Update 1
Update 12/7: Added more devices

As we have had a shed load of Amazon devices shared on site this past week, I thought I'd do a deal to clump them all together in to one Megathread, I personally enjoy doing these things (sad I know) But this gives you something to refer back to if thinking of buying an Amazon device, this will be updated until prime day ends with some of the best offers posted

Do not ever buy blink cameras. Actually a scam. You have to pay their monthly subscription if you want to view the camera feeds for longer than 6 seconds
    welling1's avatar
This is not correct. See this..... as shows, USB with Sync module means through motion detection can save videos to USB FOREVER!
  2. lcm123's avatar
There is also an Echo Show 5 deal, but two for £89ish. Was really hoping for a deal on a single echo show 5, and without a doorbell or camera package.
    Scenicblur's avatar
Luckily I got my Echo Show 5 cheap (£25), as part of a Ring bundle deal.
After owning it for a few years, I can safely say I'd never buy another one.
The UI is incredibly irritating, and every update adds more useless dross, which is enabled by default.
As of today, there are 26 annoying 'features' on my home screen list.
(Thankfully, you can turn them all off - but the system still keeps trying to push visual junk at you).

I'd recommend people pay a little more and get the 4K max fire stick if they can. We have both the 4K and max in our house and the extra speed of the max is noticeable.
    greenant's avatar
    Agreed 100%.
  4. Shuggy7's avatar
Are we expecting anything on the fire stick 4k? Surprised nothing has started now they normally flood it with fire sticks (edited)
    shahg's avatar
I recall in previous years that they have reduced Fire Stick prices a little later..

    Waiting on paperwhite kindles
    Mindwipe's avatar
The kids Paperwhite is the same device with a free cover. You just have to delete the kids profile when it arrives.
  6. scottishgamer's avatar
Maybe I'm being daft but what can a firestick do that my tv can't do with the built in apps and stuff?
    TeslaSat's avatar
If you travel much they're amazing. You log into all your apps via the fire stick then simply plug it into your hotel TV and, boom, just like being at home!
  7. gmoore's avatar
Does anyone know, for blink…I have the original xr cameras and module and later added 1 indoor camera, I don’t pay a subscription as I have had them a good while. If I add other devices such as the doorbell, will it stay free or are they gonna try to force me onto a subscription for Cloud storage? Thanks (edited)
    MN8's avatar
I added a doorbell and then upgraded my cameras to the latest versions and it remained free for me so you should be ok

Bought blink door bell + blink sync box
    Problem / issues
    1) The device "camera " is plastic cover "not metal" and clips in to the blink frame on the door The problem is that if you pull harder to check if the door bell secure etc With little force you can easy take this device apart i mean I can see camera PCB and cover separating as the clips is on PCB not on the cover it self . The problem is that door bell it self very unsecure kids can easily break apart and there is no recording from movement Yes it will record door bell push time vide but not like CCTV camera
2 ) The sync box Works ? at the moment it is 30 days trial so can not check how it is recording with sync box alone
    3) The are very big delay and it is noticeable maybe 10-20 sec before all video comes on the phone and you can talk with person
Say delivery person press door bell Then it is take time notification come to phone maybe 3-5 sec
Then open app and connect video another 10 sec Then you need manually push voice button on app to talk
Delivery person will not have time 20 sec he will be gone by this time
    4) there is no speaker for door bell ringtone Yes amazon speaker works cannot complain but then if Alexa speaker is off so you door bell ringtone is off nobody in the house will know except app installed on my phone

Still deciding to keep or just get good quality door bell
as now do not know if doorbell is secure from water as when i checked if it is secure i saw PCB with seal moving in the cover so if the seal come back to it is position unknown
Plus all this unit powered by 2 x AA batteries so I do not aspect that 2x AA batteries can record video 24 Hours as CCTV camera

Cheap price but cheap peron buy 2 x times and in the end pays more then smart person at begining
    Skillfulperson's avatar
This echos TechMoan's review of the Ring when it comes out. Avoided smart door bells ever since. I find it hard to believe it has any practical benefit

Like everyone else, I can see a lot of work has gone into compiling this MEGATHREAD. Thank you OP.
  10. john.coote's avatar
Can you change the ring tone on the doorbell as I hear them all
The time up and down my road and they’re all the same?
    65_akdeano's avatar
When the ringdoorbell goes I've got my phone notification to play "there's somebody at the door" song from rod hull and emu.. ( I'm old so a classic from my youth 😁)
  11. bluetang's avatar
Same ole same ole on Prime.

A decent money off coupon would be better. So you can choose other items.
    westy125's avatar
Yup, plus when you use the camel website most things ain't deals,
  12. TwotoYou's avatar
Not bought much from Amazon for a long time. Been bitten by fake goods too many times. Pretty shady these days.
    Robiesanta's avatar
I now only buy Amazon stuff through Amazon. I never buy perfume/aftershave if it. Have had duplicates.
  13. Willy_Wonka's avatar
What an odd time to do an Amazon devices thread with a Prime sale in a couple of days time.
    hukdbarney's avatar
Amazon device deals always go live several days prior, this has always been the case…
  14. shep4612's avatar
I'm looking to update my firestick from a 1st gen version. Can't decide between the 4k max and a fire cube. Does anyone have both and would be able to advise if it is worth it in your opinion?
    Gorskar's avatar
A fire cube is more or less equivalent to a fireTv stick Max + an echo dot.

    FireTv stick Max: £37.99
    Echo dot : £21.99
    Total: £59.98

    Fire Tv cube: £109.99

I believe the cube has a better processor than the max stick, but TBH I'm not sure I'd pay an extra £50 just for that...

    Echo show 8 gen2 or echo show 5 gen3

    Pros/cons

Can not see much difference other than price and size

    ??????????? (edited)
    adamtattonreid's avatar
You got it, just a size difference really.
We have both - 5s in bedrooms and an 8 in the living room.
The sound is better from the 8, meatier and deeper bass - but the 5s do kick out a decent sound of you aren't an audiophile needing loud music from them.
  17. Ammar_Hassan's avatar
What’s the difference between kindle and fire HD tablet?
    cookied's avatar
Kindle is a reading device & a fire tablet is like an android PC..

Thank you for taking the time to set this up.

I've recebought ny forever home and doing some upgrades and making it as efficient and "smart" as possible. Futire-proofing.
Looking for a Fire Tablet 8 plus, or possibly 10 plus. I've found a really cheap wireless charging dock for the 8 plus, and going to have a control panel Jome Assistant.
    holmesgroove's avatar
    Bought the Ring deal Thursday.

I'm a prime member but not expecting anything mind-blowing from Amazon this prime day. Don't think I bought a thing last year either. Genuine bargains are rare & it's mostly them offloading old stock.
  22. kamtheman's avatar
I was looking for a Show 8, but not a 1st Gen and certainly not when it's been available for £55 for most of the time since April but just before Prime Day they whack it up to £100. As can be seen here:

    50537143-EzZGo.jpg
Back in my retail days it had to be offered for 28 consecutive days to show a saving....I'm a bit rusty on retail law but really not sure this is legal...anyway, don't get suckered into these 'savings'.
    Alan_BriggsfYv's avatar
Not sure where you are looking.

    amazon.co.uk/ama…h=1

Above link showing it as £49.99?
  23. rushofoxygen's avatar
I say stay away from most amazon products, there are better alternatives
    Daray's avatar
The whole Amazon is like American version of Aliexpress with inflated prices.
  24. Eggface5's avatar
Hoping for a deal on the FULL echo (not dot). Seems to be full price at moment
    MDL199's avatar
I upgraded from the full sized echo 2 to the latest version which is 4. Personally I think the new one sounds a lot worse and the bass is totally overbearing on it
  25. Mr_Mister's avatar
I'm looking for Ring or Blink doorbell for my Elderly parents.
    Any recommendations?
Shall I go for deals with a Echo Show package?
    jjnjgr12's avatar
Hi if you buy ring you will have to pay for cloud storage.if you get blink with sync module and memory stick you have storage no subscription to pay.i have had ring now have blink no difference in quality.i would go with blink and avoid costly yearly subscription
  26. soapyd's avatar
It's like a sale for stuff private companies can spy on you with

My girlfriend insisted that the fact that I say ‘shut up’ to Google Assistant showed that I have an underlying psychopathy. A few days later she got into a slamming match with the thing, as the louder she shouted and swore at it, the more it responded with irrelevant statements.
  28. doppo666's avatar
May as well hold off for prime day in a few days time
  29. Rona7do's avatar
What Firestick is the one to buy? Got an old laggy one that needs replacing, guessing they will drop in price.
    greenant's avatar
The 4K Max has more RAM. Just get that one. It’s already a couple of years old so I wouldn’t bother buying even older devices. The 4K Max is hardly expensive (when it’s on sale).
  30. Jason_Prew's avatar
Wow.. just looked at a video on YouTube from ETA prime.. re Amazon prime deals. $99 for a 43" fire tv, and on the uk £429.99
And firetv max $24.99 and in the UK £37.99.. all of a sudden the deals don't look so good!

    DanielJB's avatar
$99 was an invite only deal from what I can tell reading the comments on that
  31. morty's avatar
Nothing special same as always yet people vote it hot

They raise prices then reduce claiming special deals.
    brendanhickey's avatar
Yea just look at the prime day vodka, £19,95 for 1 litre which is standard sale price, yet claiming to be reduced from £28 . All the price are just typical sale prices.
  32. Agent_Ag-47's avatar
Good work - get tempted, then persuade myself to wait until the Prime Sale - although I could order, then re-order if comes up cheaper. Fire TV look good value

It's been offered cheaper before. £190 is it's historical low back in November. £220 back in March. I reckon they'll repeat the £220 price.
