Top tip - aftermarket pens work just as well as the Microsoft ones do - and can be had for £15 from amazon
Great deal - great laptop - but OOS now :)
Had a surface 3 (not even the pro) for 4 years working as an IT consultant, best device going. Iv just replaced it, but 4 gig ram, intel atom so not exactly a powerhouse (my 1 year old phone is actually more powerful) but could run all the office apps, video calls, email, internet, download and play all streaming and downloaded films, never needed repaired and most importantly for me portable. If you want to play games, no, if you want to do graphic design or architecture, no. Everything else yes. But if you are a home user just using it for sitting in the house, watching Netflix and surfing the internet and social media, save yourself a fortune and buy a £350 laptop.
Why does everyone advertise these showing the typecover which ISNT included? It's false advertising and shouldnt be allowed. (Having a go at the sellers here, not the OP)

Amazed there are not more offers on the 7 if this is right.
Surface Pro 8 is rumoured in January, so keep your powder dry...
No longer available at this price at John Lewis. I am hoping there will be a price reduction on Surface Pro before Christmas wonder what the chances are? Just missed the Black Friday Deals.
I had been an admirer of Surface Pro. But when comparing performance portability and compatibility, Levono Yoga will be my preferred choice. No hidden secrets of expensive compatibility options and Levono is not pricey, portable and a performer. If you want to write with a pen go for apple.
These are not upgradable as the surface is glued together...though some brave souls do use heat to unglue them. Of the 200 surfaces we bought for our company we have had a high failure rate usually down to the PSU or battery.

These devices both fulfil a different need then a regular tablet or a laptop: pen input. I'm after a digital notepad so a laptop is out of the question.
I’m inclined to agree with you about iPad Pro though wouldn’t call it useless. But having owned a surface pro 4 - I never found it very good at being a tablet or a laptop. So I would say if you want a tablet - buy an iPad. If you want a portable Windows machine - buy a laptop. You could probably buy both for the £750 this costs with a keyboard.
If you want a tablet get the iPad or Samsung. If you want to domany work, get the surface. My iPad pro is the most useless device I have ever got, does nothing that my iPad that cost 1/3 the prices does.
£592 with Black Type Cover at Amazon Warehouse with 30% off deal; reduction only shows at checkout, not in basket. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07Z5JZSG5/ 1 only.

Yeah I had white spot issue on iPad and speaker went dead on my surface go. At least Microsoft give you 24 months and sent out a replacement before I’d sent mine back. That level of service If underrated when buying tech. Luckily my iPad was from KRCS so they do too. My OG iPad 12.9 just got white spot too but it’s old and worked hard. Think I’ll buy most of my stuff from edustore nowadays for the warranty!
m hm, once the surface detects the pen can be a few mm off the screen still it should auto-reject you palm. Not had any issues with that. Though just got my surface pro 5 replaced again due to a few dead pixels for the 2nd time, and the device they sent me the fan buzzes when it goes off. but i have a 18 month warranty on the new one so no rush to send it back :) result.
Fairs. I didn’t say it was terrible touchscreen. I’ve found it pretty good. Just palm and false touch rejection. I meant using the surface as a laptop not the surface laptop (though having used one the keyboard and mouse are the only thing that comes near older MacBooks).
Also I am pretty sure this can be bought with Xbox gift cards, ( i did it that way 2 years ago) not 100% it still works though. But gonna try it for my sister. https://www.cdkeys.com/xbox-live/gift-cards-points it is another 8% off. Buy £650 worth and then just pay off the £10 yourself. £650*0.92= 598 +10 Total Cost is £608. Pretty good, IDk if u can get gift card cheaper then that i could before but this isnt bad going for now.
nah surface laptop is a waste of a touch screen. Like it will be nice to touch the screen and stuff but thats as far as it goes functionality wise. So adding £2/300 cost for that is not great. Reading wise, i havent done much book reading as such on my surface but dont have any issues. Comics i love reading on this though as you turn it sideways and just scroll down and make the comic the full width of the surface, like a actual book but better as you can zoom on this book too, that is really sweet. It being terrible touchscreen is a bit harsh, it has its problems, definitely 100% dont get it without the type cover. but the 2s it takes to flip back to the type cover and use the trackpad solves most of my issues. One big one is you accidently pull the taskbar up somehow, it is basically impossible without a trackpad (there is an on screen one u can pull up too that works) to put the taskbar back down. yes that is awful. but there are ways around it.

Can you share the link please.
And Microsoft store aswell
659 on amazon mate

Thanks, did that, they" don't price match" . Have to return it and buy another!
128 isn't ideal but very workable at this price (simple Sd covers most needs)
Chat with CS on Thier chat app
I paid Amazon £823 for this last week, do I return and buy again or contact CS?
Just watched some rugby on prime video app on my sp4 and the picture is super sharp and sound is good , had it streaming on best setting. Hope that helps

got one of these on offer from microsoft this time last year for only £60 more, with fingerprint typecover. decent device but only if you have more money than sense, which i did at the time. not sure what is more recently available in terms of laptops with touchscreen/stylus options and coming with latest ryzen mobile cpus, but that would be what i'd aim for now.
Indeed its bad enough that the hardware is overpriced but having drives and ram soldered kill any chance of me buying this which is a shame i like the concept over a laptop
yeah no problem, got a 200GB card in my 256GB Gen 5 surface and havent had any problems.
Now there's a good idea. Didn't occur to me that it had a micro SD slot. 256 + 400 would certainly be enough and I wouldn't worry about relatively slow access to data. Thanks!
should have a micro SD card slot, 400Gb was on here for £40 recently? so unless u want an SSD thats usually enough?

These have a MicroSD slot so you can add 400GB for not a lot of money
Yeah, it did go back to the standard price this morning cos I was buying one for work but when I went back around 12 to finalise the purchase it had dropped back down to 660 again.
Good spot! Expiry date was set to last night on the assumption they would end the deal along side prime day ending. *Unexpired
Live again at £660
Thanks for sharing @SirLan (unicorn)

OOS at Currys
The i5 SP7 is the equivalent speed of an i7 SP6. I would get the i5 SP6 if i needed more storage space or I would get the i5 SP7 if I needed a faster processor.
Hmmm, this or the Surface Pro 6 with 256GB SSD for £620.10 ? https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/microsoft-surface-pro-6-ms-refurb-i5-128gb-8gb-12-month-warranty-ps47610-students-at-microsoft-3562422
Microsoft direct is there at £660. The Type Cover is a lot cheaper at Microsoft though.
Amazon yes, microsoft tried earlier and can't order, might be oos

I will just keep looking every day (lol)
Sorry meant black Friday lol
when is prime day? i was thinking waiting for black friday but i need it now haha (work wise). Cant believe the price difference atm.
836 on amazon atm. But hold out for prime day. This was really cheap though, so may not reach that again. Do you have student discount access at all? Good deals on the surface pro 6 under 500 at ms store
Can anyone find this similar price again? same model is now £899 plus (device only) Why so cheap last month?

Bit of an old post but ipad would never compete with the surface if you're looking for a full desktop browser. Had to return my ipad pro because it slowed me down with productivity. It's got other uses but if you want to use it for work purposes then the surface "blows the surface" out of the ipad pro
Just get the devices side by side. Theres a reason I had a surface as my daily driver, i saw the specs. The ipad is a much better device, but windows is a better OS, thats what it comes down to. I literally compared them side by side, the screen, pencil functionality, speed in loading webpages, camera, microphone, speakers, these are all significantly better on the pro. I didnt believe it until my gf showed me her pro and we did side by sides. Now I have an ipad, and for my use cases (graphical work with pencil, media consumption, content creation) its significantly better. Trust me, I didnt want to stomach the cost but kind of had to as it was so useful for work.
I soon got used to using it on my lap with no problem. Only during summer when I was wearing shorts did it become a little uncomfortable lol. But due to it's weight especially it's fine on your lap.
Most of those seem sub Screen - the surface has higher pixel density, granted the iPad pro has higher peak brightness. Wifi the surface has better technical specs, the rest are subjective and therefore opinions. The point still stands - hardware wise the surface is objectively the better machine.
Screen, wifi capbilities, touch screen, overall speed in use. Ive had both, trust me, the ipad is faster. Spec sheets miss optimisation

These comments confuse me a bit when so many streaming and cloud options are available. It also has a microSD slot I believe in which you can probably quadruple the storage. However, these aren't for loading thousands of mp3s or 'offline' movies, that's not their market.
Thanks for posting @mattee77 and a belated welcome to hotukdeals (highfive)
This is a good deal. 128GB just seems so little though. I’d struggle to buy a new laptop equivalent with that little storage.
778 on Amazon (but no cashback of course)
£40 topcashback also available

Depends what you want it for. I would be using it purely for remoting onto a VM when I'm out and about, or remoting into my desktop if Im at home and want to lie in bed and work. The lowest spec here should be fine for that.
These are superb tablets, but the price jumps for extra RAM and storage are just disgusting. With both at low prices, they're even more unjustifiable than ever. Surface Pro 8 should be coming soon and its about time these base specs got a considerable jump. Nothing should be shipping with less than 8GB and 256GB SSD these days,.
It’s always been the case but I wouldn’t even bother with a 4GB dual-core i3 Surface Pro in 2020 for that money... the i5 quad-core with 8GB is really the lowest worth looking at given the small price increase.
Everything in this is soldered so make sure you pick the right amount of ram and storage for your needs...

I wonder if anyone ever buys a surface pro and is fine without the keyboard? I think it’s really annoying and weird they don’t include it by default
Matches student discount, heat added.
This is a great deal (y)
Worth noting the keyboard is not included

If you're looking for a Surface, then I'd pay the extra £100 to get the i5/8gb model for £800. If you're looking for a laptop, the Matebook 13 is more powerful than the i5 surface with a sleek build and can be had for around £500. Alternatively, if you're after a tablet and are not fussed about Windows, then an android Samsung S5e with a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse can be had for just over £300.
Good alternatives to suggest in terms of specs/size?
Is this a joke
i5, 8GB RAM is £860 will get more heat?
Wow FREE delivery! That totally changed my mind about not buying it!

I have a surface pro 3, I bought it as an alternative to a 12” MacBook. I have a 16” MacBook Pro for anything heavy but for most other things the surface is great. I bought it 2014 with the i7 paired with 8gb ram and 256gb of storage. Yes, the i7 overheats but still packs a hide punch (due to the hyperthreading which in effect gives 4 cores). The build quality is, second only to Apple. It’s been dropped, scratched and abused in many other ways but apart from a few scratches in the paint, it’s perfect. The fact that it comes with windows 10 let’s me use it as an actual computer and it’s perfect for presentations with the Microsoft Wireless display adapter. I never used the surface pen apart from in the first week of having it due to its novelty. It weights less then a kilo (including the Alcantara keyboard cover) and so is perfect to carry anywhere. I actually bought a 2018 iPad Pro 11 to replace it last year but the iPad (as always for me, was only used for media consumption) couldn’t do half the things I wanted to. I can run VMs without a hiccup, I showcase my CAD projects without too much stuttering. I can use the “kiosk” feature in windows, which in itself is amazing. You just put it on a table, let it do it’s thing and without the keyboard the surface actually looks quite good too. The only problem I have with it is battery life but it still holds 3-4 hours of charge and I just bought a power bank and a type c to surface connector to increase total battery life by another 2ish hours. So yeah, it’s a great laptop.
this is a windows pc and that is an android tablet, if you want to run windows applications then yes this is much better, if you want to watch videos and browse the web a bit the s6 is better, if you want to do digital art then probably the surface is the best bit of kit although for just drawing the ipad is best.
is this better than the tab s6 then?
The screen and stylus capabilities put it far above anything else available at this price point bar an ipad, which obviously is extremely limited in its own ways.
You have to deal with them for any issues rather than Microsoft. It would be no different to purchasing from a third party seller on eBay. You never know if they are sending you an international version, refurbished, returned etc. With Amazon you should get complete peace of mind.

I think people get mixed up what these devices are for. They aren't made with the average punter to watch Netflix, download some films and play champ manager on, you can get any £300 laptop for it. They are a portable device used in offices that give you the option to use the Microsoft suite as a tablet then a laptop. I bought the surface 3 (not surface pro 3, the cheap one) back in 2016 when I started contracting as a Project Manager and still use it now. My phone now is probably better spec'd but for what I need it for, portable, runs the office suite perfectly, internet surfing , email, great for notes in meetings as a tablet etc... tremendous.
Unfortunately the RAM can't be upgraded. Yes 128GB isn't loads but it's should be enough for Windows, Office etc. There is a Micro SD slot so you can add up to 1TB of SD storage. I've tended to go down this route using Android and Windows devices that support SD cards. You can get a 256GB U3 Micro SD for around £28 and it's easy to reuse the memory when you change devices. Surface Pro isn't a machine I'd recommend for somebody wanting a cheap tablet you probably better looking at something like a Huawei tablet.
Yes it's not the fastest processor out there but It's a fast enough processor for most people. It has a faster CPU than in my 2 year old XPS 15 with a I7 chip which was £2500 at the time! Agreed it's no substitute for a gaming or professional laptop if you're gaming or need graphics acceleration. I have an 8GB tablet and it's perfectly fine for browsing with 20+ tabs open in chrome Word, Excel, Outlook. Pricing is a premium but I'd take the this over a iPad Pro every day.
You are right, got it confused with the Surface Book. Damn it!
Quidco cashback is a % amount you can get by clicking through from our site to the retailers and making a purchase. The cashback can take a couple of months to be confirmed but then we add that into your Quidco account so you can withdraw it. I like to think of it as a little extra saving for what I might purchase anyway :p If you need any help or further information on Quidco just drop us a message to socialsupport@quidco.com and we can help :D -Joe

If a link/price was included it would've stood more. Regardless, my bad for not seeing your comment.
It’s always been cheaper at amazon. I mentioned that in one of the very first comments a week ago.
I've not checked but has Amazon recently reduced price? (this is from a week ago) Maybe post the Amazon deal? Just because you can't see the utility, it doesn't mean there aren't many use cases. There's one simple example just above ^ Sometimes other features outweigh raw power or cost.
Apart from the fact that seems cheaper on amazon from what I see, I can't see the utility to spend all this money for a tablet. With that price we could get a very good laptop (more powerful). !?!?
Finally! Looks like some good competition to maybe help with the high price point of the surface range. Eager to see the price point on this.

What are the chances this offer will still be going at the end of this week?
15% of Wow points through Perks at Work (Employee discount) saving of almost £100
Unfortunately mine didn't. My Surface Pro 2017 developed a screen issue and they wanted me to send it to them for repair. I begged for a replacement machine but they said no. I had been using the device to take handwritten notes for my psychotherapy business, and to do my accounts and all that kind of stuff so I really needed it. I ended up using the Ipad Pro for all of that stuff in the end as it was generally more stable in my sessions (i.e. it wouldn't crash, sometimes with the Surface Pro I would go and show someone a pdf and randomly it wouldnt load for whatever reason, once after an update the start button wouldn't work, just little annoyances like that that you dont want to deal with inbetween clients). I'm sure most the bugs are sorted now. Toying with the idea of a Go 2 with USB C. I currently own a Surface Laptop 1st Gen which hasn't skipped a beat since I have had it but the 3rd gen is a bit pricey for me for what you get.
Jesus Christ my wife is going to kill me. It was 2016.
Nope, US law. You could have tried a Section 75 claim against the CC provider but the statute for claims in UK is 6 years...so kick yourself that you didn't read this 3+ mths ago! (S75 would be a monetary settlement for repair).

I have the Surface Pro 4, brilliant, stopped using my workstation since I have the dock too, no complaints. Wondering if it's worth upgrading now or better to wait.
I got this from John Lewis for £679 with 2 years warranty. Great portable machine on site with battery optimised I can get nearly a full day 7-8 hours before I need to top up. Has USB C so I have not tried but should be able to charge from portable battery bank.
There is videos on youtube how to change the battery but it is not something a DIY job. If you ask some of the phone computer repair shops they might do it but you would be taking a chance and it will be expensive.
I own a surface, I use it as my travel laptop for using at work. For that it is amazing, lightweight and feels great to type on. As others have said. Battery is terrible I have to keep it plugged in. Also I have heard if you break the screen it is near impossible to get fixed. Also for the price, you cannot upgrade any internals or battery in the future as it hard for anyone to access the internals. I’m happy as I got it at a bargain price. But would not pay this, rather get another laptop deal.
Laptop I have one later I slowly feel that the life of the laptop is a little short (annoyed)
