It's not a IV it's a IX half cropped by the chronograph. What worries me more is that everything on this watch is silver. I already struggle to read the time on the image, I can't imagine how it's like on a sunny day.

Nice watch for the cash, and probably still decent value at the price they're at in this deal. The proper bargains are on their eBay store though 😁

Would you rather not have a tag heuer carrera on sale? Or a BREITLING?

It's a design point. The type font has to stay the same size. The Chrono dial is in front. It is deliberate and a common design approach... Hence X looks like like a v

I don't like this watch. Rose gold marine star is way better (got one) and the lunar watch

I suppose it was designed for the moon, which isn't the best place to go for a swim. I like it though, and it's a perfect size for me with a 45mm case. Tempted, but I really can't afford it at the moment. Heat though OP

I really like this design and decided to order two from the Argos Outlet.
Unfortunately, both the watches were anything but new with tags, they were both marked 'opened and inspected' one had no seal on the back, the other had a seal but was marked exp. 03/17 (presumably for the battery) and was scratched on the back cover. Neither had tags.
The chronograph reset button on one of the watches didn't work either.
Pretty poor all round, tbh.
Returned them both.

£70 to replace a battery and seal not sure where your going but a battery …£70 to replace a battery and seal not sure where your going but a battery and seal change for my Omega Seamaster with a pressure test is only £35 from a qualified Horologist and you can go cheaper if you choose somewhere like Timpsons. And btw the ebay post says 'Water Resistance Rating:Not Water Resistant' on the item specifics - Ha Ha

Hi @mann242,

I've been quoted about £70 from high street shops, who - if they know what they're doing - will send the watch away to get the re-seal and testing done properly. Please note that I said in my original comment "you might be looking at £70+". Like you, I know a few local boutiques who can handle most of my watch service needs, but others might just pop in somewhere at lunchtime and receive an unpleasant shock!

I'm only trying to highlight two things: (1) Bulova high-accuracy quartz movements munch through batteries, unlike your Casio F91-Ws, etc., and (2) getting those dead batteries changed properly costs more than you might expect. Ernest Jones and others will probably quote you £70 or more (most of the cost of a new watch!).

Hopefully this is useful information for non-enthusiasts thinking of this watch as a present for themselves or others. Again, I'm not saying don't buy it - just be aware. I returned a Lobster and a Snorkel for exactly the same reason - changing batteries on Bulova's dive watches is an expensive and unwelcome faff (especially since nobody is really going to dive to 300m anyway, so you're creating an unnecessary headache in the first place!).

Cheers.

For anyone considering this watch, I hope it helps to know that the Bulova …For anyone considering this watch, I hope it helps to know that the Bulova high-accuracy quartz watches tend to run through batteries pretty quickly (they quote 2 or sometimes 3 years in the watch manuals).Due to the 300m water resistance, changing the battery can be more expensive than you expect (due to properly re-sealing the case and pressure testing). If you care about the longer-term ownership of the watch, you might be looking at £70+ for it to be done properly. Your average high street Ernest Jones won't (or can't, or shouldn't) do the job.I'm not saying don't buy the watch, just that lifetime ownership costs can really add up (and, unlike an automatic which starts keeping time poorly, once a battery is dead it is dead, and should be changed or removed ASAP to avoid leaking).Hope this helps.

Perhaps you have a kids watch. Carry on.

And yours would be a really adult watch, I suppose. Now we're getting to it ... you're itching to tell us all...so you can harvest that prestige.

I work with a lot of people who are company owners and millionaires. I'm not. And there's one thing I've learned is that there are always people with better stuff. For them, a £20k Rolex is nothing. Patek Phillipe and other boutique Swiss or German brands are their entry point. But without exception, none of those people feel compelled to brag about it.

Chatting freely about your collection is fine and framed correctly I'd be genuinely interested in what you have as I have a love of all watches.

My favourite watches are not my most expensive, or even best looking.

This was only the second watches I have bought in the last two decades. The previous purchase was a vibrating digital watch. I am pleased though that I did. The time-piece is beautiful. The strap is also classy. Unfortunately, the strap and the time-piece do not look right together. I am not sure what I will do about this long-term, this is though not one of life's big problems.

Luckily this watch seems to go well with just about any type of strap. I have mine on a steel mesh one at the moment and quite like it.

Sure it isn't the best, but it is safe enough to know you won't easily damage the watch. You can do it with a pin and a hammer, but one slip and you have a nasty gash in your bracelet. Also that video is the wrong one for this type of watch, this watch has a push pin design, so this video is how to resize *this* watch, also happens to be using the tool I posted earlier, and that is the only tool you need, no screwdriver or hammer etc.

Just sayin' cos lots of HUKDers have said the same about that small blue tool. Obviously it's not a lot of money wasted if you wish to give it a go, but I found it useless.

As for the watch adjustment video clip, I have a few bookmarked. I've edited the post and added a more appropriate video - obviously I posted the wrong one - oops (I tried to adjust my Caravelle myself, but with the £1.59 tool - as mentioned).

I've gone and bought one of these and on closer inspection it feels exactly like the 2 watches my son bought for around £10. The weight and feel of it is almost identical to the £7 watch with the bracelet. The movement, when you adjust the watch feels the same as both of them. I haven't tried opening the watch but I feel pretty confident in saying this, the movement in this watch is the same as in the £7 and £1.99 watches. If anyone has this watch, the tools, the know-how and the willingness to open it up, Please let us know what you find?

I would certainly bet that it's the same movement (like for like, or chrono for chrono). Looks like standard market price for this is about £100 and for that price you'd be lucky to get a Swiss quartz movement for example, like a Ronda.

Just send the watch back if you're not happy mate. Save your money, add say £20 a month to it, and get a decent watch when you're ready. In the meantime if you really need a watch, just get a cheap but decent Casio or a Seiko.

By the way, I have a bulova chrono dress watch and it's actually decent quality even if I don't ever wear it.

Bulova is a solid watch. I have an accutron2 made in Switzerland.

Accutron 2 watches are generally in the £200 region so I would expect better quality for that.

Bulova is owned by Citizen (which is good), so I suspect this will have similar quality to their cheaper offerings.

It does have SS case, which is good for this price, but will just have mineral glass crystal.
