KodaBearLycaMobile have a special maintenance tariff which stops you from needing to make a call every 90 days to keep it active. They just hold on to the number and keep it active without any allowance of mins texts and data.
This costs £5 per year and can be ordered by getting a free SIM, topping up £5 credit and then calling *139*9999#
rdh424I'm afraid this is not a good thread. The cheapest deal right now is LycaMobile 1p /month. There's also the very respectable LEBARA 99p sim. As far as I can tell these are two of the best deals in the SIM space right now. Neither are listed here.
I'm not sure why a "deals" megathread is pushing overpriced nonsense from the major networks. People use these forums to, ahem, find deals. The information on here is in fact worse than a quick uswitch or MSE search could yield.
Throw in the local celebrity status of Mr Switch and something smells fishy. Whether this represents a problematic bias (was this thread sponsored?? is MrSwitch a HOTUKDEALS mod???) or just negligence, I don't know. (edited)
jamie15Last I checked the Lebara/Lyca deals are 6 month introductory offers, while they also deserve a mention, they do hike to full price after this time. You either have to port every 6 months or new number every 6 months to maintain price which is not the same as some of the other offers on longer contracts (although of course, RPI ripoff increases do apply).
And there are many reasons why people may choose a major network over the MVNOs, this site is also about finding the best deals for these people too.

Lycamobile and Lebara both have discounts for the first 3-6 months too as an introductory offer. And none of these have any annual price increases either.
There's no reason to pay as much as you do unless you have a good reason to want to stick with the EE Brand directly. And it doesn't sound like you do.

You can buy a one off roaming pass whenever you need it for £10 to use up to 50GB of your UK Allowance and your mins and texts in countries like Australia and the US. If you renew a contract with EE it’s very easy to negotiate free roaming passes as part of your deal going forward too.
O2 will let Volt customers roam in both of these countries up to 25GB of UK allowance at no extra cost.
For the US but not Australia there’s also Three pay as you go which lets you use up to 12GB at no extra cost whatsoever.

David_MorganYPjAssumed Vodafone and lebara would have similar coverage and quality but having recently changed it's clear Vodafone was far better.
Choosing a network seems to be getting more and more complicated. Back to voda or EE I think. Don't trust the MVNOs nowKodaBearNot all MVNOs are created equal.
For example TalkMobile is a MVNO that’s now fully owned by Vodafone themselves. There’s little to no difference between them and Vodafone despite Lebara being poorer in comparison.
Likewise with EE. Some MVNOs like CMLink and 1p Mobile give you the same experience as an EE customer would have. But others like Now Mobile and RWG have lower network priority, don’t allow the use of the 800MHz band 20 frequencies leading to weaker signal, and no VoLTE calling features either.
If you want to really play it safe then EE directly is your best bet though. If you want a fixed monthly allowance of data instead then Lycamobile have their 1p a month SIMs for the first 6 months for 3GB then £4.75 Thereafter.

And finally if you're going to be continuously streaming the footage somewhere then maybe a Smarty SIM which you can get with unlimited data and switch it on/off month by month depending upon your needs. Currently £16 a month unlimited.

RWG is just a brand that sits on top of Now Mobile. Now have been going for over a decade and aren't likely to go anywhere suddenly. I imagine you would just become a customer of their main brand and keep your offer until the end of the annual offer, where you would either have to leave or accept a deal at Now Mobile's prices.

I would trust this one long before those of the providers. There are a couple of rural areas I go to on holiday. Every provider shows there is full access to calls and data on 4G both indoor and outdoor. I know for a fact this is not the case. At a tiny village in North Scotland, a local told me that the only network that works there is Three.
I will be going to 3 very rural areas I have never visited before later this year. According to the links in the OP, they all have full coverage. I had already checked using the Ofcom Checker, and the actual postcodes of where I am going, and I will be lucky if I even get voice calls at 2 of them! (edited)

Or 120GB for same price instead if you are happy with a 12 month agreement too.

cochonHave an old ID package, and in my experience you use the rolled over data first, and lose what's left of that if you don't exhaust it, then you use the current months allowance which will rollover what's left if you don't exhaust that. So in your example, by not using even the monthly allowance (each month), you'll maintain a rolling double bandwidth buffer i.e. 40GB.

Who are you with right now? A 4G SIM Will still work in a 5G Phone. And most networks these days have 5G Included as standard anyways. Are you sure you're no good sticking with what you have if you're happy with it?

I loved EE network but they're so expensive now and quite stingy with allowances. 1p mobile is an EE user at a fraction of the price. Long live the MVNOs.

alexmelTodays deal - EE - 125GB for £15pm, plus kids got £6 for 6GB each. All unlimited including minutes, texts and EE Roaming. Bargain. How I got it.
1) Phoned 150 and asked for PAC. Refused first offer of 125GB for £24 a month. said thanks and bye
2) Responded to survey over SMS and said was unhappy. Not extreme just 3 out of 10 etc etc.
3) phoned again an hour later and used their visual 'who to speak to' guide (you press 1 then use a webpage to determine how to speak to, pretty good actually). Got a £20 for 100GB deal. Not great but happy.
4) mystery EE team called me and gave me even better above deal. Magic and very weird. Love EE.
