Queue the usual "This will destroy your vinyl " claim, and then somebody giving an alternative that costs 10x the amount.
Better to buy an old Pioneer belt drive deck (PL-112) in good condition and pair with an Ortofon OM5 cartridge/stylus. First step into decent quality hifi.
Edited by: "Bargin.General" 17th Feb
If this is used to play any of the autotuned banality that clogs up the singles chart it's probably the stylus that will give up. I suppose it could be used to see if your vinyl is warped.

You really need to go a couple of hundred quid plus for something …You really need to go a couple of hundred quid plus for something good....those ion turntables are crap as well, some say they actually damage your vinyl....glad I never sold my trusty Trio/Kenwood system and kept my vinyl lol.

This is not true but seems to be a story that has stuck. All but the lowest quality suitcase systems are no worse than the old Amstrad and Saisho systems that 90% of people had back in the 80's or the Dansette record players of the 50's and 60's. Those cheap as chips needles did not damage records then or now. You pay the extra with high end stuff for fidelity and quality of sound reproduction not to stop albums having the grooves destroyed. My old Sanyo system from my youth never harmed my records and they still play well on my later bought higher quality Sansui system.

Was checking this out the other week at this price. A way to check if your remote is faulty and not the TV receiver is to point at a running digital camera phone and if a white light seen then usually its ok.
Aww, how quaint? It even has a VCR button

The volume control range is broad enough for that one can use it in the office without bugging other people or turning it up for a party in a small room.
I'm not dissing the deal, great value for £10 but I would spend the exta £15 and get this amazon.co.uk/Bay…+go I bought 2 over Christmas and the sound quality and battery life are great. It has NFC connection too and opening and closing the stand turns it on/off which is really handy.

I read a Which? review recently for a Hisense washing machine: it was cheap but the review said something like 'fails to do what you bought it for, ie wash your clothes'! Interestingly, when I needed a new washer just before Christmas I also looked at reviews for Miele at over £1000: said they were the most reliable (by a small margin) but still not the best at getting clothes clean. Went for another Bosch in the end and hope it lasts 11 years like the previous one. Choose the right one (plus a bit of luck thrown in) and mid market can offer the best value over time. I could buy three of those Bosch machines for the price of the Miele.

I think it was the Hoover/ Hotpoint/ Zanussi/ Candy ones he was warning about, the £350-400 jobs. Bosch I think are a bit better than these.

I've had my Argos Haier one for 10 years and although the door sensor is a bit dodgy, it's still running (touch wood) and it was about £180.

Is it a reflection of their customer base?

I think Argos invite people to review their products via email, you can't just log in and leave a review, so I would take them with a pinch of salt. They've only invited me to review a product once. And do they even publish most of the bad reviews? It's not like Amazon's review system that's for sure.

In my experience most people are overfilling wm/wrong program if it ain’t washing clothes. That’s the basic of all machines which are designed to do such.

My Hotpoint - 40c wash for shirts uses most water, I use this for everything (except bedding, underwear and towels 60c) 80min 1400spin wash - much better than the minimal water 40c cottons wash that’s over 2 hour cycle and isn’t the best at washing due to the water saving feature that really is.

A £400 machine isn’t perfect either^, people really need to keep a copy of the programs near their wm.

As I mentioned on another similar thread last week, you can get an entry level Pro Ject for £150, but you have to factor in another £20-30 for a photo pre-amp if your hifi doesnt have one.

Sound quality-wise, compared to the Bush, or any similar POS, it is about a trillion times better; however it isnt the big sounds that are better, it is the little things you dont notice at first; you find you want to play albums more often, and they make you happier, but you arent sure why; then you start to notice things in the music that you hadnt noticed before; THEN you realise how much more you are hearing compared to that old ceramic POS.
