Apple Store iPhone Fast Charging USB C to Lightning Cable - £16.80 (For military personal with Defence Discount only)

Oh no I totally agree with you there, I've posted deals on some expensive items and got cold votes for the whole "who would spend that much money etc..." a deal is a deal after all, doesn't matter who thinks the absolute price is over the top, the discount % should be the thing that's judged but Apple products tend to be quite erm... divisive

You’ve linked a £2 cable which is no longer for sale (lol) I promise you there are no third party sellers of these cables, do your research or be stuck with 10w speeds It’s like everyone’s too lazy to research this

I’m not trying to be a ball bag... But if you look at the product you just linked you’ll notice that in the description “Note 2” states “This USB 2.0 USB C to lightning cable can not support fast charging for iPhone”. I.e. this will not let the full wattage required through for fast charging, and is only charging with 10w (which is still very good compared to the 5w standard charger). Please be aware, there are NO third party suppliers of the fast charging USB C to lightning cable. The current third party USB C to Lightning cables use the slower standard usb 2 speed, only with a USB C enclosure. Apple have said they will open the tech up to third parties midway through next year.

I bought this third party USB C to lightning cable a year ago and have had no problems with it. It was £8 and there’s bound to be cheaper ones if you look.

USB to Micro USB Cable with Lightning Adapter - 1m £1.97 @ Curry’s
Found 15th SepFound 15th Sep
Seems a good price for what can essentially be a lightning cable.

Lightning connectors are pretty flimsy in general. The only I have that's stood the test if time is a short one I got with a powerbank

How fast was he going?

Yeah have them in poundland but my little ones managed to brake the lightning connector within a week.

Ordered one from Chester confirmed order sent me an email. Just called in to pay and collect and they don’t have any in stock. I was passing so never went out of my way!!! I really dislike Curry’s (devil)

Sure they are. And how did Apple confirm they are genuine?

Not that it matters but the cables arrived and they are genuine, even confirmed by Apple! Oh well I’m happy (cheeky)

Syncwire cables, amazing and durable. Similar price, warranty is fantastic

They’re not genuine cables. That won’t help.

iPhone lightning cable, 1m long £1 in store Co-Op
Found 9th MayFound 9th May

£2 in my local

Confirmed, works on iPhone 8 and 5s both with IOS11, works both ways around and charges as fast as an OEM cable...also feels fairly well made...gonna go back and stock up :-p

Like you said, any bricks and mortar store selling the cables is pretty decent for a quid and knowing they’ll probably replace it if it goes wrong. I would never buy from those useless phone shops with overpriced grade C tat phones, tons of cheap cases and cables (I refuse to go in there) but the Poundland ones are good, they have a few styles including braided ones, flat ones (these seem to be the best for durability) and never had an issue with ‘accessory not supported’. I don’t make a habit of using third party cables but in a pinch don’t mind. Also the new thing on eBay is people selling ‘genuine cables’ that aren’t. There’s a spate of cables that look genuine and have the right print and design but are slightly off, very hard to tell but it’s the texture of the cable coating (feel rougher) and stiffness of the wire (less flexible) that gives it away - best to be safe. Anyway I’d trust a Poundland or Co-op cable over those, at least they don’t pretend to be originals.

Honestly, have never seen lightning cables at a quid in any shops! I’d have added heat to any deal seen....I lay down a challenge to y’all

If someone did post a deal for Poundland cables it would go ice cold. Most people know they sell them and have done since you could get 30pin ones

Got an older version of this and has lasted over 2 years with only negligible reduction in capacity. Very pleased although this seems a steep price given some of the others posted recently.

I've only ever bought Anker batteries, but I'd be willing to give this one a go

i've used the 26,000 dual charge of these for the last two years. In terms of bang per buck in power output I am pretty sure you will find better. But thats not the point with these, they hold their charge for literally months. even with the basic dual charge one I have, I can charge the 26,000 from scratch to full in 8 hours ( using decent charger and cables) which is invaluable for travelling and overnight charging. Cannot recommend enough.

It's potato quality even by last generations standards and doesn't even transmit audio, so whoever would use this in 2018 (nobody) would have to use a separate jack to jack cable for sound too. I get what you are saying but you're kidding yourself if you think somebody would use this nowadays.

I'd say it was more useful in 2018, as people are more likely to have VGA ports free on their older displays. What are such people meant to do? Spend 3 times as much on a smart device to cast to which hogs an HDMI port instead?

Is there a use for this product in 2018?

Really? Every single time? We get it. Some people think Apple things are overly expensive. Some people think they’re extremely good quality and worth every penny. Neither is totally right. Can we get past that and not have to say the same inane things on every Apple product that’s posted? It doesn’t make you clever or in the know. ‘I’m not stupid me! I can see the marketing for what it is, not like those sheeple’. It doesn’t make you better than people that do buy Apple products - because it’s just a choice: like weetabix or cornflakes. What it does do though, is it makes you boring.

Usually this is the case but at the deal price, you get a genuine item for the price of a non genuine item. A bargain to me.

Lightning to jack adaptor for iOS 10.2 £1.56 @ Gearbest

Yeah true, I've just bought three of them, different ones: they are crap compared to original ones and only good to give away or in case of emergency. They do work on iOS11 though

No, there’s a lot of these cheapie Chinese copies around (plenty of them on eBay) that warn they only work up to iOS 10., they don’t have the correct chip for authentication so won’t work with iOS 11. Total waste of money, even if it is less than £2.

Well, as long as Apple accepts to replace the cable everytime it breaks its much easier to go for the official solution

Anyone has a replacement for the official jack lightning for iOS11+ ?

Lol I know don’t think people know what this adapter is for or just people winding up

Had so many of these muti type cables last a couple months and they start playing up

This is just plain dangerous, picture shows it charging multiple devices, people will try to charge multiple devices, you put a high enough input and it will do that before burning in flames It is a total of 3A for multiple outputs and no USB C resister or any safety feature like a fuse unless you count the whole wire and your home (sarcasm)

Thanks for that info and helpfully supplying the link to the better product......oh wait. (flirt) For the detractors wanting the moon on a stick this sort of thing is perfect for leaving in my van so if I give a mate a lift I'll have a cable that matches their phone. I don't think anyone is suggesting it's a great way to charge 3 devices at once.

i can't see how that is safe.. Maybe as a back up travel one i guess it would be OK...

It says ‘genuine’ so you can get a refund if it’s not. As the cables don’t really do a lot, I think you’re probably ok. Anyway if you don’t need genuine, you can get them on eBay as low as £2 (which also suggests that there are no clever electronics in the lead itself). But the whole thing is a farce - to have the charger you need, you would either own a MacBook or have spent £29 on the USB-C block so the least they could do is not charge you a stupid pricefor the cable to be able to utilise this. It’s a shame the EU was so wet and pathetic in making Apple standardise - we’ve had nearly 10 years of most phones accepting the standard micro USB and it’s been a godsend.

I'm sure that is 100% fake :) Yeah apple are definitely money hungry idiots though!

The fact that we even need to consider paying Apple for this sickens me. They use a standard like USB-C and still find a way to rip off customers with an overpriced cable. And people complained at Lightning cables costing £15... Anyway if you are that impatient that you absolutely need slightly faster charging, then I stumbled on this:

I'm not fussed about hukd earning money , I just hate these Chinese sites being over promoted on here I've been stung twice for the record and never again for me , your one of the lucky ones Well , if I can say buying cheap crap that ends up in the recycling being lucky Sigh

Thanks OP

Sigh. People complaining about hukd getting paid by these Chinese sites to promote..... Well. Ads pay. HUKD have bills too etc.... And for the record, I'm a regular gearbest crap-buyer, and even with their cheapest delivery option I'm yet to have issues...... I agree it's risky which is why I don't ever spend greatly, but yh. People need to relax I think.....

Although, this is my first post (I have been using HotUkDeals for years and realized I should also contribute) but I have been purchasing in-expensive stuffs from Banggoods, gearbeast or Zapals and never had any issues. I am yet to buy an expensive item though.

Yeah it's not a reflection on you at all. I mean that Amazon shouldn't be letting it slip through the net. To a regular normal shopper they'd probably not be able to tell which is why I think it's unfair of Amazon to let it happen. Sometimes it's not even that it's a bad product it might be a brilliant product that the makers want to put some reviews behind to give it some momentum. Which isn't ethical. Sometimes you can tell by noticing that all the reviews are very detailed and have a similar structure and use the same keywords. I noticed it recently for a none Amazon Bluetooth speaker with Alexa in. All the reviews used the same keywords which was very suspicious.

Like this.

I never knew. I thought it's like eBay or Aliexpress. You only leave a review after you got the product.

Amazon need to do a wayyyy better job of vetting Thier products and sellers. Some of the reviews are so bogus and it's not even that hard to tell.
