play these types of games on PC , the controller support for Divinity enhanced and for Divinity 2 are excellent and rarely do I touch the keyboard when playing either of them , bag space seems unlimited for these 2 games though which is nice too , but , loot management can be a pain for sure , I even tend to hoard my upgrade points until I need to use them.

I purchased Grim Dawn yesterday via GOG Russia for around £1.70 ish , great game , excellent action RPG for sure.

WoW as sure was a classic , I have pondered going back from time to time , but a monthly sub does put me off , plus I imagine the game has not moved on massively in the past 6 years or so in terms of graphics and gameplay.

It's actually very limited tactically.
The elements of luck and frustration combined with the timed missions is what's putting me off this. I don't being rushed, especially not in a strategy game!

How much of a leap over the 'first' one is this?

I completed and adored both. More mission variety in terms of level design and countdown missions mean more aggressive tactics needed than hunkering on some missions. Took over my life when had it. Bargain price
I'm only a little way in to playing it and I'm really impressed so far. The Xcom series has to be one of my favourites right from the very original UFO enemy unknown.
How much of a leap over the 'first' one is this?
This is a great price, however the DLC adds so much to the game so if you can I'd buy the deluxe edition plus the expansion War of the Chosen and play it like that, that's what I did recently and it was worth every penny. For £38 I got nearly 90 hours out of it, and after finishing it and seeing what all the DLC added I would have regretted not getting it.
Tried to click hot with an 80% chance of registering but all 3 three attempts missed.

But it wouldn't be Xcom without it

I think its overrated and in terms of a strategy and tactical fix xenonauts blows it into the weeds.
However, its far Superior to its predecessor and actually really good fun. Well worth a tenner. Infact its worth a tenner just for the moment the most suprising alien turns up! (early in the game, it then gets silly with what feels like a random alien generator)

I came across no bugs and the timed missions are fun once your squad is up to scratch.
Plenty of mods available to turn off mission timers if they don't suit your gameplay style.
Easily worth ~£10.

Is this any good? I heard the timer thing makes it all a bit stressful to …Is this any good? I heard the timer thing makes it all a bit stressful to play.

Do you mean the timer in a mission?

It's not that bad, I'm pretty sure if you have to complete an objective in a certain amount of turns, you start the mission concealed, so you just have to get as close to the objective as possible and ambusing the enemy before being spotted.

If you mean the dark events timer that is the plot of the whole game. I agree it makes the game really hard.

I'm on my 3rd playthourgh . 1st I played on rookie, as I hadn't played a xcom game before. 2nd time on commander I got a game over because of the dark event I ran out of time. So now I'm on the 3rd play on commander, and basically you can't skip any missions, and you have to try to get excellent/flawless missions, cause you don't want your soldiers out of action for too long.

I can go on and on about this lol, its fun tho, and I'm on PS4 and don't have the fancy mods to make it easier either.

Worth getting definitely. I agree it's a tad expensive for an add on. It does add a lot of content but I don't think it warrants nearly the cost of a whole game. They have sorted a lot of loading issues etc that plagued the main game. You won't believe how quick it loads compared to vanilla. Also one of my favourite games so I shelled out at launch.

I found it quite a bit easier mid game and late game, so probably worth knocking it up a notch difficulty wise if you are experienced with the game. I'm just about to complete the avatar autopsy and am completing most missions flawlessly on veteran.

The chosen are a decent twist but again quite easy to defeat on veteran. Advise going after them ASAP as they can be a pain on some missions, turning up at the worst times ^^

To summarise - deffo worth a punt if you like the original, different enough to keep you rooted for a full campaign again. Increase difficulty for best results.
thought it seemed expensive for an addon but it's one of my favourite games so bit the bullet. it really is the glue that completes the whole assembly, adds far more personal stories both to the plot and more importantly to the events your little team go through thanks to the addition of bonds and the amazing poster mode (words can't describe how cool this is after a tense battle). does make the strategic layer a lot busier too, rather than just choosing to do a side mission, slow down the avatar project or advance the plot you have half a dozen things demanding your time all while the clock is ticking.

added to the great custom campaigns (slow avatar, turn other DLC on/off or plenty of other tweaks) and hundreds of mods (90% of which are to add anime/game character looks and voiceovers) it's one hell of a package, i can easily see me doubling my 100+ hours played thanks to this addon

Maybe it was the build I played but it most definitely didn't run like butter (or indeed as good as Quake Champions) on my current setup with an 8gb gtx1070 which isn't a slouch and plays most other modern games without breaking sweat. Not nonsense, fact.

I'll try it again in a few months as I said earlier as there may have been problems with compatibility with my card or something as the visuals certainly did not justify the framerate I was experiencing.

Unfortunately I cannot recommend this, I was very exciting about playing …Unfortunately I cannot recommend this, I was very exciting about playing this... until I did.. feels more like a badly done fan fiction than the real thing.... Finding populated servers is also troublesome, which is worrying for its future longevity!Plus it runs like on my set up, while I do not have the most powerful hardware (an 8gb gtx1070, i5 6400, 16gb RAM) it chews through most games with a decent frame rate, including Quake Champions ...but this game really really struggles to keep a steady let alone high frame rate for some reason! Worth trying though cause that could just be me

Puts Quake to shame (actually, Quake is still good but clearly second best compared to UT!)

It sure is - not often DLC is released at the same price as the base game. But, yes, it does add a lot and, going by previews/reviews, it's well worth it. I'm just holding out for some sort of complete edition because I haven't got any of the other DLC and I'm hoping there's going to be a more cost effective way of buying everything, but I'm not sure I can hold out for long...
