Is this product (or other IPL) suitable for female anus and genitalia area?
(serious question)
I've gone from lady chewbacca to large bald patches on my legs which havnt grown for years. This was with the boots smooth skin machine.
Has anyone given one of these to the missus and not received a black eye yet?

Of course. Ensure to supply hair clippings and superglue in 50:50mix through the usb 3c port in its rear side
this is great i used it on my yorkshire terrier saved me £30 a month on grooming bills paid for itself in a few months

Amazon de's reviews (on Post #1) are half and half. Obviously if you have very dark skin, this is no good (judging by the illustration on the box).

From what i've read so far IPL is the black car white car thing. Darker objects absorb heat better than light objects (so get rid of those white radiators folks as the heat is being reflected back into the radiator...). Therefore in theory a dark hair will allow more heat in to damage the root. Not sure what the effect of this would be on dark skin though. Now the question is, is it powerful enough to follow through on that theory.

You still need to buy the razor and shaving gel to use this as you have to …You still need to buy the razor and shaving gel to use this as you have to shave first then use it so your not making any real saving perhaps in the long run but certainly not in the short term

Obviously you're not saving anything in the short term - it's £180, which is probably way more than anyone has ever spent on hair removal in the short term, no matter how expensive their aftershave is. But this is for permanent hair removal so it's not meant to be a short term solution.

Even if you only spend an average of £1 per week on shaving supplies (cheap disposable razors + shaving foam), if you're going to be shaving for 50 years of your life that's £2,600. But chances are you spend more on that, with aftershaves or balms, etc.

If this works for you - and, again, it might not, but in theory if it did - you're going to spend a month shaving and then using the IPL device once a week, then you never have to shave again. You've saved a couple of thousand quid in shaving supplies over the rest of your life, not to mention the time you've saved, plus any discomfort you might get from shaving.

Having to buy one last packet of razors and can of shaving foam is hardly a dealbreaker here - because if you're not going to give IPL a try you're going to have to buy those anyway!

Not sure why the cold votes - it's £180 in Argos when it's about £240 e …Not sure why the cold votes - it's £180 in Argos when it's about £240 everywhere else so that deserves a hot vote in my book. I almost bought one from Amazon Warehouse at this price with the 20% discount last week but didn't want to risk getting one that was used rather than just open box, so getting one new at this price seems like a good deal.Whether it actually works or not is another question though! Going by Amazon reviews it generally does, but not for everyone.Yeah, but how often do you need to buy those things? Because this is 36x the price but you're probably going to get through more than 36 razors + cans of gel in a lifetime, plus does anyone actually like the effort and discomfort of shaving, or is it a hassle you'd rather do without? But that's assuming this would work for you, because it might not and then it would be a waste of £180 - so is it worth the gamble?

Are these any good .... do they work??

Yes it works if you use it properly
IPL (intense pulse light) uses light in a very narrow bandwidth in a short pulse (similar to a camera flash). This light is transferred as heat down the hair to the hair follicle to put it in to temporary “hibernation”. Because hair grows in different phases, the hair needs to be treated a number of times to catch all of the hairs in the right phase of growth. You can typically expect the hair to stop growing for around 9 months (younger people might find the effect permanent). Because the light generates heat in the dark hair, it doesn’t work well on blonde or red hair. The light can also generate heat in darker skin tones so the earlier poster is correct to say that IPL works best on dark hair and light skin.
The difference in price between systems is typically a combination of flash rate (more flashes per minute is pricier), bulb life (more flashes are more expensive), and treatment area (bigger window is more expensive). Corded devices are normally cheaper than battery but the best devices have both cord and battery.
Pretty much all the cheap devices are made by the same company. I think all IPL devices are now medical devices and regulated as such.

Hey, I got the lumen sc1991 for body but use it on face (my decision, 2 years and I'm still alive lol. I got mine for £99..I also saw the face and body one for £150, usually they tend to be reduced when newer models are released. Personally I would stick to Philips as I have tried so many other brands, rio, hellome..I don't even remember the brands, but bought loads of the pricey ones and zilch results.
So basically dont go for a face only machine as I personally feel they are weaker models. Again this is just my opinion..
