Interesting tablet and keyboard, but weak CPU apparently struggles with tasks beyond browsing and video playback. Bright IPS at 400 nit but not very sharp apparently. Quite slim tablet too, shame about the CPU if only it was a little more mid range. Hot for price as appears cheapest for this, but not for everyone Review: https://www.techradar.com/uk/reviews/pc-mac/tablets/lenovo-yoga-book-1327416/review

Agree on all points, and want to add probably better to also get one with pen support in my son's case.. May be a factor for other parents to consider when buying thier children a PC for university
One of the most important things when buying a laptop for a Uni student is getting one that's reasonably thin and light. Otherwise, lugging around a hulking laptop along with textbooks all day will drive him/her nuts and they probably won't tell you about it so as not to cause offence! The other 2 things worth looking about for are: - good battery life (desks in libraries, lecture halls aren't necessarily adjacent to power sockets and you can't realistically leave a laptop unattended whilst charging). - a decent keyboard (for obvious reasons!) I'd give this Lenovo a big swerve if you're looking for a laptop for a student.
Thanks for the suggestion, though I'm looking for 15.6 screen ideally. I don't need it till new job in a month or so, I'm just keeping an eye out atm (prime day was annoyingly bad)
Hi, this any good? I think it's perfect for uni. Long battery life and quality IPS display with touch function. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Acer-Spin-5-13-3-Inch-Intel-i3-2GHz-4GB-128GB-Windows-Laptop-Black-/332562572122
Lets just agree to disagree. I have DDR3 in my main PC which I use for gaming still. Yes it is sufficient. However I bought my RAM 4-5 years ago. If I was buying a new laptop now for around £400 I would expect to get DDR4 RAM. An I3 with 4GB RAM and a 500GB normal hdd (not sshd) would be sufficient for what most people will use this laptop for. However the point still stands that it is around £400 and therefore one should expect budget-mid range specs but still the latest generation. 7think7 did not say the technology was useless, that was your own judgement. I agree with them that for this price you should expect DDR4 that is all. Don't be so quick to criticise perfectly valid comments.
Wifi on mine is fine, get around 60 on my laptop and only 25 on my phone. Does your screen have a yellow/warm tint? Also could you check your laptop screen model? You can do this by going into device manager, select monitors, generic pnp monitor, right click properties, select details tab, click property and choose hardware ids from the list. Mine shows as MONITOR\IVO0536, which is an IVO screen. I know some people have the LG screen which is much better and others have the BOE.
Finally got my replacement through. The wifi seems very iffy on it. Speedtest is often around 1m, even though my phone on wifi sat next to it is 20 plus m. Sometimes I can get the laptop over 10m, but the next minute it is back to 1m again. Anyone else noticed? Plenty of stuff on the web, but nothing has worked consistently.
I wasn't happy with the screentone initially, but it's easy enough to fix, right click on the desktop - go to the Intel control panel, sellect display - colour - and adjust to your preference, i bumped up the blue 7 points.
I did and that certainly helped but the fan noise is still there to a degree. I’ve been fairly spoilt as my older Lenovo Ideapad 320 is completely silent in comparison
Did you do all the updates, including BIOS? I didn't think mine was too bad, although I've not really pushed it.
Ive put a few drops on Next Antigua in mine with 400ml water and it smells amazing, I was just a but worried about breathing in the mist from it (horror)
I don't think they are pure essential oils are they? Best check the instructions on the box but think its meant for really concentrated ones - don't think will ruin the diffuser but the smell might not be as strong as its diluted - let us know how you get on seeing as you're doing it anyway :)
mine arrived today, one question....can I add oil from a Next reed diffuser with water to create the mist? Im doing it already but just want confirmation (nerd)
No problem :)
It’s expired sorry
This is proper Android and no Amazon bloat on it
I have the tab & projector version a few years old now but still going strong. These are really good battery is pretty good. The only issue is they do not do software updates. We only just got Andriod 6 on them about a year ago and that was a pretty stock basiv version. So be prepared to be stuck on the last Andriod version.
Superb tablet, great battery life and recently updated to Android 7. Bought this last time around, it came boxed and was unmarked. Doesn't come with a case but they are cheap enough.
I have this tablet and it is a beast. Battery lasts forever, screen is great, superb sound, and really fast. Kickstand is a superb idea and just makes sense. I'd be tempted to get another if I could find a reason
are these any good? say compared to the amazon fire 10HD?
Thanks OP and @carlblakemore and @45ure and @SFL I just bought it for my Mum, using Argos on ebay, with the 10% off code, so got it for £274 (incl shipping) She bought a similar model with about the same specs 2 years ago, so she'll sell the old one, probably for about the same price :)
I suspect it might be a different model ... As I have the Lenovo YOGA 510 too (but the AMD A9 chip version). Though yes it can slow a bit (I have habit at time's of having multiple things open at the same time, etc), but either way, I'd suspect it's be much zippier than the A6 version of the same?. And my one has a much more superior screen on it in every way (the "Full-HD version has IPS screen" you speak of, and not the TN). The touchscreen on mine is very responsive - though ironically, I don't always use the 'touch' feature as much as I blatantly should be (considering ... ) The hinges haven't gone pair shaped yet either (I've had mine for a few Month's shy of 1 Year now?). The battery life on it though, COULD be a bit better though mind ... Mine is the 1TB HDD version too, but I believe the one (same model, etc), that came with SSD, has a better battery life on it though. That's my humble analysis on it anyway ...
Could you link me to that review? Might be a different model, the Full-HD version has IPS screen. This has a TN.
It's been this price for quite long. Just bare in mind the touchscreen adds mechanics to the screen of course and the touch doesn't last very long. It'll break after the one year warranty within a few months after it expires. I work there and trust me, it has happened countless times.
Argos only 299.99 currently
needs expiring - OOS
You're kind of right, the fan at full power is still noisy. But, the updates mean the fan comes on less often, and almost silently for 90% of the time. Now, unless you're really pushing the processor, it's all good. All the wife does is shopping & office, so for us it's completely solved.
I really don't see the value here. Firstly the processor is a dog, I have a HP envy with an i5-7200U and it was so slow I hated it. I am not talking about gaming just general day to day stuff. The i5-8th gen is so much better it's worth the extra. Only a month ago I bought a refurb Dell 7373 with 16gb ram, 512gb ssd, i7-8th gen, USB C laptop charging, FHD Touchscreen etc for £652. Surely it's gotta be worth a little more?
I started looking at high end laptops recently and all of a sudden Macbooks don't seem overpriced at all. Some of these Lenovos and HPs go up to just under 2k :/ Who wants to spend that much on a WIndows virus backdoor? When buying Windows I always buy second hand cheap old laptops on ebay and upgrade them with a 120 GB SSD and replace CD drives (remember them?) with cheap 1 tb HDDs. You can get a lightening fast Windows laptop for a couple of hundred quid that way.. I found MS Surface Laptop is best value among the high end WIndows machine. Lenovo, HP etc have totally lost the plot when it comes to pricing.
Thanks - didn't know that. Really interesting. I was surprised to read that they do not put MIMO wireless cards into many of their expensive laptops which just seems cheap and results in potentially slower connectivity. Well, Lenovo are on the not buying list now. All laptop makes have their negatives but Lenovo's negatives are piling up.
I can get 10% off Lenovo any day of the week through Perkbox.
Any advice if the Ideapad 310 i5 at £314.99 is a good deal, looking for a laptop basic use, mainly browsing documents etc, no gaming. Seems better than the i3 but wondering if I am missing something. Thanks
If you have good RAM and the PC isn't bogged down by badly written apps, then it shouldn't make a difference. Obviously those are big Ifs, but I'm sure he was just trying to be "technically" correct.
Not my experience with 4gb before I upgraded to 8gb under win 10. Having many browser tabs open seems to work best when it can take free ram.
I think they're trying to say that Windows RAM optimisation means more free RAM is automatically a good sign. What's important is that when you need it, the RAM can be easily free'd up.
I don't know if they will keep adding to this they still have over 60 events on there at the moment at 21 locations . When I posted this a week or so ago there were different locations , but once the event has passed they remove it from the list . However they have added new events in the last week , both different activities and locations , so may be worth keeping an eye on if you are interested . My run was well attended , I would estimate around 400 people went , with people still signing up at the event right up to the second it started .
Seems to be the same few locations over and over, nothing remotely close to me. Heat added OP, sure others will find it useful
You just missed it...it was held in Sandwell Valley park either last saturday or the saturday before, a few hours after the parkrun
Oh whoops really did think it was (lol)
Also at Cheetham Hill store.
Have seen these in the Stratford store too
I see that hole needs putting in
I'd bend over backwards for anyone if I could do that. Ya women has a very well shaped bottom. God love her.
I agree , me to i love doing yoga too it will benefits in our daily life in some ways (nerd)
Thanks for sharing! Always fancied trying yoga, heard so many good things about it over the years :)
OOS now...sorry about massive link https://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lenovo-Tab-3-Plus-10-1-Inch-Full-HD-16GB-Android-WiFi-Tablet-Black-/332387599801?rmvSB=true&ul_ref=http%3A%2F%2Frover.ebay.com%2Frover%2F1%2F710-53481-19255-0%2F1%3Fff3%3D4%26pub%3D5574894536%26toolid%3D10001%26campid%3D5336549684%26customid%3D1485832033%26mpre%3Dhttps%253A%252F%252Fwww.ebay.co.uk%252Fitm%252FLenovo-Tab-3-Plus-10-1-Inch-Full-HD-16GB-Android-WiFi-Tablet-Black-%252F332387599801%26srcrot%3D710-53481-19255-0%26rvr_id%3D1552046878671%26rvr_ts%3Dc4ee4c231630ab15a567c29cfffa7605&_mwBanner=1&_rdt=1&ul_noapp=true
This deal is oos btw, pita. Ymmv ttfn.
What about plus model for 107£.refurbished Argos ebay ..
Fire 10 HD(2017) is worth the money, especially when the offer.A decent fast mid range device.
Guess it depends what you need it for then, all the browsers and apps I use work on anything over android 4.
I didn't say it can do more, I said it will become redundant sooner. Apps will no longer run etc... Don't get me wrong it'll be a very good tablet to use but for me personally the outlay at this price point should have a minimum on android 7. You've had 3 years out of yours which is great but it's approaching the end of its lifespan in terms of software compatability which for a new tablet purchase isn't worth it imo. You got yours at the right time & had your money's worth.
Lol I've been using my tab 2 for the past 3 years on lolipop, it's been used intensively daily as a tablet and sat nav, been to about 20 countries (including India) and still going strong. What can android 7 do that can make older models redundant?
Why isn't anyone trying to get tablets back on the market lazy!
Isn't this stuck on old android? The build & performance is supposedly good on these things but they get let down by the lack of OS upgrades. If this was on android 7 then you could argue you'd get a good couple of years out of it but anything lower will be redundant much quicker.
Try this out. 1. Backup stuff you need/want 2. Factory reset 3. Check for update I had 7.1.1 for a long while now.
Mine is brilliant, one of the best tablets around. Good screen, good battery life, fast enough. The form factor is ergonomic for watching movies, typing and reading books.
The one I had wouldn’t. It was stuck on 6 and no amount of manual attempts would budge it. Maybe things have changed in the ten days or so since I returned it.
I have the original version which is still going strong after 3 years. No more updates, but have had no problems at all.
This will update OTA to android version 7.1.1,may need to do a manual update search to trigger update.Great tablet, fairly quick good screen and speakers.Battery ranges from good to great timewise and charges quickly, best sticking to the supplied charger though.Got mine for £200 from Argos using a quidco cashback, bargain.
Depends on personal preference, Nebo from Windows Appstore(and for Android) for £3.50 is a good input method.
Yes, German model is German keys. I have a UK one, when the keyboard is not lit up, I can see the UK keys are pre-set. You can see change the Windows keyboard, but you will still see the pre-set UK keys. A workaround is to use its on screen virtual keyboard or an external keyboard.
I love the innovation but not the real world usability. That Atom chip is woefully underpowered and that keyboard is pretty much useless as a typing device. This device really needs to be around £200 to make it feasible, particularly with the availability of so many Windows laptops at that price. Even though its not a particularly good tablet OS, I'd say Android is probably more suited to this type of device than Windows
Love mine, keyboard does take some getting used to, it's not really for writing an essay, but for a quick email, browsing the net etc, it's great. Although I am on my second as the first one died suddenly after a few months.
German keyboard I assume?
Anyone know how this compares with the Yoga 3 Plus ? I just got one of those from Amazon last week for just over 300 quid and now seeing this with more memory, more storage and a projector for cheaper than I bought by 3 Plus for, I'm seriously considering sending the plus back. Only down side I can see if the difference in CPU's , is the Intel Atom or the Octacore Snapdragon better? Thanks.
Thanks to OP have been looking for a decent tablet for a while just brought this
Installs steam link. Projects on living room wall. 50" gaming.
back at £299.99 for anyone who missed out previously
I have the slightly older version of this tablet - decent speakers but the firmware is still full of bugs and it can slow down quickly...Lenovo just need to invest properly in this...
Can RAM be upgraded to 16Gb?
Combine that with the US discount code (shock) ...
Little heads up on these, they have a well known ghosting issue on the screen. It's not permanent screen burn, but it can be a little annoying if you spend a lot of time on a particular website, or using the same program with static images on. Apart from that, they're great, but can be had for much cheaper.
actually cheaper here £299 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Refurb-Lenovo-ThinkPad-Yoga-12-Intel-Core-i5-5200U-2-2GHz-12-5-FHD-Touchscreen/372185349610?epid=16012533212&hash=item56a7f9bdea:g:FEYAAOSwkV5aT1p5
just ordered, thanks for the heads up heat added!
"Resistance is futile" 8)
Ahh thanks for warning me.
That’s just the red heavy one not the full set
https://www.shop4world.com/sports-and-outdoors/resistance-loop-bands-yoga-pilates-and-rehabilitation-xfit-heavy This one is a full set same website for £2.49 . Haven't tried it with the code for free del yet
Expert Reviews gave it 5 stars but you need to read the review and make your own decision. http://www.expertreviews.co.uk/lenovo/1405290/lenovo-yoga-book-review We have a couple of laptops with Atom processors and Windows 10 and while they aren't going to any good for gaming they are fine for day to day work. Big Windows updates can take a while to install but it's not the end of the world and I just let it get on with the job in its own time. With 4gb of ram, 64gb of storage and a micro sd card slot for additional storage you should be ok for space. The Halo keyboard will be a bit strange to use but overall it is a good effort in providing a different take on what you can achieve with a small netbook. I'll give it some heat.
What's it like for drawing . writing as one of kids likes the idea rather than just a tablet or laptop.
Got one. No it's not.
Intel Atom on Windows 10 is going to be unbearably slow.
I have used these and are very good
These are bloody great to throw in a bag if you're working away & there isn't a gym. Don't forget if you think the most resistant band is too easy you can use different bands together
No these ones. I did get replacement ones but they’re not cheap. I would however very much recommend them. You can buy extra attachments like a pulldown rope on eBay for under a tenner. My bands are from here. http://www.elastitone.com/ (No that’s not an ad. I don’t work for them. But I do use and recommend them)
These specific ones or this type of resistance band in general? I've currently got some bands but was thinking this style may be better for different muscles.
These are not very strong just as an FYI and I had one snap on me away from the clip at one end. I wouldn’t recommend them.
