My experience was a good one. I bought an 8kg ecobubble a few years ago. It came with a 5 year warranty. This year (4 years after purchase) it stopped working. Called Samsung who semi diagnosed it over the phone. Sent an engineer out within 4 days (at the start of lockdown). He came and replaced the main circuit board. All working fine since. In comparison, I have a Hoover Tumble dryer which coincidently developed an error last month ( still within the parts only warranty period) and Hoover want £129 labour for the engineer to come out and try and fix.

flame6969

I would stay well clear of Samsung washing machine I have one and the drum has failed on it, I've only had 4 years and now they want to charge me £100 for a call out charge before they can diagnose a problem. I'm not the only one if mentioned this on the LG washing machine deal and someone else has replied stating the same issue they had twice so beware

Mush1

can you arrange pick up of the old machine with this?

shaune

Great price, I've had this for 6 months it's brilliant, quiet, great spin, looks great. I paid £399.

dribblesmactavish

We bought one of these not long ago, it's amazing! So quiet and after the spin the clothes come out almost dry (they take around an hour of hanging afterwards to completely dry). One of the best features over our old machine is that it tells you exactly how much time is left before it finishes (and it plays a little tune when it's finished too :D ) I would definitely recommend one of these if you're looking to get a new washing machine (y) Heat added :)

I got sent the addwash one by accident by Currys. I would vnery rarely ever use it. Only useful if you noticed something just after you have started a wash. No point in adding something if the wash is already half done. You need to clean it once a month because it can get moldy even though I would leave the addwash door open after a wash for a few hours to try & dry it out. It can be handly once in awhile but I wouldn't pay extra for it.

sparky.shark

You can usually pause and add to the wash (not sure on this model). We had one with adwash and its ugly and if not cleaned regularly can look scruff.

adampike

Can I use my curry’s credit account to pay?

Toby_126

The add wash is handy, just bare in mind you have to pause the load to use it, so if it’s in a spin cycle you can be waiting for 45 seconds or so for it to slow down and allow the door to open. Since having mine I seem to find more socks I miss and have to add

That's a terrifying image! JK. We have the add-wash one with the digital inverter motor and the tune annoys the hell out of me but my wife hates it when I turn it off as she doesn't know when the washing's finished! Sadly I must admit to RTFM as for the life of me I couldn't figure out how to just do a spin cycle. All in all it is a great machine (aside from the tune what a sick joke by Samsung designers)

dandeagle

The Samsung washing machine nomenclature doesn't work by higher the number, better the spec. The nomenclature changes across each series of machine, so it's very difficult to tell what the tech specs are of each machine.

They are the same 5456 model number. Mine is the smaller 8kg version and this is the 9kg version. From your name, this version would be better for you, as you can get more clothes in.

3rdTimeMumAt40

which one is the better one please, the one you have or the one the poster has mentioned...thankyou..

Masteryates

Got the 8KG version a few weeks ago for £333. Did a much bigger load than I would have on my 7KG Zanussi and very impressed with how quiet it was. I just use the daily wash cycle which takes 64 minutes. As I've put in other threads, be aware this is a better machine than the higher numbered 5555, as it has the digital inverter and a nice display.

Zardoz

Got an earlier model of this with the AddWash door. Pretty efficient but can get a bit whiffy. Does have an 'eco-drum clean' cycle but never seems to do much. Make sure you don't use too much liquid detergent since it just collects inside the machine and remember cleaning the filter at the bottom is not an insurmountable task. :)

AzeemB

nah, I got similar model, its about an hour and then extra 30mins if I add buublewash. 289 is probably the longest settings with ecomode or something switched on

Just done a really big load in my 5456. Far bigger than I would have tried in my 7kg Zanssui. No problems at all, even with 1400 spin.

Besford

Anything but Hotpoint!

MrCharlie

Decided to go with your recommendation when it next goes on sale. After my own research Samsung can handle around 4kg of mixed clothes (synthetics/cotten) wash dry weight with the 8kg/9kg/10kg machines. LG can only handle 3 kg for the respective sizes. It strange that machine can't handle the full weight, but that's life.

MrCharlie

This one apparently has a universal motor, not the brush less digital inverter motor of the 5456 version. Digital inverter motors are longer lasting and quieter.

Masteryates

Just be aware the WW80J5456, has a lower model number than this 5555, but is a higher spec machine. Picked mine up from John Lewis for £333. Not sure if the same deal is on now. The top of these machines are 600mm which is the width of your work surface. The door sticks out another 50mm which makes the machine look fat in your kitchen.

I bought a 5410 in November which is waiting for a repair after flooding my garage last week, repair man has no idea how it flooded the garage but did find that it had frayed wiring so we’re getting the wiring replaced next week. Two weeks without a washing machine when you’ve got a 1 and 2 year old though :S

McNabFish

I found quite the opposite. Had a rat chew through the wastepipe and to change that thing you have to disassemble half the machine. Rang them up and they had a repairman out within 48 hours...

Bikerdanny

LG for me, TBH both seam like they have a horrible after sales experience, but LG are often voted the most reliable so your less likely to need warranty support. I’m pretty certain all LG Washers use Direct Drive now ( no belts to ever need replacing and no brushed motors, so they are super quiet ) I think the weak point on the LG’s are the bearings, but these seam to last several years + for most people and TBH last longer than all your budget brands.

I already replied but think it must have been deleted as well (no idea why as I didn't mention any brand names). There's nothing in your reply that demonstrates why what I have said is incorrect. For similar principles to the fire authority, any manufacturer will of course say to not it leave on night because it's not worth the risk them defining which models aren't and are OK. What could they gain from this? Nothing, there is only potential risk and lawsuits, so it's better for them to say to not leave them on at night. Otherwise what do you expect - them to say that an 800W machine is OK overnight, but an 801W machine is not? It would be far too arbitrary. This is where common sense applies. If it's a low-powered machine, not a high powered machine or a washer-dryer, and you have it installed correctly with plenty of distance around the machine, and a fire alarm in the room, then there's nothing to worry about. And you can't really deny such common sense by referencing over-reaching manufacturer guidelines.

lawsangel

This is simply just incorrect. I just contacted Samsung (yeah I’ve got nothing better to do) and they have advised against having your washing machine on over night or when your out the house, regardless of which model. And to the moderator who’s deleting my comments, (apparently for mentioning another brand) I’m not discouraging anyone from buying this, I’m just simply saying I wouldn’t recommend having it on over night.

Hero878

I don't trust Samsung washing machines. Too much bad press. I'll stick to my German Miele thank you!

edanfalls

Your advice lacks common sense as there is a huge range of power consumption, heat generation and vibration produced by washing machines. Machines that have caused issues have always been on the higher-end of these scales, and usually installed incorrectly. This machine is right on the lower-end of the scale. A fire department will state blanket advice as they don’t want to get into the technicalities of which washing machines are safe and which are not - that’s not a risk they want to take. It’s much safer for them to advise based on all washing machines. But common sense should prevail.

mps01

TopTrump wrote “Or take the soap dispenser tray to your bathroom, rest it in the bath or shower tray, unscrew the shower head from the shower hose place your thumb over the hose opening to create a jet of warm water, aim at the soap dispenser drawer”. I wouldn’t recommend doing this if you have an electric shower, I’m not sure about other makes but I know that Triton showers have a pressure “disc” in them that will go if you restrict the water flow, they are designed to protect the shower if the head gets overly scaled up as it’s running on mains pressure, once this disc goes the shower is unusable until it’s been replaced as water just comes out of the bottom of the shower unit, I have replaced these for customers whose heads have scaled up !

Ah, each to their own, the countdown can be a bit strange sometimes, saying 2 mins left until finish and taking a good 10, but I put that down to the machine sensing there's still detergent left in the water.

I'd never buy a Samsung washing machine again. Supposed to have 5 year warranty. 13 months in, it shook itself to bits. Samsung said we hadn't registered it in time so has a 1 year warranty which had run out but would do a repair in good faith. The washing machine was repaired but shook itself to bits again within 8 months. Clear design fault, bought a Bosch instead.
