thats because it was yesterdays special value so has ended but for me its still showing

I dont see an easy pay option payment for this? (not buying, just being nosey)

Lol, fair enough, and yes, I agree.

keep your shirt on m8 I didnt see that when you originally posted it

I was interested in dual boots too. I have purchased both Chuwi and Teclast dual boot tablets in the past (Chuwi Hi12 and Teclast X98 Pro) they were ok but I certainly cannot recommend a Teclast and Chuwi Chinese tablet to folk who are not at least a bit tech savvy. Both of mine were bug ridden (e.g. microsd slot suddenly stopped working, rapid battery drain on standby, poor wifi reception etc) no prospect of official fixes or android updates. The quality control just isn't there for the lesser known Chinese brands. You can pay more to purchase from a UK seller off eBay etc but buy from China and they come with no meaningful guarantee or support. The hardware specs are excellent for the money (e.g. the screen in my Chuwi Hi12 is the same as used in the early Microsoft Surface Pro's) but unless you have at least some tech knowledge and are interested in researching fixes and workarounds, then I advise treating them with caution. With dual boots, most folk end up using either android or windows virtually all the time. Windows 10 is not very good on touch screen tablets IMO due to problems with scaling and lack of decent tablet apps.

You made the right call. Kindles are so much nicer on the eyes when it comes to reading books!

My original comment was that a 7 16gb was 'around this price' - if the 8gb was £30, the 16gb would have been £40-£45, so I was about right. The 8 HD at £50 would have been the 16gb, this is a 32gb, so is that the matter closed? (y)

fire 7 was £30 fire 8hd was £50 fire 10 £110

Thank you! I think this is the best option :)

Thank you for the advice! I read actual paper books so I'm not sure about what's best technology wise! Very much appreciated :)

I picked up an Amazon warehouse refurb (not kids version) a few months ago when they had a 20% off warehouse deal on for about £35 with 1 year warranty. The official Amazon bumper cases were on sale at about £2.50-£5 each at the time too - really happy with it, big improvement on the fire s which are starting to become unusable now (8gb) I wouldn't be surprised if a similar deal pops up around back Friday if you're not bothered about the 2 year warranty or Amazon kids access.

Thx op

I got one of these. Great kids features however it's a very slow laggy tablet

This is actually a very good price for the 32GB kids Fire HD 8. :-) I paid only £10 less than this for the normal 32GB Fire HD 8, last Year Black Friday/Cyber Monday Weekend ... And even that was an excellent Deal at the time, as soon after shot right up to nearer the £100 again, thereafter, lol. (And that was the normal Fire HD 8, the kid's equivalent of the same is usually/always notably more expensive then all that regardless - so a very good price for this indeed). :-)

Thanks for the post .

I bought one sold as 'without special offers' it arrived 'with special offers'. How anyone can put up with that crap I do not know. I had book adverts - fair enough, I'm not into the Bronte Sisters but whatever - but I also had loaaaaaaaads of ads for gambling sites. Every time I put the system on sleepmode/standby. It greeted me when I closed it and when I opened it. 10 mins on Amazon chat rectified it but it was horrible while it lasted #firstworldproblems

Are these still locked down with loads of Amazon advertising pumped regularly to you? My father had one bought for him and I thought it was no more than an Amazon shopfront, using it as a tablet seemed to get in the way of Amazon's advertising! Any views?

I voted hot, even though it's a bad deal. Cos I wub yew.

Thanks all my boo boo (horror)

As above, it's been this price for ages. We got the newer one from Amazon warehouse in as new condition for similar money.

You can easily add google play store to these

Yea it's a shame Amazon and Google can't just get along and give us the best of both words.

cheers I feared you'd say that. I kinda liked the kid profile section and I subscribed to the Amazon Prime Kids Unlimited thing. Never mind, they prefer Youtube anyway so I think i'll do as you do :)

Yea because an Adult profile basically acts as an Administrator profile so you can change settings etc. Make an adult profile then go about installing G Apps, you can always limit what they can do on the profile anyway eg payments and then limit what they can watch in the YouTube kids app itself.

Apparently not according to reviews but don't see how this would have changed from the older version as it appears to be the same spec.

is the battery life still as garbage?

Front facing cameras are actually quite fun for kids as they like taking pics of themselves but as you said I doubt most kids or adults would notice any difference. Not sure how much the 50% more cores in the graphics unit improves anything.

All things that the average kid needs! I’m pretty sure my 2 year old will cope without the extra 144gb expandable and the front camera 😜

Yep, you bought the previous version for 100. This is the 2018 version releasing in October. This is practically the same but has Hands free Alexa, Front facing camera, better GPU, upto 400gb expandable storage and show mode. Other than that they are identical.

My Hudl2 is over 3 years old, looking for a replacement as its too slow and frequently crashes.

This post is about the new 8" Fire but bundled with the dock. Main Specs; - 8” high-definition touchscreen; 1280 x 800 resolution at 189 ppi, - Quad-Core: 1.3 GHz, with 1.5 GB of RAM Which I just think is below par. I got the 2015 Fire 7 when it came out and that was just about adequate but it was very cheap.

I don't use it much as it's my daughter's. She finds it great for watching video and YouTube on though. I find the Hudl2 a pretty much perfect size too (mainly used on the commute to work so has to be baggable!) Haven't found anything else much that compares, they are either too cheap and under powered or just too expensive (Samsung). Am getting tempted by the 8" Fire though. Think there is an updated version due in October?

Its a shame the tablet market isn't as hot as it once was as that led to the hudl2 being made. How do you find the 10" fire HD size wise as I think the hudl2 is the right size for me and I'm not sure I want to go any bigger. Amazon make their devices to sell their services so as long as the spec runs their apps then they are happy. Also I wonder if they deliberately keep the spec low (mainly RAM) to stop them being really popular for hacking and installing real android.

I'm in exactly the same boat, my Hudl2 is still going and does a great job. The battery can be a little temperamental at times so I am starting to look out for a suitable replacement, but whatever I get next will have a hard act to follow. My daughter has the 10" fire HD but they seem to have removed the in built VPN function so I am unable to use it to remote in to my work pc using VPN connection and MS Remote Desktop app!

Do you think this tablet would be good for only making Skype or imo video calls? I mean is the screen brightness and picture quality good enough.

I have a 16GB one, I paid 50 odd quid for it on some deal or other. The screen is fine, not fabulous but better than my Lenovo 8" tablet. It plays Netflix HD and Amazon HD which is what I got it for. Is there another tablet anywhere near the price of these Fire tablets that does that? I'd be very interested if someone could recommend one. It has an ad on the lock screen - Oh the horror! Big deal. Downside for me is that Amazon have chosen to cripple its casting abilities. This is more of a slight irritation than anything though as I don't really need the facility.

Something I wasn't aware of which surprised me since it's billed as a media device is that you can't cast Netflix or prime video to your TV. I received one yesterday at the price shown and I'm currently deciding whether to return it or not.

Better paying the extra for the HD10 the screen on this is awful.

Cheap, but laggy. I had one but gave up on it.

It's not quick, but we use it for Amazon video, Netflix and Google Movies. It's perfect for just those, but yes, space fills fast if you download. My advice is wait for a refurb - we got one for £26 from Amazon themselves and it may as well have been brand new.

Seems to be the only thing my kids play on theirs. No idea if it’s good or not though.... they stopped speaking to me years ago.

It's not that slow. I have one and it's absolutely fine for browsing the net and YouTube etc. You can sideload the Google app store easily.

That's a bugger. Did yours come with a 2 year warranty?

It developed a problem with the screen. A white box appeared which doesn’t disappear. I did a search on google and apparently it’s quite common 😞

They're restricted to Amazon's fire OS but with a little work you can easily get the play store installed making it an even better tablet.

They perform better - the best specification of the current Kindle Fire range.

That’s all my daughter uses to is YouTube kids. But from what I’ve read it seems straight forward enough to install the google play store on it then you can install the YouTube app from that.

I bought this for my daughter a few months before she turned 4. She hardly used the kids content. Just wanted to watch youtube all the time which there is no app for. Its not a good product imo as its too small and fire os is poor. Might be good for older kids but I wish I had never bought it

What’s people think of the hd8? I’m thinking of getting my toddler it. Ive read the 7 is very slow and she uses my iPad at the moment. Patience is not a strong point on a 3 year old.

Can I load my own videos and switch WiFi off.

I bought one for my Daughter and it only lasted 15 months. Really disappointing. A white box appeared on the screen which according to a Google, is a common fault with these. I spoke with Amazon, who didn’t want to know. I do not recommend getting a Kindle. I bought a Samsung tablet 7 years ago and it’s still working.

Why the negativity? I’ve given up posting deals. It’s a great deal.

Tablet market is stagnant. What are the options now for a decent tablet, iPad or Tab S? or do you invest in a Surface?

Surprised by all the heat. The Fire 7 is naff and the bundle is not a particularly good price given the dot and the tablet can be had at 30 quid each regularly and SD cards from quality brands are available around 10.

I have the 10 and for what it is and the price, the performance is above par. The 7 however isn't capable, at all. As others have said, this will only be good for those who don't mind waiting / don't know the difference. A good use case would be someone with a sub £50 Android phone as the performance will be similar.

As mentioned above, the tablet is slow. Very slow. I have the 10 inch version and it crawls on even the simplest task. Just opening a book in the e-reader takes about 15 seconds and surfing the web is so frustrating as to not be worth the effort. If it hadn't been a present, I'd have sent it straight back.

Removing ads doesn't seem to be possible with a 'hack' - as I understand it you speak to Amazon customer services on online chat and say the tablet is for a child and you aren't happy about the content of the adverts you are getting (gambling sites or apps, adult themed books, games with extortionate iaps etc) and 9 times out of 10 the customer services will disable the adverts remotely for you.
