To answer my own question....yes it does support Alexa but it's really rubbish https://alexa.amazon.co.uk/spa/index.html#skills/dp/B077K659KM/reviews Totally unlike the perfection of Spotify For £1.62 though, I'll take it, thank you

I got BT Sport mobile 📱 app for £2.50 per month from Plus.net broadband. It works really well and if you have a chromecast and a decent phone you cqn qatch it in the TV

Would this be content locked and not have the same library of music as a UK purchased account?

Does Alexa work with this? Thanks

One station that started 2 years ago in debris space. Its gone up to 32kbps, them finding a tiny bit more debris. I don't see many, if any, stations moving to Dab+ and losing 90% or more of their current Dab audience.

LadyEleanor

Even rarer is me using any below 128kbps. Many default to a low bitrate so you have to seek out the listenable stream.

tgheretford

Union Jack is now 32kbps. I wish the bitrates were higher - similar to that in mainland Europe but bitrates comparable to Internet streams is simply not going to happen (and 320kbps is a rare thing - if anything, high bitrate streams are rare online - 48kbps for AAC streams are the norm which would be equalivent to 56kbps for DAB+ (additional overheads are included for a DAB+ service)). The UK digital mark specification does not require radios to decode more than 188kbps at the error protection level used for the vast majority of DAB+ services in the UK.

tgheretford

Two main differences: - The use of the AAC codec instead of the older MP2 codec which allows a station to reduce its bitrate by 2-3x that of an equivalent MP2 station. There is also far less excuse for a station to drop to mono because the savings is only 2-3kbps for a station that uses parametric stereo (all UK services do with the odd exception on a small scale DAB multiplex if I am correct). - Improved error correction by around 40% from my measurements. Whilst a DAB service is showing errors (so called 'bubbling mud'), the DAB+ service will remain stable. Using a pocket radio, I get far less errors and dropping out listening to a DAB+ service compared to a DAB one. There should be no excuse for a manufacturer not implementing DAB+. I have seen radios below £10 which support DAB+.

I have several DAB portable radios and all but one have no trouble picking up a strong signal. I live in Liverpool and I can pick up Manchester and Stoke stations. The nearby railway line and overhead cables cause a great deal of interference on FM so much so that Radio 3 is impossible to listen too. DAB makes listening possible and, to quote the hype, interference free. As for the mono speaker in this set, you don't get much of a stereo effect if any all from twin speaker sets so it's no great loss. What does confuse me is the 3 months Deezer subscription. This isn't an internet radio.

bignig

I always prefer to use FM where available for the Stereo. DAB, like CDs, is never as good as they initially advertised and broadcasting in only mono is such a backward step. :(

In fact, some children thought they experiment if seeds could grow next to a router and the answer was...

davening

BTW, I once bought a previous version of a cheap black portable Logik at Currys and struggled at connecting as areial? had to be pulled full length. Had to return it. Do doublecheck wrt new version.

davening

Put your DAB radio next to router, mobile on a call, Bluetooth speaker, cordless phone base unit... and play anything if you can.

Thanks Picked up the second one. I usually play music through my Amazon Dot but doesnt look as if there is any way to set them up as a stereo pair using bluetooth or using an Aux cable :-( (Unless I'm missing something). I guess I could get a 3.5mm Aux to 2 x 3.5mm Mono Splitter which would do the trick..... Just trying to make it as easy to use as possible for her indoors & the sprogs.

john757

They turn off to standby mode after 20 mins. When you start to play something they will turn on themselves and start to play automatically. Great paired with Spotify Premium.

Tomb

I have a chance of picking another one of these up. Can I as how they work when using 2 as a stereo pair? For example do you have to switch both on individually or do they come out of a standby mode? Cheers.

Tomb

Bagged & tagged. :-) Product now removed from website.

john757

We have 4 in the same room. Two in front and two behind, all set to their respective postions (left/right). I liked it when we had 2 All3's behind and the All8 in stereo mode at front. The 4 sound better again as the front now give proper stereo separation. If you can grab 2 or more if definitely recommend them. If you look at pro reviews of the All3 they say they sound just as good and some say better than the Sonos 1 equivalents.

If you can be bothered it’s quite a bit cheaper to subscribe in Turkey using a VPN. There is a hotukdeals thread on it. You can subscribe to any plan at a much lower cost https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/deezer-monthly-subscription-service-only-6-for-family-account-with-6-profiles-1-pp-pm-using-hola-vpn-2904114

I hope this is useful for anyone who pays for Deezer on a monthly basis. Three things to remember (from my reading of the T&Cs): - You pay the £99.90 up front. - No refunds if you want to cancel before the year is over. - Goes back to £9.99/month when the year is over. As far as I can tell, this only applies to individual accounts (not Family plans).

Think you've misunderstood how this site works. These deals are posted by the users of the site, not the site itself. I assume had you known this you wouldn't have worded the post as you did; as obviously we can't expect the person who posted the deal to trawl through hundreds of store's stock for us; after all they've been awesome enough to let us know about the deal in the first place.

So I tried this yesterday (I have two numbers on contracts with them for the last 5 years plus some odd data pay-as-you-go sim), and they told me they're sad to see me go -- agent from the retention team was giving me *worse* offers I could get on my own on http://www.three.co.uk/existing-customer-offers/sim-plans-for-phones . Agent from the cancellation team was giving me worse offers as well (for example was trying to sell me that 30GB offer for £20) or completely irrelevant ones (I mentioned to them tethering is always a must in my plans, and they had the audacity to offer me £7/co rolling monthly contract with 4GB data and completely no retention with option of buying the tethering package (1GB) for additional £5 (making it basically something less useful than this 4GB contract from the same page)... Their retention team is absolutely the worst (actually my last year's experience with "normal" customer support is similar), and too bad EE and Voda are even worse :( Where to go?

All the T&Cs are very confused/confusing and I’d be very careful. If you click through to the actual Samsung cash back off page, it says Currys is excluded! This is could be a really good deal but who knows if you’ll actually get any cash back, especially if you don’t buy a TV?

Chasloyal

MJR

T&C for claiming cashback, Currys website looks to be in error! "Step 1. Purchase any UHD TV from a selected retailer** and a qualifying All in One Soundbar, Ultra HD Blu-ray Player or Wireless Subwoofer. Purchases must be made within 65 days from the same store/retailer"

CalumH93

How do you claim the cashback for just the soundbar + sub without buying a TV? From what I can see on the Samsung site and the T&C's, the promotion is only valid if bought with a TV (granted you would get £400 if buying both sub and soundbar). I think the Curry's page might be an error saying you can claim without a TV unless I am missing somthing?

BritishDragon

Samsung sub 'worth' £599 is just crazy. If you had £600 to spend on a sub you would be running a mile from brands such as samsung & looking at 'proper' sub manufacturers like REL, monitor audio, Dali, MJ Acoustics etc etc
