Typical childish retorts. Haha mug!

someshpan

Cold. You keep getting the amazon kids HD version cheaper than this.

MrSprkle

Nothing that still exists, were talking about 2 tablets here which are generally designed to be used by one person at a time, its not like its 2 PS4's, When I was a kid I had a Blue Raleigh and my Sister had a Pink bike with a white basket, gender stereotypes eh.. but we didnt have to share bikes.

While posting the deal, I posted the correct timings based on the countdown. However the mods changed it.

amour3k

Hehehehehe, fair enough. :-D

joydasieee

Why is it expired? It's still available. Only 26 mins to go though

Mike_HUKD

Think I pretty directly explained the difference to be fair XD The tablet is the same, kids one had the case which adds to the cost.

amour3k

Fair enough. The kid's version, and non-kid's version, alwayyyys have a certain 'price difference' to them?. For pretty much the reasons as to what you indirectly explained already above ... (Amongst 'other things', refurb, as opposed to new, etc?).

Why the negativity? I’ve given up posting deals. It’s a great deal.

MrSprkle

Tablet market is stagnant. What are the options now for a decent tablet, iPad or Tab S? or do you invest in a Surface?

Mike_HUKD

Surprised by all the heat. The Fire 7 is naff and the bundle is not a particularly good price given the dot and the tablet can be had at 30 quid each regularly and SD cards from quality brands are available around 10.

Carson_Official

I have the 10 and for what it is and the price, the performance is above par. The 7 however isn't capable, at all. As others have said, this will only be good for those who don't mind waiting / don't know the difference. A good use case would be someone with a sub £50 Android phone as the performance will be similar.

notsram

As mentioned above, the tablet is slow. Very slow. I have the 10 inch version and it crawls on even the simplest task. Just opening a book in the e-reader takes about 15 seconds and surfing the web is so frustrating as to not be worth the effort. If it hadn't been a present, I'd have sent it straight back.

Screen cracked on all 3 of them. They were only dropped from toddler height and the screen cracked straight away. One of them cracked so bad glass was falling out

Regprentice

Removing ads doesn't seem to be possible with a 'hack' - as I understand it you speak to Amazon customer services on online chat and say the tablet is for a child and you aren't happy about the content of the adverts you are getting (gambling sites or apps, adult themed books, games with extortionate iaps etc) and 9 times out of 10 the customer services will disable the adverts remotely for you.

After some searching on the Internet I sorted it myself using the LauncherHijack apk. I've now just noticed the previous post to yours by krazykush has also sussed it as well. It seems its much more difficult to install 3rd party widgets to the home screens though (fierce)

Torkijo

Sorry, just put up with the Amazon one and haven't tried others

krazykush

Arrived yesterday - condition is mint!! literally looks brand new. It is the 6th Gen (2016 model). Did not have any ads (Special Offers) or anything on the lock screen which is great! Installed Play store with ease, and Nova Launcher. You need to install LauncherHijack apk to force Nova Launcher. Did all the updates but Alexa only works by holding down the home button. It seems like the new Alexa version of this tablet allows it to listen for the word Alexa to activate it without having to touch anything. Is this the same behaviour others have? Or has anyone managed to get it to wake to Alexa command?

tuckeral

Thanks for that. Really clear instructions and successful for me.

Would anyone know... If I already have one 7" Fire and if I got another, can they be syncronised to play the same video? For in car use, back of headrest. So the kids are watching the same thing on each tablet.

Fire HD 8 Kids £89.99 on Amazon Prime You can also do the below. Get £10 free with £80 Amazon Gift Card Purchase https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/get-10-free-with-80-amazon-gift-card-purchase-2985869 My kid has Fire 7 2015 (8GB) and i had 16GB memory card where i set to all apps to install on it. and the tablet was always full. you have to remember if you have a app that want to be installed it need to have this space free on the tablet it self to be able to install it on the memory card (it seems to be at this point if it fails it keep the files on the tablet and no way to remove them. only way i found was to wipe the tablet and start again) but the above is 16GB so cant see it being an issue. but for a extra £20-30 for 2x more memory. i did read the size of the 7 is better for kids eyes. (due to the size) but that was something i read a wile back.

admars

we've got the 8, and the kids are happy with that, i think i read at the time it's worth paying more for the 8, but if that's not on offer than not really an option :)

For anyone worried about the limited spec of this tablet and is considering the Echo Show... This (while plugged in) has most of the functionality of the Echo Show and can be used as a basic tablet too (y) The speaker is a little weak so you might want to run it through a something else (wired/Bluetooth) for music. I opted for the 8" version due to the weak STUDENT15 code requirements (highfive) but was about to buy this, solely to use as a digital assistant.

Even new, I think these can be had for not much more than the refurbished price too?. If the difference in price was sizable, then fine, but where there's very little in it, then, let's just say, new would be therefore better ...

Hopefully the new model will be on offer today (Prime day) as this is the 2015 model I think without Alexa and has the slower processor.

Worth waiting til midday to see what these are on prime at? Personally I'm looking for a 8 or ten inch tablet for my son...his 6 year old Samsung galaxy Tab 2 is really struggling now...but I' probably looking at an 8 instead of a 10 inch. The eights are 45 quid under this offer.

Yeah I know. Usually the tempered glass screen protection is enough, but my daughter has managed to smash phone screens even with big old Griffin survivor cases on them. She should product test for Tonka that one!

CartoonHead78

Screen protector doesn't mean unbreakable. Pressure, dropping and hard objects will still damage the screen.

neekaphillips

Our kids have the normal ones but we have at least one with a smashed screen even though it was protected :/ I literally don't have any kind of computer knowledge really at all but even I managed to get Google play quite easily on the kindle fire. Which is ace as we have not had to 're buy the apps the kids use the most :)

admars

i bought these when they were on similar offer before, my kids are v happy with them, loads of free games, books tv shows etc to kep them busy

Personally don’t like Amazon Fire tablets as from last experience you need: 1) Amazon prime account to get advantage of full service (with amazon account you need to have payment card) 2) apps limited to Amazon selected apps only Edited: added "with amazon account you need to have payment card"

these smaller fire 7s break at the drop of a hat now, I have 4 of them with the digitizer screen broken (all starting in the same place) my 8Hd that's about 5 years old is still going strong though. Amazon wont replace the broken ones they offer 15% off of a new one.

iceburnmarko

gozer think cause often like prime day it be £29

Gozer

Why the cold votes? It's £40 for a decent enough tablet.

nobbyogden

This was last week. You need to wait until Amazon reduce the 'new' price to 119 because then they reduce the refurbs as well. May be another couple of months now though.

Winterwolf

Depends on what apps your using. If you using the standard services....catchup, Netflix, Plex, IPTV then firestick runs sweet as a nut. Buffering would suggest a ***** setup on your side. My old firestick only buffered when trying to run VPN & IPTV at the same time, and that was down to the CPU/Mem only. Didnt matter if I had it connected through Ethernet or Wifi. I would assume the firetv could handle this fine with better cpu and mem.

ToxtethOGrady

More expensive things are better? Mind blown!

benjaminiunharpit

No one cares what you'd do Sam

sam_of_london

Fire stick is underpowered to run decent TV. Buffering crap with less memory and powerful CPU . Won't buy even if free. But if you got Xbox or Nvidia shield , no need to buy this either.

As these things have Alexa built-in, it seems silly that people are complaining about the hardware short-comings... It does everything that the Echo Dot does (while plugged in) plus you can use it as a budget tablet. In fact, if you get a standing case for it and you disable screen-off, it nearly becomes an Echo Show and would suit kitchen / bedroom use very well.
