Yes, it is a sticker. :o I'll just see how he gets on with the markings on the mat. I've spent enough 😁
That is all top notch stuff - the oche that is included though is probably (95% sure) a sticker. For the ultimate set up the physical oche in my view is great - otherwise you are constantly checking where your toes are - here you just gently slide up to the oche and off you go. By no means essential - just really nice (in my view).
I bought the Target mat that was posted on here a few days ago from Amazon at £21.70 I think it was. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08P23X9XT?smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE And this is the dartboard + surround I ordered from Argos... another deal on here which I believe comes with an oche. argos.co.uk/product/7495759
Two more things i would recommend (should your son deserve it). One is a darts matt if you have a wooden floor and the best bit to go with it is a physical barrier as an oche (e.g WINMAU Sabre Oche). With those four things - my lockdown was made bearable. I even hit a 180 a month (from 2 in my entire life).
Ahhh, I see one of your links is for one of those surrounds😁
I'm a bit restricted for space on what will be the left hand side of the board so instead of a cabinet do you think a branded rubber surround would be ok? I'd like a cabinet though for keeping score but I'm restricted for where he wants it.
@1616french Yes you can, the light is very lightweight and is magnetic so sticks to the dartboard. It works lovely with the surround too
So around about £130 for a more than decent set up? With that dartboard surround you posted a link to..can you still fit the light to that? Thanks for the advice btw (y)
Hi buddy. I would buy a winmau blade 5 and a Target Corona light surround. The Blade 5 has the metal wires sunken into the board and they are angled to reduce bounce outs and give a larger target area to hit. The light surround is hands down the best darts purchase I have ever made! Bobby George once said " You can't hit, what you can't see" and he's right. The light illuminates the board with zero shadows even when you have one or two darts in the board. It's epic! If you don't have a dartboard surround yet, here is a package from Argos. https://www.argos.co.uk/product/7495759?clickPR=plp:10:17 Obviously the darts are rubbish so get some proper ones. The light is here https://www.argos.co.uk/product/7523858?clickPR=plp:12:17 I hope this sets you in a helpful direction to encourage your son. Cheers

No. They're brass darts which will be big and chunky for their weight. You need to be looking at tungsten which is a higher density metal than brass. Brass darts are only good for pubs to keep behind the bar so it doesn't matter if they go missing as they're only cheap.
Are these any good https://www.amazon.co.uk/Target-Darts-Brass-Taylor-Legends/dp/B08TRM5DD9/ref=mp_s_a_1_17?dchild=1&keywords=darts&qid=1622210862&sr=8-17
Can we please vote tactically to get this heat at 180?!
Bought this a month or so back. The board is great but the cabinet chips very easily. That said if my lad could only hit the board that would help. Probably going to get one of the fancy surrounds to replace this one as looks tatty already.
I'm thinking about buying one to see if a lot of practice would make me any better as I had only played before in the pub when drunk (lol)
I just did a 99 dart finish (lol) (lol)
Are you getting close yet?
To be fair if you are a darts player playing pub or club darts (league), you will know which pubs do and don't have boards. The fact that for the average Joe walking in off the street it feels like there aren't many with boards, suggests you frequent maybe foody type pubs and are not selecting a pub because of the darts. Also, I suppose the area and popularity in said area will come into play as well. But darts is definitely booming with all the money Barry Hearn is pumping into it!!
