needs expiring - OOS

You're kind of right, the fan at full power is still noisy. But, the updates mean the fan comes on less often, and almost silently for 90% of the time. Now, unless you're really pushing the processor, it's all good. All the wife does is shopping & office, so for us it's completely solved.

I really don't see the value here. Firstly the processor is a dog, I have a HP envy with an i5-7200U and it was so slow I hated it. I am not talking about gaming just general day to day stuff. The i5-8th gen is so much better it's worth the extra. Only a month ago I bought a refurb Dell 7373 with 16gb ram, 512gb ssd, i7-8th gen, USB C laptop charging, FHD Touchscreen etc for £652. Surely it's gotta be worth a little more?

I started looking at high end laptops recently and all of a sudden Macbooks don't seem overpriced at all. Some of these Lenovos and HPs go up to just under 2k :/ Who wants to spend that much on a WIndows virus backdoor? When buying Windows I always buy second hand cheap old laptops on ebay and upgrade them with a 120 GB SSD and replace CD drives (remember them?) with cheap 1 tb HDDs. You can get a lightening fast Windows laptop for a couple of hundred quid that way.. I found MS Surface Laptop is best value among the high end WIndows machine. Lenovo, HP etc have totally lost the plot when it comes to pricing.

Thanks - didn't know that. Really interesting. I was surprised to read that they do not put MIMO wireless cards into many of their expensive laptops which just seems cheap and results in potentially slower connectivity. Well, Lenovo are on the not buying list now. All laptop makes have their negatives but Lenovo's negatives are piling up.

Guess it depends what you need it for then, all the browsers and apps I use work on anything over android 4.

I didn't say it can do more, I said it will become redundant sooner. Apps will no longer run etc... Don't get me wrong it'll be a very good tablet to use but for me personally the outlay at this price point should have a minimum on android 7. You've had 3 years out of yours which is great but it's approaching the end of its lifespan in terms of software compatability which for a new tablet purchase isn't worth it imo. You got yours at the right time & had your money's worth.

Lol I've been using my tab 2 for the past 3 years on lolipop, it's been used intensively daily as a tablet and sat nav, been to about 20 countries (including India) and still going strong. What can android 7 do that can make older models redundant?

Why isn't anyone trying to get tablets back on the market lazy!

Isn't this stuck on old android? The build & performance is supposedly good on these things but they get let down by the lack of OS upgrades. If this was on android 7 then you could argue you'd get a good couple of years out of it but anything lower will be redundant much quicker.

Try this out. 1. Backup stuff you need/want 2. Factory reset 3. Check for update I had 7.1.1 for a long while now.

Mine is brilliant, one of the best tablets around. Good screen, good battery life, fast enough. The form factor is ergonomic for watching movies, typing and reading books.

The one I had wouldn’t. It was stuck on 6 and no amount of manual attempts would budge it. Maybe things have changed in the ten days or so since I returned it.

I have the original version which is still going strong after 3 years. No more updates, but have had no problems at all.

This will update OTA to android version 7.1.1,may need to do a manual update search to trigger update.Great tablet, fairly quick good screen and speakers.Battery ranges from good to great timewise and charges quickly, best sticking to the supplied charger though.Got mine for £200 from Argos using a quidco cashback, bargain.

Anyone know how this compares with the Yoga 3 Plus ? I just got one of those from Amazon last week for just over 300 quid and now seeing this with more memory, more storage and a projector for cheaper than I bought by 3 Plus for, I'm seriously considering sending the plus back. Only down side I can see if the difference in CPU's , is the Intel Atom or the Octacore Snapdragon better? Thanks.

Little heads up on these, they have a well known ghosting issue on the screen. It's not permanent screen burn, but it can be a little annoying if you spend a lot of time on a particular website, or using the same program with static images on. Apart from that, they're great, but can be had for much cheaper.

Expert Reviews gave it 5 stars but you need to read the review and make your own decision. We have a couple of laptops with Atom processors and Windows 10 and while they aren't going to any good for gaming they are fine for day to day work. Big Windows updates can take a while to install but it's not the end of the world and I just let it get on with the job in its own time. With 4gb of ram, 64gb of storage and a micro sd card slot for additional storage you should be ok for space. The Halo keyboard will be a bit strange to use but overall it is a good effort in providing a different take on what you can achieve with a small netbook. I'll give it some heat.

Yes, its should now be refered to as HD (2010)

Damn, I briefly thought when I saw HD in the description that this was a great deal for the Lenovo Tab 4 8 plus. I keep forgetting that a 1280 x 800 screen resolution is still considered high definition.

I only ever update when it will fix a significant problem. I had to reflash kitkat onto my current S4 as the Lollipop developed a crippling problem where the gps would just drain the battery no matter what. Even a factory reset would not fix it. Also running a nexus 7 (2012) and reading the problems would never update that to lollipop as it seems to just kill it completely. Might eventually flash my S4 with the latest Cyanogen ROM (or with whatever Cyanogen is called now) but don't really see the need. I think I have found one (absolutely terrible) app that I assume won't run because it is on android 4.4

This is a fantastic tablet, recently bought 2 (1 each) and they do everything we need, they are quick, battery life is brilliant and if you just need what a budget tab will do.. Buy one at this price,

I’d rather have the choice of updates than none. There was 2 minor updates in the life of my tablet. I can’t believe that the covered all the necessary security updates.

That doesn't sound good! However did you check how much it is to extend the warranty with Lenovo? In my experience it is usually very reasonable. It should tell you here:

Having owned one I'd agree, it is a premium laptop. However the quality of the components are terrible. I had one for two months and it failed. Simply wouldn't switch on. Motherboard replaced under warranty and it happened again. I've had cheapy £300 laptops last longer.

It is a premium laptop. You do not get this build quality, quality of components etc on a £600 laptop.

Horrorwood Cheaper here, brand new also.

i5, 8GB RAM, 252 SSD. Hmmmmmmmmmmm........................ This price point should be i7, 16GB RAM, 512 SSD. The laptop is expensive for what it is IMPO. This should now be down around £600. Way over-priced.

Agreed. Very impressed with the quality and the digital keyboard works extremely well. I haven't sat drawing for years but have with this and really enjoyed it. I never use the paper for digital capture of notes...too much faff to me and for <£30 you can but a reusable smart note pad that is better for meetings. If you buy a case they all restrict the ability to fold the keyboard all the way round and under the screen. I would like to see someone develop a two part case to help with this. This is a hot price for what i think is a great tablet (over 12 months use from me)

I've got this and it's super fast and has a really nice build quality. Especially good if you're into doing some art....shame I've lost all my teenage artistic talent now (fierce)

Delivered today. Wasn't expecting much, and not dissapointed.

that wasn't my point, although that is another misconception that you need a lot of weak bands, you only need one of the thicker and longer bands which u can then use in many different exercises and can also double up for double the strength something that u cant do with the thin 30 cm ones. e.g. this light band is also £5 and covers almost the entire range of resistances of the thinner bands combined:

ofc they are of different strengths - they are for different exercises small is for exercises of similar power to biceps curls, large for similar to squats etc

given the thin ones are only 30cm in length obviously you cant use them for the same exercises as the other ones, also if you look at the resistances for the bands in kg/lbs, the highest resistance in the pack is like the 'light' in the other set, and the material is super thin in comparison, its a given that they will not last as long. reviews on other sites show the thin type breaking after a few uses.

Discount applied but 0 quid removed so 7 pound incl delivery. Anything i did wrong. Cheers.

Mixed reviews here from fellow contributors. Apologies if it isnt such a bargain. I bought a Viglen Genie (£84) with an i5 processor a couple of months ago and a Lenovo T410 laptop prior to that and an Acer Chromebook(£54) in between. All could be described as old technology but are absolutely perfect. The Viglen needed a new housing and SSD. Im using the T410 (i5) now. Both machines are fast. The Chromebook is surprisingly fast but only does what it says on the packet. Im not a nuclear physicist so I dont need my machines for anything much more than browsing and keeping in touch with the world. They would never do for gaming but at least ive got my hands on some reasonable pieces of kit with i5 processors that I couldnt afford new.

I use these for work (upgrading them soon I think). The different usage modes are good but the screen is a big poor for tablet mode. It's quite a small screen and the processor struggles on excel. we have SSDs in them and well so with a HDD this would be really slow and would need an SSD fitted. From what I know from IT we have problems with them all the time.

After my last brand new Lenovo went bust on me around 6 months in and I tried to get it fixed in China to no avail, well put off this brand. Too expensive to return it to Amazon UK (from China) so left it behind.

It's a known issue apparently that can only be resolved by replacing it with a different panel, which is likely to be costly. COLD for me. Simply not worth the risk. Buy an Acer Swift 1 / 3 / 5 instead.

Would agree and add it's pretty ancient technology.

Yes, unfortunately 1GB ram does not cut the mustard these days, 2Gb minimum IMO. Stutters and freezes will make it a pain to use day to day so it will quickly end up at the back of a drawer. Best saving your money to invest in a device with a longer useful life.

I've run into issues on my Yoga Tab 3 being unable to download iPlayer content for offline viewing. Also heard others struggling with Amazon prime. Great tablet but running out if road for media on a commute.

Ya my partners boy had the smaller older version of this battery was amazing and did him well for ages (prob still would if they would update the software)

Yeah. Got two of these for the kids... great

I prefer the design of these yoga ones with the built in stands and good battery life. And for me the ram is fine for casual internetting...
