Fantastic starter machine. Buy without hesitation!
Thanks op, the missus was on the lookout for 1 for a while now, good price.
Thanks op. Just ordered. Been looking for a decent sewing machine at a decent price
Seems extraordinary value.
I was about to say the same that advert is annoying and it keeps popping up.
I bought one, earlier. Had to return it. Useless
Waste of money.
Good to see some love for this.I posted a deal for £199.50 sometime back and it didn’t excite many. https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/brother-fs100wt-sewing-machine-reduced-from-399-to-19950-amazon-lightning-deal-2360709
Got the similar model for my wife couple of years ago from US. She loves it, still going on. We are using 110v to 220v voltage converter though.
Got it as a present for my mother and she loves it :D It was priced 229 from 1st Dec 2017 I believe. Good deal!
Does it work with leather, or not strong enough?
I read that as overclocker machine... thought it was a bargain pc lol.
I bought one of these and it was broken after 2 days. Not sure it's worth it!
Couldn’t agree more. Don’t waste your money - you can do a better job and save yourself a lot of hassle with a needle and thread compared to this.
Honestly, don't bother. Wait for a deal on an actual sewing machine or get a secondhand one. This will put you off sewing for life and is so pants you probably couldn't make any pants with it!
Has bad reviews
Are these the type of sewing machines which use only one thread? Which can just be unraveled by pulling one end of the thread? And are basically useless
Yeah my mother and wife took time to look into these and both got a Janome as the opinions seemed they are now better than Singer.
I'd personally go for Janome over Singer . It's more reliable.
That's one of best brands. I bought my wife same model 5 years ago from JL. She's extremely happy!!!
I'm certainly not an expert, others will probably be more helpful than me, but I've done a bit of research. Top 2 brands to buy are Janome or Brother. Singer was apparently bought out a while back and now it's not the brand it used to be - cheap parts and lots of breaking down (is what I've been told). The knowledge in the John Lewis haberdashery section is amazing, they're so helpful and from their impartial recos I definitely decided on a Janome.
I am not familiar with this brand. How does it compare with the brand singer
Yeah, others may not find it, but my local still had a few. Going to read some reviews...thanks :)
The model is 6180. Looking online it is exactly the same as the Singer Starlett 6680. It comes with the extension table. Fantastic machine and brilliant price. Not sure if you will find one in a Lidl store now as the offer started 2 weeks ago.
Can't see this on the Lidl site now but saw it in store earlier - telling someone about it..does anyone know what model the Singer Sewing Machine is, please? There's not great information in this post, I'm afraid.
Thanks, updated the prices in the title.
I bought both the overlocker and sewing machine this morning - not opened them yet though. This old guy and his wife were in front of me when the doors opened. He wouldn't let me past him, kept dodging side to side as he walked so they got to the machines first then stood in front of the display in such a way that I couldn't take a machine until he had secured one for the wife. The funny part is there must have been about 40 of each machine. Made me chuckle. Can I just point out that the overlocker is £139 and the sewing machine is £129, the OP header makes it look like it is both machines for £139. Fantastic bargain anyway as the cheapest I have found the sewing machine alone is double the price. Not managed to find anything on the overlocker apart from Youtube videos all dated 31st August 2017 so as OP says, it may be a new model
i got a silvercrest on about 3-4 years ago out of lidl she has never missed a beat with me im not a heavy user made a few sets of curtains and general fixing clothing i think it was 89£ back then and im happy with it
Hi luckyf, yes I've made summer dresses with this machine and it was enjoyable as machine so much easier than old singer. This machine wasn't so happy on some super heavy duty work, ie sewing two layers gortex fabric with padding. If you're looking for heavy duty machine my sister swears by Toyota super jeans machine
I've had this model for a couple of years. I've had some issues with thread snapping and it takes a bit of time to get used to tension adjuster. The power cable is shorter than my older singer so if it's a gift maybe get an extension lead at the same time. Good range of stitches and attachments , eg changeable feet. Can't remember if it's got blanking disk enclosed for embroidery. All in all its a great machine with wide range of functions at a good price. Suggest you use gutterman thread rather than the spool of threads also often on offer at Lidl at same time as machines.
I got a singer sewing machine a few months back to take up sewing, and i really love the machine. So easy to use, seems very good quality and very good value. I don't know about this one, but the one i got is really lightweight, yet seem very stable and sturdy. I would definitely recommend singer sewing machines.
It was from a different seller which has sold out. Shame I wanted a heavy duty sewing machine to make sofa cushions :(
Seems to have jumped back up!
£189.99 in my basket?
Must be national a friend bought in Corby last week
Anyone found out if it was national?
for ebay users. all of the lidl items are piled in Lincoln. next to the Homebase. You need to come by 10 am everyday!
You can check stock online at the works but price has now risen to £120 so try lidl tomorrow if near you for Singer 2282 £79.99
Can you please tell me which shop.Have been to both works they do not sell this in shop.
Singer as people remember are long gone. The name was bought y an Italian company i believe. Avoid any Singer machines as they are very poor. Pay the same for a Janome, Elna or Brother and save the hassle.
My wife has a Silvercrest Sewing machine which quite frankly is rubbish and was wondering what peoples opinions of this model are?
Wish my store had them
wow great price my daughter wants on of these will check my tescos
Good find - thanks for sharing (and welcome) :)
I have just checked the link, still available. Did you find it cheaper somewhere else? Thank you.
not on that price anymore
I see the deal is back on. Mine arrived yesterday, very pleased with it as I've never used a sewing machine before but managed to shorten the leg of two pairs of trousers on my first attempt.
back in stock at £55.99 but would hurry
mines been despatched, apparently delivery scheduled for tomorrow Easter Sunday!
Deal finished, :( mods please expire.
£69.50 for me
Where's the boys one?
Sexist thread title! Outrage!
Mum got the sewing machine a couple of weeks ago. Looks pretty good. Hobbycraft have a great accessories pack for sale at just £10. Contains everything you'd need to get you started inc scissors, thread, unpicker (
You can cancel the magazine but you won't get your money back. That's the whole point of paying up front!!!
Also, any suggestions for a good accessories pack? And any simple begginers user guide to using the machine?
Received my sewing machine today. Now what do I need to do to cancel the magazine suscription?
You pay the years subscription in full and £5 postage for the machine and there's the £5.75 cash back but what I've done is posted the top cash back referral link so I get money from getting them to join, 4 had last time I looked, with any luck I'll get a few more and have the magazines and the machines for a lot less.
A whole pile of those in Penicuik store if anyone's wondering.
they always come once or twice a year
Wife has the Brother 1034d great machine, Singer not as good anymore.
Decent price but I'd spend a little more and get a brother 1034d
