I have a bed with wooden slats- now had it for 20 years.
I've had this bed for a couple of months now..I really like it. Its really sturdy, doesn't creak, and looks great. The sprung slats on the Simba are laminated and closely spaced- I don't see these cracking easily . If they were flat solid pine I'd have a concern - they're not. The kingsize bed base I have is coupled up with an Emma mattress and fits perfectly.
Is that from experience Gary? I'm wondering if it's a simba-specific thing or if you mean all beds of this design have a short life?
It's not about the actual frame of the bed - it's about the slats. The fact that listing doesn't show the slats shows how great that base is going to be! Just look at the ikea website - you can chose 3 different slats for both bed frames, increasing in price. I can't comment on whether the Simba one is worth it but you can't compare it with a frame that just looks similar in colour and material. It's like saying one red car is the same as another.
