Salomon 4D2GTX Ladies £88 @ ActivInstinct

Activinstinct have the womens 4D2GTX on offer at £88 with a possible further unidays discount. There is a newer last of these, the 4D3 but my partner and I both have 4D2s and they … Read more

Although the boot is initially very good and is very comfortable the midsole disintegrates, the plastic bits between the sole and midsole warp and stick out and and then the sole loses stability. This does not last as long as similar hiking boots but for this price it is around 40% cheaper than other equivalent boots. If you want long lasting reliability choose another one of their models. The newer versions from Salomon don't have this problem as their midsole is constructed differently. It is not worth the RRP but at £88 is a decent deal.

Bit overkill for the kitchen?

You need to add delivery charge on to the price of these

Love these boots. Comfiest boots I have had. Used mine all over Scotland and wouldn't hesitate to buy another pair.

They have been this price for months. Paid £80 with a discount code 2 months ago . Nice boot but more for the serious trekker than little rambles....

Woman’s Saloman Gortex Gloves! I know Sports Direct normally have low quality products. But, being Saloman and Gortex you can’t go wrong!

Yeah, I tried to flag it as being in the wrong group, but not sure if report is the right button for that?

GTX is soo last season, all about RTX now

Probably does need reporting for being listed in the computers group though (wrongly auto-tagged as a GTX graphics card).

Upvoted, and I accidentally reported this post too, sorry, it's a decent deal!

Very poor quality.. Please avoid sports direct... Ban them as they are not deal...rather stealing

So did I which made the sole wear out a bit so I bought another pair and will use it predominantly for travel. Nothing beats them :) Except the Blue/Yellow ones seem harder to track down again

Even Nike and Adidas? I find that hard to believe considering I've bought second copies of Nike trainers before and the ones from SD have been identical to the ones bought elsewhere.

The ones for sale now are a different colour and were a different price all along.

They are my daily wear :) won’t wear anything else. Just got a non gtx version for £67 from wiggle using the 10£ new customer discount code.

Sam lies

I can't speak for anyone else on here, but I can honestly say I couldn't care less what other people wear on their feet! :/ You really shouldn't worry about what others see fit and you'd maybe come across less grumpy sounding, I mean Roger?

Funnily enough, no! (flirt) Personally I don't go for the "Everybody look at me, I'm a knob." type of look. I also don't wear them silly sunglasses with bars across the front, nor them 'joker' ski hats for the same reason. (cheeky)

Horses for courses I guess. You'll have a few pairs I guess? :D

Is there a reason why they're coloured in such a way as to make anyone wearing them look like a complete bell end? :/ (Serious question, is it for safety at night etc?)

Salomon Speedcross 4 Trail Running Shoe @ Amazon for £64.99

I recently purchased these myself to start trail running and they are a great shoe. Excellent grip and very comfortable. At the time of posting all/most sizes in stock but only in… Read more

Not one for scrambling or running I'm afraid, but do like a nice comfy pair for general walking on different surfaces (5-10 miles a day). The Hoka One Speedgoat (original) were perfect (although a bit 'squeaky' on polished floors at first), but but really helped with my bad arches, giving me a bit more freedom after a few years of daily pain when walking only short distances. They've not much life left in them now though and thought I'd try these for size. I did wonder about socks as when I tried them on I was wearing quite thick socks and have since tried them with no socks and they a little more comfy. Will have to get some thin trainer liners I guess. Can still feel pressure on the ball of my foot though, so maybe need a wider or more forgiving shoe? Thanks for the info Saaandy.

Hmm the best thing I can recommend is go to a shop and try the next size up. I spent a lot of time making sure the size was good. Depends what you're doing in them too - do you need a tight fit? I'm scrambling up mountains in the lakes so I want them snug. If you were just trail running you might not want them so tight. I went to a decathlon to try the sizes as they have them all in - might be worth a visit before you make a decision either way? Alternatively what socks are you wearing? Do thinner socks help?

I normally wear a size 10 in trainers and mine arrived today (Size 10) and are a good fit lengthwise. However, they do feel a bit too tight (width) and feel uncomfortable around the ball of the foot. Are these normally a narrow fit or do they relax after wearing for a while? If not, gonna have to return them. :( Maybe need a half size bigger as some reviews say?

I was really struggling with sizes but found that they sized almost half a size smaller than my nikes! So I bought the same size as I wanted a tighter fit!

I've done over 200k in these. They're about the best for the money. You'll still get some slippage on wet muddy areas, and they are awful on road areas. Do get a half size larger though.

Thanks. Can anyone tell me how these compare to the one posted?

brilliant boots i purchased the mens ones after breaking my ankle and leg by wearing cheap hiking boot which didn't support me, these solomons have gave me more confidence support and grip, picked mine up for 90 pounds on sale but prices have shot back up and even at full price its worth it

Exactly what I was thinking, they are niceeeee

I've had mixed experiences with this company. I posted a deal with these shoes two years ago via milletsports (payment went to Activ Instinct) and got them for £83 with no trouble. Last month I attempted to order 3 dozen squash balls with a discount code that would have been by far the cheapest deal available. Once again Activ Instinct took the payment and delivered quickly, but to my surprise only THREE squash balls were sent. After contacting the company via email and phone I had no luck and ended up raising a dispute with PayPal. It took 2-3 weeks with still no reply until I got a refund and I believe that was directly from PayPal not Activ Instinct... 50-50 I guess :/ p.s Check their Trustpilot rating...

I think he means the brown ones

I have had the mens Ultra 1, Ultra 2 and now these. I have had to stop wearing them after a few uses because under the laces there is a sheet of plastic (to keep it waterproof) and near the toes it is quite a large piece and it just ends abruptly and rubs the top of my toes like crazy. Very poor design.

ive never tried the boots but i already own a mens pair of these ultra gtx for 3 years that are pretty beat up now, best shoes ive ever owned bar non, recently just had to superglue the contragrip back on as it was coming away at the heel, just to extend the life. I should probably be on that macdonalds getting your moneys worth advert (party)

My other half has these shoes - great quality, really comfortable for long walks & innovative lacing system. Made with Goretex, unlike some of the cheaper competitors. Put a Superfeet Green insole in & they are amazing. At this price I would definitely buy them. Heat from me.

Me too - I have two pairs of the Ultra 2 mid boots, would have snapped up shoes at that price.

bummer, im a sucker for a good deal and im in the market for a pair of these right now, thx.

Band 20?

Salomon gear is excellent, not sure what the moans are all about. I have quite a few pairs of walking boots and none of them could be described as pleasing to the eye. But they're built for comfort/toughness, not for style. Would love to see those "very beautiful blue shoes", sam_of_london ;) Here's some Amazon reviews if you're undecided:

Bet they don't have Band20 either

?????? I have a pair of these boots and use them frequently fell walking in the Lake District. They are normally available around the £120 mark so this is a reasonable price. I am deeply puzzled how this can be voted cold. If you go onto the winter fells with something bought from Poundland on your feet it is really quite likely you are going to meet the local mountain rescue group. These, on the other hand ( or foot ), will deal with any conditions and surface thrown at them.

I think it's because they were £85 last week from field and trek

Voted cold? This place wouldn't know quality if it kicked them up the arse. Anyway, good price for a decent pair of boots. Salomon also do a 2yr warranty.

Decent price as is but GO will possibly do their usual price match and drop 10% (size depending if in stock.) So maybe under £95.

nice boot. i bought them recently and they are proving their worth already- i would recomend them

Back to 124 :/

not needing these, but if you havent tried this brand before, i would defo SIZE UP by one size on your usual. i am a 9 in Clarks, Asics, Teva, Hi-Tec, Geox, Merrel, Karrimor, Crocs, Fenchurch, Diesel.... but a 9.5 in adidas... but in salomon i had to get a 10, the 9's were really REALLY tight!

took a chance on 10.5 for £85 delivered, reading reviews they are tight fit, if not I will send them back

Brilliant boots, comfy from the start and never had any issues with them.

Great advice i had to return my size 10 and have been waiting a year since for the price to drop to buy another pair, sadly i have just seen this deal and no size 10.5 or even 11 available, thankfully got the North Face boots posted here for £72 and they are great !

My partner and I both have these boots and they are substantially better than the Berghaus boots we had prior. They have managed snow, torrential rain, sodden boggy ground, slippery rock and sub zero temperatures in the Lake District and have kept our feet warm and dry. They tend to be small fitting, in my case one size up although She Who Must Be Obeyed found a perfect fit at her usual size. Both pairs are still going strong after a year.

I've been looking at these for the past couple of days and pricematched them this morning as well. The only reason I didn't buy them was the reports of water ingress after a short while. Check it out on Google
