You're absolutely right it doesn't have two extra attachments, its £105 cheaper option if you include Boots points for anyone who's interested thats all.

So the difference is that its corded and also the fact it doesn't come with the extra attachments?

Nothing fishy going on here, just happens to be a good deal.

U seem to be working with Phillips or something as your always trying to promote their website (shock) . Something fishy is going on :/ :/ .

Philips has Lumea Advanced IPL SC1997/00 £183.74 with sign up for Newsletter 25% off code. 100 day money back guarantee. Its the corded version but the same 250,000 lamp flashes, extra-long cord, reviews are really good.

Yeah I used a friends. Didn’t think it was as good as Philipps but then again you pay for what you get

I just think with a 3 year guarantee and how easy it is to take them back at Lidl or Aldi if your unhappy there worth a pop. I'm not sure it would be as easy to return a Philips one via a third part sellar.

So have you purchased one of these and found that the case?

Ah, that. That's a con. You have to click through a myriad of offers, and on some pages it won't let you proceed without agreeing to, buying or signing up for something. Did you do it? I remember once trying and it seemed never ending. I gave up after a while.

Once u buy it (online) it will say at the bottom of purchase page. It did for me

She says it seems to be working but it's a long term thing. She seems less bristly lol.

is it any good? I am thinking about buying one for myself

Gave the wife the cash, she got one. Tested for pain using my leg and felt nothing. Same result on her leg. Would suggest wearing sunglasses while using it as even when pressed into the skin the light is pretty bad. I'm thinking this thing is Snake Oil but we shall see. I'll post the results here so if it comes around again people will know whether its likely to work or to just buy a box of Blue II's ;)

From what i've read so far IPL is the black car white car thing. Darker objects absorb heat better than light objects (so get rid of those white radiators folks as the heat is being reflected back into the radiator...). Therefore in theory a dark hair will allow more heat in to damage the root. Not sure what the effect of this would be on dark skin though. Now the question is, is it powerful enough to follow through on that theory.

I'd love to know, actually...though *that* person doesn't realise shaving and IPL are different hair removal methods (fierce) Some just come out of the wilderness to be grumpy on here, I'll never understand it. The only reviews I found were in foreign's the Sanitas IPL-100, so I'll update if I come up with anything. Amazon de's reviews (on Post #1) are half and half. Obviously if you have very dark skin, this is no good (judging by the illustration on the box).

I dont understand why this was voted cold

Obviously you're not saving anything in the short term - it's £180, which is probably way more than anyone has ever spent on hair removal in the short term, no matter how expensive their aftershave is. But this is for permanent hair removal so it's not meant to be a short term solution. Even if you only spend an average of £1 per week on shaving supplies (cheap disposable razors + shaving foam), if you're going to be shaving for 50 years of your life that's £2,600. But chances are you spend more on that, with aftershaves or balms, etc. If this works for you - and, again, it might not, but in theory if it did - you're going to spend a month shaving and then using the IPL device once a week, then you never have to shave again. You've saved a couple of thousand quid in shaving supplies over the rest of your life, not to mention the time you've saved, plus any discomfort you might get from shaving. Having to buy one last packet of razors and can of shaving foam is hardly a dealbreaker here - because if you're not going to give IPL a try you're going to have to buy those anyway!

You still need to buy the razor and shaving gel to use this as you have to shave first then use it so your not making any real saving perhaps in the long run but certainly not in the short term

Lookin' good!

Yes it works if you use it properly :)

IPL (intense pulse light) uses light in a very narrow bandwidth in a short pulse (similar to a camera flash). This light is transferred as heat down the hair to the hair follicle to put it in to temporary “hibernation”. Because hair grows in different phases, the hair needs to be treated a number of times to catch all of the hairs in the right phase of growth. You can typically expect the hair to stop growing for around 9 months (younger people might find the effect permanent). Because the light generates heat in the dark hair, it doesn’t work well on blonde or red hair. The light can also generate heat in darker skin tones so the earlier poster is correct to say that IPL works best on dark hair and light skin. The difference in price between systems is typically a combination of flash rate (more flashes per minute is pricier), bulb life (more flashes are more expensive), and treatment area (bigger window is more expensive). Corded devices are normally cheaper than battery but the best devices have both cord and battery. Pretty much all the cheap devices are made by the same company. I think all IPL devices are now medical devices and regulated as such.

This is my first post. If you're going to vote cold, can you at least give a reason or provide a link to where it can be bought cheaper?

You can buy most things on eBay for much less, but then you're not buying the item with the same guarantees or warranty provided with Amazon. I checked on eBay also, I couldn't find it cheaper... even second hand is barely cheaper.

Excess hair doesn't normally bother me but I'm getting hair growing out of my ears which is really annoying. It grows on the outside of the ear and just below the hole of the ear. Could this item be a solution?

My lady was interested with it, but she find out on some youtube reviews or forum that using it is quite painful. Anyone will confirm or denied this? How is it really?

The philips lumea really works but this price is not good. I purchased the philips sc2009 which has the extra attachments and more power from a seller on eBay it was listed as new-other but inside everything was brand new for £280 the seller still has more stock upon just checking - shortwinks2013 I am a man who needed to shave twice a week but after using this only 4/5 times (applications) I now need to shave once every 10-14 days It's taken 10 years off my beard 😃

Hope you didn't think it was a hair dryer!

Very good price. So far it seems to have permanently removed hair regrowth. Over 6 months now.
