im trying to return min, i even have the new hauwei 535 but it is so laggy i cant use skype or remote desktop download speed is good at 55mb and upload great at 30mb but the latency is just a no go for me shame, i really wanted to use it - i even got an external antenna, now useless.

I got the three homefi with unlimited data SIM 24 months £17 a month because I am a three customer it should have been £22 a month. I got a free PAYG sim registered with three and that's how I got £5 a month off

Mine ended up being thrown at a wall at work. I bought a decent mains powered router now and no issues at all now. These are shockingly bad.

Predikuesi

I've used one for several years without a problem.

Thanks for the follow up. Glad you benefited from my post!

Digitaleclipse

I’m upstairs and the router is downstairs. I haven’t tested on a laptop as I’m using on a PC but the signal is good. Better than what I was expecting. Well worth the money.

Rambolicks

That's decent. I'm hoping that decent WiFi 6 802.11ax come out soon. There's a huge difference using WiFi 6.

shoobirdy

The speeds I quoted were on my laptop sitting in my living room with my router being upstairs and 1 room across - not sure if that makes sense or not lol. It's probably 10m or so 'as the crow flies' but has to go through a wall and a ceiling. Not tried it further than that yet.

Rambolicks

Is the range any good?

Exactly my setup.....until one of the adapters goes kaput and then it's either a 20m Cat5 cable to the router....or this thing :)

buddn07

I bought this a while back, and have found the range really isn't great on it. Ended up buying powerlines and going through ethernet in the end.

smashed

Problem solved. I am already using Powerline cables to run 2 of my Hikvision Cameras as well as the underfloor heating, cat flap and Hive apps. Could just get a couple more but that will cost me over £20.

Turner855

I've found the same, I ended up getting a powerline adapter and a good old fashioned cable!

I have this works great for me on skys broadband

Meekin84

Haha, no worries! Everything you need for your ps4 for now is in that box, one plug goes into an electric wall socket near your router, there's a wire included to stick into the plug, the other end goes into your router. Then at your ps4, the other plug does the same near your ps4 connecting into it, once both are switched on, it should work. On PS4 go to network setting and switch to ethernet, all done. Ideally all lights on the plugs should be green, that shows they have a strong connection and best speeds can be achieved. For WiFi, your mate can eventually help you look for a wi-fi router, the wire from your ps4 would then come out of that and go into your wi-fi router. Another ethernet cable could then be plugged into your ps4 and to the new router, to help keep best speeds possible.

HUKDPAB1

I just wanted something I could plug into my room to boost WiFi, what I didn’t realise is that there are different ways/types of doing it. My IT mate is good with these things but half the IT lingo is foreign to me (lol) He has to have alotttt of patience!

Meekin84

No bother! They've been incredible for me, you can buy more at any time for further devices in other rooms too, should just be plug and play.

HUKDPAB1

Thanks mate I will have a look into it....

Pricklerickle

I don't have no dead spots, but signal can come and go upstairs, never had problem when in flat, can I use app for that, do their send power line plugs

jhw

This works better than a wifi extender - it sends the internet signal through the power line to the PA6 unit, that then rebroadcasts the wifi signal from that point. The second unit doesn't actually need to be in wifi range - before placing it you copy the router SSID setting to it by WPS.

CavanDuck

Worth saying, If you are with Virgin & have any dead spots that can be found using their Virgin connect app. Contact them on phone & they will deliver a WiFi extender for free.

sancheez

Yep. It's not this device, but the "Installation without WPS" instructions on here should be much the same with this ... http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/WNCE3001/WNCE3001_IG_20SEPT2011.pdf

sancheez

5/6 metres is a fair bit for one of these especially if there are walls in the way. With line of sight, that range should be OK. It's a cheap one remember, wifi range will be less than most routers, so it's all about finding the sweet spot. But within the same room? Not sure what went on there. Even one of the garbage ones (worse than this) with internal antenna should be fine within the same room! Sounds like it either didn't connect properly (can be a bit fiddly) or you got a dud one.

Have had the RBK43 3-pack for ~6 months now and can't recommend it highly enough - we get excellent coverage across the house and near 100% of the 200mbps bandwidth from our Virgin connection over the wireless network

wundaii

Very useful to know, thanks!

UKBFG

There's differences in wi-fi speed, back-haul bandwidth, USB Ports, Ethernet ports and internal memory between some of the different options, so it's worth having a good look at the details in the link above before deciding what option is best for you, And considering the "handover" between satellite units can be problematic sometimes, i'd recommend going for a 2 pack of the bigger units instead of 3 of the smaller ones.

I'm sceptical as how well this is going to perform due to the size and the tiny antennae. Poor signal strength = lower speeds. That said, I have a nano TPLink Wifi dongle which is still in the unopened box and hasn't been tested yet!

Higher bands blocked, you don't wanna click the wrong button incase you launch a nuke or maybe just stop the gas man from reading the meter from outside.
