Yep shows how passionate we can be for classic Hong Kong cinema and building our own collections. I didn't have many shops around me (other than HMV) that sold these DVDs so it was a mix of physical stores and eBay/Amazon. But yes as mentioned above, 88 films/Eureka are doing justice with their good quality releases since the HKL days. I mean I don't plan to get all of them other than the Jackie Chan/Sammo Hung releases
I don’t think the prices are unreasonable, it’s about what you would expect for a typical blu ray film release and these are two small boutique labels that need to recover their production costs somehow, it’s not the same as Sony distributing them. We should count ourselves lucky there is enough demand to produce these remasters at all as well as them not being sold at Criterion prices
Wow, you went through a similar thing too? How weird, I’m glad I’m not the only one, makes me feel less of a mug. I’ve not even heard eureka/88 films, the cover art looks great but not sure about paying £15 for these in this day and age considering most of these films were going for £7 at hmv back in 04 when dvds were very popular. Yeah Hong Kong legends are great, packed full of extras, I love film commentaries but you get less of them these days because people don’t buy dvds anymore. Now that I’ve got the space I’m actually gonna start building my dvd collection back up by going to charity shops and wherever else sells them cheap. I’ve only literally just got out my 100 dvds last month and put them on the shelf after they’d been in a box for 10 years. It actually felt like I’d lost a bit of identity in that time.
The Fearless Hyena Blu-ray - Jackie Chan (dvdbeaver.com) The PQ is the best it's ever been. Quite a number that work with 88 Films and Eureka for these HK releases post on Blu-ray.com. Blu-ray Forum - View Single Post - The Fearless Hyena - 88Films. Jackie Chan classic announced
Glad you kept your HKL collection and I did similar myself when I moved out and didnt have as much space as well as being a father too. You get that added pressure of 'do I really need this' but I'm happy I still have most of my HKL collection. As great as these 88 films are, HKL was grounbreaking at its time and released so many classics with a good amount of special features including the fab Bey Logan commentary. Glad you have a bigger house now, maybe you can slowly build up your Blu-Ray collection of the Eureka/88 Films that you want :)
Smyths have them for £70 if you've got a store near you with stock?
Still waiting for this kind of deal on the andy warhol one.
Thanks appreciate your view as the resident lego guru! I am going to wait for once, will snap up two more when they go a bit lower. Makes you think though- buying three at full price equates to more than the cost of the new world map...despite being bigger and more pieces.
Not sure tbh, hit that price at Argos just before Christmas and hasn't been lower since. I think at £73 its a good price but I think it could go to £65 - £70 before retirement whenever that is. It depends how much you want it and would risk it.
Shame, worked for me an hour ago as I tried before posting! It reappears regularly, worth keeping an eye out.
Trying that code and saying it has expired.
Cool! Yes, all ours are travel related so nice to reminisce and put a smile on our faces. Weird times so not so easy to forget how to cherish those memories of getting on a plane and enjoy a holiday.
My home office has a 4x5 wall of them, all trips I took in a year period after coming out of a long relationship. This year working from home it's been nice to remember what it was like to travel!
Bought a good number of orders from them. Normally 18ish for 7 and can't fault the quality. Delivery takes about a week but amazing value for money. Think we have about 50 of their canvases around the house lol.

Last canvas I got from them was really poor quality, and did not even fit the frame squarely, let alone stretch over the edges! I would deffinitely not recommend them (and I paid £5 with delivery), not £10.50.
It was a page I was redirected to which had ways I could post the link, either Facebook or LinkCopy or one other. Can’t guarantee this’ll be the case for everyone
Interesting you got that in a mail? Did it have a code?
Not sure the spending requirement but I just bought 2* 30cm*20cm canvases and got an offer for 3 free 20*20 prints
Had the same error as you but figured it out, it's only using regular platinum points, even if it allows you to add them to basket. The store adds up all the platinum points from the games but it won't let me use them.
Others have said that it's pretty fussy about payment methods and about how long you've lived at the address. All I can suggest is to try another payment method as it's working ok for me still.
I went on live chat about it and they were pretty much useless. Just said there might be problems with the points and to try again in the future.
Also getting the same error ^
I get errors after putting in payment details. "Unfortunately an error occurred, please try again." Won't tell me what's wrong though.
