Thank youuu

Macca-J

I bought this for my daughter last week....... the mattresses i got with the bed are 80 x 200cm, in theory you could use your 90 x 190cm mattresses, they would be short in total lenght, and the width would be 10cm to big, but as the bed pulls out you could just pull it out alittle accomodate the extra 10cm width, the only problem would be if you wanted to pull it out and make a double as the total width would be 180 and the two 80cm mattresses side by side would be 160. so as a daybed you could use your mattresses ,but as a pull out double they would not fit

pikachukopokemon

I need advice please - I have a day bed bought from ebay a year ago. I would love to buy this but wanted to re-use the two single mattresses I have (each 90x190cm). Is there away I can achieve this? one of them is rarely used so I don't want to spend almost £400 for this bed and ikea mattresses :( Thanks

7ommy

Their return policy is no quibble 365 days as long as in original packaging. Bar code never changes so if you e bought in last few months and can bare the time in store and have the spare cash buy a new one take it straight to customer services hand over old receipt for refund

doormanjoel

I've just been on the phone to customer services and got the same response I then asked to speak to there supervisor to double check and again same response , they repeated only in the US stores😡👎

Great tip - thanks!

supermann

Don't touch this with a bargepole! I bought the same bed from the same seller and it was complete crap. It was a few years ago though mind so maybe they've got better but honestly, save yourself the hassle. My hand was covered in blisters trying to put it together too and I've put hundreds of flatpack bits of furniture together in my time. This one was by far the worst. I ended up binning the damn thing after about a years use and before then one of the legs snapped and I was sleeping on a slope. Not easy when you're trying to put your cape on.

Jacobtutu

If you’re on a budget I’d recommend anything metal because it’s durable with slats that screw into place so no chance of it moving and metal bed frames are relatively cheap. If you want to give this a go though then make your payment via PayPal and that way you’ll be refunded your return shipping costs if you decide it’s not good enough want to send it back

mancdaz

I've had this exact bed for around 6 months. The legs are still perfectly intact, are not sharp-edged, and I have never stubbed my toe. The faux leather on the head end is completely fine, no sign of flaking whatsoever. The slats that the mattress lies on have never been an issue, never moved, never made a sound. I paid around £60 (king size) for it as a temporary solution and have been very pleasantly surprised by how decent it is. The bed is actually very cleverly designed. Everything comes inside the headboard, which has a zip to access the bits and then close after you have everything out. This means part of the reason that it's cheap (aside from the fact that, yes, it's made from cheap stuff) is that delivery (and transit from wherever it's made) costs will be relatively lower than they might be for other beds not designed in this way. All in all, 12 out of 10.

Some_Geezer

That's cheating. :)

Have these bunks. Very sturdy, and yes will take regular mattresses Absolute pain to construct though.

Good price for the bunks but delivery for me last year for my bed was about £35.00.

They take a 200cm mattress. Regular ones are only 190cm. They’ll obviously take them, but you’ll have a gap.

I was having a joke , but in reality B+Q even cut 15 pieces for free to size(would get it elsewhere) the headboard is a bit of cheap t+g the rest is a smooth planed wood and anything cheap for the lats cls is fine, making it is so easy. Cordless drill, few screws, couple of drill bits and very few holes to even drill. It is not as difficult as it may appear and will last a whole lot longer too. Have a nice day.

rossington

You've kind of realised my point but missed it as well. As you say if you wanted to make a bed from your own tree you'd need a chainsaw, other tools and it would be a lot more work. The same applies to getting wood from a timber yard, you're not going to be build something similar in half an hour with an allen key and a screwdriver. Lots of work involved if you're going to build it yourself, measurements for cutting, pilot holes, alignment, wood Finishing? I'm not saying you're wrong by stating that it 'could' be done cheaper by buying the wood but it's not really comparable as it wouldn't be a case of "just screw it together" as you suggest.

thomasleep

Even better, but then you would need to buy a chainsaw etc, would rather have the timeber yard cut it and just screw it together :)

apur32

Free :D

rossington

Why buy the wood when you could just grow your own tree then cut it down and save even more (annoyed)

Agreed I've taken numerous items back due to damage and there's never been so much as a quibble.

ses6jwg

We got a similar looking one from asda online King was about 85 quid. It's been fine and as said doesn't take up loads of space

shakerstevens

IKEA can be hit and miss with customer service, I agree. First thing to make sure you do is sign up for an IKEA family card, not only does this give benefits like free coffee/tea on mid-week visits but most importantly it gives you free damage insurance on all IKEA products, so if you don't assemble it correctly or even drop it in the carpark before you get home and it smashes to pieces you will be covered. Secondly their customer service in store is great if you can physically take it back. I appreciate your sofa wouldn't be easy to take back just like a large storage unit I couldn't take back - luckily I wasn't in a rush and it took them weeks to respond via email, but they did deliver me a brand new replacement without argument, they took the old one away too. I think it was almost 2 months from reporting the issue to getting a replacement so thats shocking but on the other hand the no questions asked replacement and having it delivered was fine. I would have been ok with them giving me a voucher to go and collect a new one from store (was about £50 worth so not expensive, and it would have cost them more to deliver my new one and take away the old one) the only thing I wasn't prepared to do was take the old one back as it was bigger than my car could handle once assembled, for the value I was half expecting them to ask me to destroy after I provided the evidence of a failure in the structure of it. As I say instore customer service is great (although avoid busy times of the day!)

lovefreebieslady

also be careful with IKEA,as they are not customers friendly, had sofa bought from Ikea after 6 months it broke waited for few months till they sent technician to see what was the problem, finally he came said we need couple of parts will let Ikea know,a week after got letter from Ikea that they won' t be helping with our problem as we didn't build it properly ,sorry we are not professionals plus technician didn't even mentioned that, now in search of new sofa ,and ikea one wasn't cheap at all . Where other retailers like wayfair care a lot ,we had broken coffee table leg afte two years, and they refunded me fully for it. If you can avoid ikea ,cheap and rubbish!

shakerstevens

Remember IKEA is more of a shop and collect retailer. They've only recently started doing home deliveries and its based on your postcode distance from store (they pick stock from your local store usually rather than a central warehouse) so you will need to add to your basket and then add your postcode and it will calculate home delivery. If you don't have a big enough vehicle to collect, IKEA now also offer the option to rent a van from store - this is useful if you are collecting multiple items and not just a bed. Lastly the offer of £80 is store specific to the Manchester store and is not available for delivery at that price anyway, its collection only. Hope that helps :)

This (y)

Clappy.Hands

I've had this bed for a couple of months now..I really like it. Its really sturdy, doesn't creak, and looks great. The sprung slats on the Simba are laminated and closely spaced- I don't see these cracking easily . If they were flat solid pine I'd have a concern - they're not. The kingsize bed base I have is coupled up with an Emma mattress and fits perfectly.

duncancosgrove

Is that from experience Gary? I'm wondering if it's a simba-specific thing or if you mean all beds of this design have a short life?

Mike626

It's not about the actual frame of the bed - it's about the slats. The fact that listing doesn't show the slats shows how great that base is going to be! Just look at the ikea website - you can chose 3 different slats for both bed frames, increasing in price. I can't comment on whether the Simba one is worth it but you can't compare it with a frame that just looks similar in colour and material. It's like saying one red car is the same as another.
