Very limited stock. Nothing in Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Newcastle or South London where I can get it collected. Managed to reserve one in Galashiels in the Scottish Borders but await the usual call to say they don't actually have the stock. Thanks for posting though, hope I get one as would be fun to try out.

Has Amazon price matched this yet?

Takes good photos (compared to its immediate competitors) at 5376 x 2688, but it's not great for videos, so only a good buy if you want to take stills. 360 cameras have a lot of limitations, not least the small lenses and the fact that the image will be sharper in the two directions the cameras are pointing, and softer towards where the edges are pointing, but all (2 lens) 360 cameras have these limitations. The quality is like a decent-ish phone camera.

Looks interesting. But is it any good? Seems very low res.

I use it with my iPhone 6plus and my wife’s iPhone 6.

true, i dont :p you say they DO show 23.99 - thats present tense which means it should show it now it doesn't so...

When AMAZON had it listed as £19.98 they had the regular price (i.e. £23.98) greyed out with a line through (i.e. the "normal" price they sell at). Anyway, you don't believe me so no point continuing with this. PS Can still be bought through Amazon from MyMemory at £19.99 for those who prefer.

tbh not sure you are looking right - as far as i can see amazon dont show ANY 'normal' price for this card they just show 23.69 - not any previous or rrp or anything they have sold it for 30.99 until oct 2018 so ... i am going to belive 3camels ;) 19.99 is the price ON amazon but not FROM amazon

Well camel x 3 have got it wrong then. It was £19.99, sold by Amazon, for at least 2 weeks up until the 3rd December, (as I'm sure people who used my link above at the time found out). BTW Amazon show £23.99 as the normal price, not £33.99 claimed by MyMemory.

camelcamel says 23.69 is lowest its been its been 19.99 3rd party since 28th nov

Ah LAX, I Called up to state the price had changed and as a "good will" gesture getting £15 credited back. I now have my invoice which clearly states 29-NOV-18 order so £100 cashback should be honoured as it complies with #4 of the Pana T&C. Mine arrives tomorrow - could do with it first thing as I have a lot of video to do tomorrow morning! Will post back on my thoughts - this will be my 8th camcorder, first 4 Sony, next 4 Pana! First 4K one!

Noticed the drop as well, but didn't get around to cancelling the order. My item is being shipped today. Their policy has changed, so I'd need to return this item and re-order if I want to take advantage of the drop. I'll wait and see, but quite likely won't bother for the difference. I guess that's exactly what they bank on :-(.

Crikey, the price has dropped to £584.10 !! Still can't make up my mind, though :)

The OP's Amazon deal has gone up to £649 - hope it comes down again before Christmas!

And it went back up to £799.99 today too!

That looks like the older 2014 model. The 2018 Hero is the one that can be flashed

Damn Out of stock. What about this one. Is it the 5 that can be flashed to black?

I've a pair of these and always worked great, it's a shame the form factor didn't really take off as I prefer them over the other bulkier action cameras. I have a couple of the newer ones as well and don't miss the lack of 4K on the older ones although do like the better batterylife on the Session 5's, that said this is a great price for the older model. I bought a Session 5 from this company and no issues with them, it was a white box but the camera seemed in as new condition and has worked fine.

I would imagine the comments on these probably come from people who don’t or never have had one. Apart from the kite surfer who must be throwing some abuse at theirs. I have had one for a few years that I use on my motorcycle, it is brilliant. The footage is crystal clear and the quality is outstanding. At £70 is buy another without hesitation.

What would be better - Gopro Hero 7 Silver or YI 4+? Both are around £200 at the moment

Check voucher cloud you can get 10 pound off. Question - is silver hero 7 or this 2018 hero for £149 better??

It's actually not better than the hero 5 black. It has a built in battery and a few other limitations. It's not an upgrade for hero 5 black or 6 black owners.

Just get the Hero 7 Black. You won’t regret spending the extra for the stabilisation and Timewarp. It’s great.

Also missed out on this so following to see if they drop below £149

I've been on the lookout for a cheap mini camcorder / video recorder. This one seems to be pretty well reviewed, especially for the price. Can anybody weigh in? Thanks

Cold from me. Looks same spec as ones that are available from Chinese retailers for around £10. Personally I would suggest spending a little more and getting something that will do more than 30 FPS at 1080p. The 4k (interpolated) cameras are regularly available on Amazon for around £30. They also have built in WiFi etc.

Just a quick follow up to let buyers know that I have received the delivery from Argos!! The box was a bit tatty but the camera is in perfect condition and all the main accessories are included. I will be using the camera for vlogging and shot some footage with it this morning...the external mic and quick macro focus make it perfect for the type of filming that I do and it shoots better for my specific needs than any phone, dslr, tablet that I own. Happy days and I hope that all of the buyers enjoy it!!

For this camera it’s not nonsense actually, there are compact 30x zoom cameras for the same quality, why carry this in 2018. So all you will miss in a phone camera camera is the zoom but quality is not far off (if I compare with this). So everything depends what’s your usage. I don’t think of carry a camera like this for 30x zoom which I may not even use.

No, I got it ok, thanks! :) Just picked yours to reply to, but spotted a lot on the thread suggesting a phone camera is as good, and in some cases better. Which is nonsense

Just ignore anyone who doesn't think that this is a fantastic find. I for one am very grateful for your post and have bought one, thank you. I use all kinds of video capture devices for my YouTube channel, camcorders, actioncams, phones etc. Anyone of these devices are good if it suits the shooting scenario, because of this it becomes very subjective to say that one's better than another. Although, the one thing that I can say for sure is that this camcorder at its usual price, about £230, is great value. At this price, for something that'll be in perfected condition with a 12 month warranty, it's an absolute no brainer. BTW. Regardless of the type of camera, anything with OIS and a mic input is unheard of at anywhere close to this price, regardless of resolution etc. Oh yes, and optics made by Zeiss. Again, thank you for posting this, it's more than appreciated. Cheers, Dave.

you need to consider resolution vs bitrate... not just resolution. handycams provide BETTER video then mobile phones by far (generally speaking) BUT inferior to DSLR's... - handycams have better encoding (re: "bitrate") therefore much more video can be captured (vs DSLR on high settings) also they are 3-4x less expensive, smaller and lighter... so it depends what your intention is AND what you are going to be displaying the media on... some peoples intention is to merely "obtain electronic device".. if you are not interested in photos, want decent quality video and plan to record alot, then buy a handycam...

Amazon are quite good, let them know it's not working as expected.

I've played around with it and it does seem to have a lot of potential. The app doesn't have 4k video, but it's just only been released, so hopefully they'll add this feature in the next update. There's more degree of rotation as unlike the Osmo 2, the YI can rotate 360 degrees and it also includes an extra function which holds the horizontal.

I have s8 and I can't get it to work properly, it has a mind of its own, the app is utter rubbish and Bluetooth connection from the app keeps disconnecting and also the camera using the yi gimbal app doesn't focus properly. Don't know if Amazon will refund? I tried calibration few times, using Samsung camera app I was able to make a video however it wasn't straight.

Arrived this morning and really struggling to get it working correctly... Think my Huawei P20 Pro may be a bit too big for it

Well.. these are correct observations, also manufacturers trying to sell numbers and new design since Henry Ford, only because newer is better, etc. It is not necessarily the point regarding action cameras. For me personally this is a product with small footprint and few sacrifices had to be made. Decent 2.7k is more desirable vs fragile DSL size device, or over complicated features.

Ok thanks

They're quite different devices, the Yi 4K has the advantage of replaceable batteries and a usable interface on the device itself but it's extremely fragile (mine shattered from a short fall) and the dive case it needs for use a gopro mount and weather sealing is bulky and fiddly to use. I've got both and generally prefer the Sessions for their much smaller size and weight which makes them easier to mount.

Lots of factors. Sensor size, sensor quality, model of processing chip, lens quality, etc. Unless you're familiar with the components, the best bet is to read a review on a specialist photography site like DP Review (general tech sites like TechRadar aren't very good).

Just received mine today, was supposed to be next day but I called on saturday and he said due to supply and demand a lot of units had to be shipped from a bigger warehouse. Just charging mine now seems good build quality wise!

Has anyone had any tracking information through? It said next day delivery on the order but not heard anything.

That's not bad at all for a helmet camera.

Resolution does add to the battery time, yes. Based on what I have experienced - it JUST about gets me to work on a charge at 1080P30. 1080P60 (plus I have stabilisation on) gets you about 1:30 1080P30 gets you to about 1:45 720P did me about 2hrs

Thanks. I take it turning the camera down in resolution doesn't add anything to the battery time? Just under 2hrs might actually be ok but if I can stretch it slighly?
