Agreed. Doom 2016 is the better truer doom game but this is pretty good

I'm gonna have to complete Doom this winter and then look out for eternal deals next year. Should be down to £15-20 by then

Good single player game marred by all the super mario-esque platforming sections.

Got it thanks. Converted some Nectar points too that I always forget about (nerd)

Nooooooooo! I want this on PS4! looks great!!

This was awful

Can only echo what others are saying, absolutely terrible film.

They were asked, not the films fault, to be fair it was a bit poopy the way id treated it with the public denouncements. Film is def a less than average Bmovie though even if the main lead is a good actress and the director/writer obviously likes the orig games even if he didnt have the budget or ability to do it and still better than any video game film/film by Uwe Boll too.

Just appalling

Every single price matched 4 quid blu ray from zoom?

On the other side of the coin, I had few problems with the platforming and I haven't had any technical hitches whatsoever. Not saying these problems don't exist - they definitely do, going by the forums - but as always, YMMV.

Don't rush, it's doing my head in. It's more like a platformer at times. The 1st doom is better, this one has some silly mechanics. I think £20 is a good price. I paid £35, definitely not worth it and full of crashes still after the patch.

Waiting for steam but good price for it. I can’t wait to play it

Caused me some serious motion sickness using the aim and free movement after 15 mins play yet I can play Firewall Zero Hour for several hours at a time with no issues. Shame because its good fun

It works with the DS4, but then you miss out on firing the Super Shotgun over your shoulder like in Army of Darkness.

Dont think so, do you ?

Really playable with the dual shocks. I have the moves but didn’t bother with them as the DS’s worked so well.

It’s short in comparison with regular Doom games but it’s well worth it. Having to actually look up to see the Baron of Hell’s face is quite intimidating!

Exactly the same point as where I am! I've just tried to play it again but its just not doing it for me and its almost as though I'm forcing myself to play it. I'm done, not enjoying it one bit, biggest let down of the year for me as I was really looking forward to it. There are too many good games out there I could be playing instead if spending time with sonething I'm not enjoying last Doom game I will ever buy.

Fair enough, my gaming time is limited these days too, so I'm quick to veto anything that isn't doing it for me! I suppose the difference here is, while I've said that the game takes a few levels to step up to the level of 2016, I was still thoroughly enjoying it anyway. If you aren't, then yeah, maybe bin it. All I would say is that, once you have the full suit / weapons / perks etc unlocked, the gameplay is so glorious that I now find it difficult to go back to 2016. Some of the later levels / battles are insane.

Nah, gave it two goes and it wasn't for me, don't have enough time these days to force myself to play something I'm not enjoying. If you enjoy it, batter in, I don't think it's a bad game. The fact you provided a paragraph to describe the best way to play highlights my issue with the game - far too much going on. Older Dooms, and 2016 could be summarised with: Get better guns. Get ammo. Get keys. Kill demons. Find secrets. Glory Kill for health (2016).

You've got plenty more to go, I was a bit unsure for the first few levels (Cultist Base was an absolute pain). Make sure you're completely clearing out the levels, the runes and especially the Sentinel Crystals will help. You can go back and replay levels through the mission select if you did miss anything. Put all the crystals into ammo, increasing how much you can carry. Find all the Sentinel Batteries so you can unlock more crystals. And you've already mentioned it, but the chainsaw is vital in the early days. Always keep an eye on it refilling, as soon as it does, hit the lowest fodder enemy with it and refill your ammo. It was around Super Gore Nest where it started to get that flow that Doom 2016 had, where you started to feel that unstoppable Doomguy force. I'd definitely recommend sticking with it, I thought the game was glorious.

It's my game of the year so far and way better than Doom 2016 in my opinion. Angry Joe also gave it a 10/10 which is very rare for him. Check out his review if you're interested.

It's just called Doom for future reference. Doom. It's not a FIFA game. And Doom Eternal is Doom Eternal. You made me chuckle anyway that's all, have a good Monday.

I knew about Doom, but I highly doubt there would be a game called "doom" because the game art looks recent so I searched and found out the most recent is Doom Eternal, so I had to search deeper through lists of all doom games, cross compare and figure out this one is 2016. Waste of time, should ideally be in the title or description.

Yeah I think most have heard of Doom or recognise the picture though haha! Did you not know about Doom?

Not everyone is familiar with every single game series on this planet.

Used to be available to play on Geforce Now which was great but it's not anymore sadly. Glad I happened to finish it just in time as it's a great game.

No, zDoom is a free mod

There is a 'classic controls' option for anyone booting Doom up for the first time on steam and wondering why they can't move around with the arrow keys. It needs to be done from steam, not in the Doom game options. Took me a while to figure this out so thought to post if it saves someone else the same bother..

Or get zDoom and a bunch of wads

Have to agree, the cultist base level is annoying to say the least,

I'm about 3 hours into this and so far I prefer the last one. There seems to be a lot of focus on platforming in this one compared to the last game and its getting annoying.

Doom Eternal £37.49 @ Google Stadia. Deluxe edition also available for £56.24.

I preordered and canceled the founder edition as just wasn’t sure it was ready, this week i decided to bite the bullet and apart from the controller loosing connection a couple of times im sold, will be worth it just for cyberpunk 2077

Utter nonsense. Stadia is going from strength to strength

Then explain why the Steam version for exactly the same price hasn't gone cold?

Google has invested in setting up a number of new first party studios and hired some heavy hitters from the industry to lead them, so stadia won't be discontinued anytime soon. They're in it for the long run.

Also, in a few months that Stadia will be discontinued, you will have nothing but air :{
