A tablet PC that’s cheaper than others in its series, the Surface Pro 6 has been given a more substantial battery and a sleek new topcoat. Aside from that, it is very similar to the 2017 Surface Pro with the same dimensions and vivid 12.3in screen. Yeah the official Microsoft refurb devices are meant to be surprisingly good. Only ever read good things about them online. Some people will also be eligible for student/teacher discount too.

The Surface Pro keyboard isn't usable in the first place so its absence is no problem. The stupid amount of disk space taken up by Windows 10 and its updates means that you'll be lucky to have 40GB of usable space left on this Surface Pro. With the new iPad Pro around the corner and unless you really want a Windows touchscreen device, I'm not sure now is the best time to buy this.

Absolutely agree if you're never going to use a keyboard / type cover get an iPad. However if you're looking to get an iPad with a Magic keyboard I'd definitely get this with a type cover instead. Once you get bigger than a 11 inch screen having an touch screen interface that was originally designed for a 3.5 inch phone comes with it's own sense of compromises especially for productivity. If you are going to use a keyboard and mouse Windows generally works better and you can get a reasonably decent tablet experience from a lot of apps even without a keyboard.

ixdi

Type cover deals with all that. Absolutely love mine.

hassan1994

Don’t want to cause any arguments and this is just my opinion but to me the tablet experience on windows is very second class in terms of apps and UI. You’ll need the keyboard and mouse. If you’re looking for a real tablet experience first, go for an iPad

any decent prices on the surface pro 7? or can anyone tell me the difference between 6 and 7?

tjc2005

Different operating systems. Not really comparable imo. I have owned a tabs4 and now own a surface pro 6. Obviously you can do a lot more on this.

I have this exact model and use it when I go to conferences. I have managed to eke out using it to take notes and do a bit of web surfing from 8am to 5pm, with brightness turned down. I bought an iPad Pro to use because of its better battery life, but that was such an exercise in frustration, I went back to the Surface. It is the most useful computer I have ever had. When a surface comes out with Intel Tiger Lake, it will should offer a significant battery life improvement over the Pro 6

Pokkai

I'd wait for BF, last year the SP7 version of this spec was £800 with a typecover.

I got a SH Microsoft one from CEX for £30. Comes with a 2 year warranty. Get the 2017 model - it's higher resolution, recognises when it's being tilted and attaches to the side of the Surface Pro with a powerful magnet. Older versions will work (except the original Surface Pro 1/2 pen) but are lower resolution, don't have the tilt function and may not contain a magnet.

MrSmallBear

The surface pros arrived the next day. I'm really impressed. They look great and they're a pleasure to use. I won't replace my gaming laptop with one, but my ipad is now dead to me. This is going to be my daily use laptop and it fits the bill as a laptop and tablet. Full windows 10 when in tablet form is amazing. Can't recommend this deal enough.

MrSmallBear

I’ve ordered 2. One for me and one for the Mrs as she’ll only nick mine if I don’t. Really good price considering you’ll pay these prices and more on eBay for a ‘refurbished’ one that someone has simply reformatted. This deal is great as it’s properly refurbished by Microsoft and comes with a years warranty. Surprised this isn’t hotter.

thunderdog

I've caved. Was holding out for a good deal on an SP7 but went for this. Received today, brown box with retail packaging well protected. The retail packaging has Certified Refurbished written on it but everything inside looks as good as new. Took a little while to download and install all the necessary windows updates using my phone as a hot-spot while at work but it's now purring along like a kitten. Not done any diagnostics on it as of yet, not my area of expertise. Managed to pick up a type cover (£58 from Ebay) and bought a 3rd party surface pen equivalent (~£28 @ Amazon) and a hard case (~£19 @ Amazon). Happy so far. Trying to decide whether to flog my Lenovo T450 and get another one to save the arguments my kids are going to have when it comes to doing homework. (skeptical)

mrparm

Has anyone ordered this? What did you receive? Many Thanks

They had the surface pro (6 then 7) on sale during the last 2 (maybe 3?) Black Fridays, Was like £750? For the 128gb with keyboard. The 256gb was also on discount. Might get similar discount this year as well

Mr_Chondo

I have a surface 2017 with 4GB Ram and i3 processor. I use this surface for teams meetings, office, and a bit of browsing. Am I likely to notice a big difference in performance if i get this surface 6?

Does anyone know why they don't make an LTE version? I'd be a lot more likely to buy one if they weren't just WiFi.
