I just do wish they would allow stereo pairing of the 20s or even the 30s, like sonos does with the 5. Would sound incredible.

Sonos seem to be good and best brand / marketing (bit like apple) but I wouldn't swap our bose. We have the soundtouch 10 and 20. If they have a deal on the 20s I'd say go for those as the sound is a big improvement but we only have one Soundtouch 10 so maybe have two is compatible

Does anyone know whether they come as two individual units or a pack of two as I'm going to keep one and give the other one as a gift? Thanks in advance

That's strange. I've got 4 dotted around the house and never lost pairings for the stereo pair or the pre programmed settings when running the updates. I'd definitely recommend them, especially at this price!

It is a great price for these. The problem is that they keep updating the software which means you have to re-pair/connect and all settings are lost. I’ve 2 at home and 6 at work and it gets tedious after a while. Don’t get me wrong I love Bose and have a few of their products, but surely an update should be able to retain some custom settings.

I feel like asking them to price match with themselves (lol) . But, yes, good idea, I might give that a go (y) .

You can ask JL to price match with Argos.

The black one is £249 on JL for some reason. Would have preferred JL as I have some vouchers, but not white unfortunately. Great if you want white though.

If you don’t have any other ST speakers probably better off spending the £249 on the home speaker 300 about to be released. The ST is a bit of a dieing range right now.

Thanks! I’ll look out for the 300/500

Not going to happen. I spoke to bose two weeks ago who said they are still working on it for the ST range, they’ve been saying that for about 2 years. Rumours are the processors can’t even support it. They are now actively working on the home range (home 300 and home 500) which has airplay 2 support.

Can any owners comment on Airplay support? I saw it promised in an update, but unsure if it’s an official feature :)

Sorry, I will expire it in this case. I've tried the code on my previous deal, Vizio and it worked, I've assumed it will work on this one too.

Yeah it’s been out of stock for days there

Black version is £209 at John Lewis (2 year Guarantee):

If you’re a new investor into Bose though I would go with the home range, despite obviously being more expensive. The home 300 is coming out next week (in America) and the home 500 sounds pretty good. Support for this SoundTouch is slowly dropping with things that were promised years ago not appearing such as airplay 2. Don’t get me wrong I’m invested in the SoundTouch range and if you don’t need airplay 2, and understand the SoundTouch app might not get much love but are intending to play via Spotify connect etc then this is a good speaker.

Yep £220 at all the main players.

Sorry. No idea. Maybe a sale item? Amazon use a lot of third party sellers these days, so could be anything. No idea who you're buying from most of the time. That's one of the many reasons I try not to use amazon.

Erm........ good to know... I think. A big red label you say?

Hello, I bought one Soundtouch in Amazon and the box come with a big red label. What that label with a code bar means. Is the second collumn that I buy and only this one had that label. Thanks. Regards

Surely Soundtouch is on the way out now. The home range with the home speaker 500 ( and the 300 around the corner) with Alexa and GA and airplay 2 support. Airplay 2 support for the sound touch range has been promised for too long and not come. I’ve got a few of these ST10s and they sound good though.

Yep quoted wrong post

I’m guessing that’s an out of context quote about Sonos not having Bluetooth. This Bose most definitely does.

I’ve been speaking to Bose about this for at least a year and to date no Airplay has come and they just keep saying to wait so I wouldn’t hold my breath. If you buy the previous series (the II) then I believe they had airplay as standard but not airplay 2.

I had to search around for this, but there’s Airplay support for this Bose if that’s your kind of thing. Lossless audio over a WiFi network, apparently AirPlay 2 support has been promised by Bose also. With an extra app, AirPlay can be enabled on android phones too. Not sure how easy this is for day to day use, though ;) Heat (y)

as others have said no Bluetooth - I was also concerned if no wifi then no Radio access (I think).

The Bose speakers and soundtouch app have occasional updates, if you've not set it to auto update you may need to manually check. A lot of the time these updates are for stability and may solve the issues you're having. Unfortunately im not familiar with virgin, i know they don't require a phone line so i cant suggest that you try another phone socket, but id be surprised if the engineer didn't allow enough extra cable for router mobility...

I had probs with sonos dropping out. Internet connection probs, it was having interference, fixed it by changing the channel that sonos works on. Use an android phone to check what other things in your house are using what channels and set the sonos to something different

Tbh how would I know? The router is placed where virgin installed it. I’m not sure what equipment would interfere but it’s not what I expected from the bose set-up. Out of date software??

No don’t think so, lots of threads asking this on the internet, no solutions

Is there anyway to stop the aux from sleeping after 30 mins or so so I can plug in an echo dot? My soundtouch 10 sleeps after 30 mins of no aux activity so when I then speak to the dot no sound comes out. (Yes I know I can Bluetooth etc but it has to be the aux line in for the dot to work in sync with multiroom).

When the guy I quoted said "This is the best Bluetooth speaker on the market fullstop !", I was simply telling him it wasn't true, so pipe down.

So although the Series II says aux and Wi-fi, it does airplay too. And for Bluetooth either use a Series III, Soundtouch app via Wi-fi or link via another Bluetooth Enabled one

Series II has airplay and Wi-fi for soundtouch app for multi-room. Series III has Bluetooth and Wi-fi for Soundtouch app and multi-room. So if you are in the Apple environment, airplay works well for a quick stream. If you have a series II, and also have something with Bluetooth like a Soundtouch 10 what you can do is Bluetooth > Soundtouch 10 > multi-room play via Wi-fi > Soundtouch 30 series II. It’s what we do and works great. Saved money on getting the Series III when there was no discounts about.

You're best bet is to go in store and see if you can have a listen, the advantage of that setup is it has a sub woofer in with the price, but depends on how much you value bass. The Bose will give you some bass but not as heavy as a separate sub (but then you also need to find somewhere for the sun to go, plus the extra wiring).

I'm new to Audio but really want a good Audio setup for my living room. Can anyone help me choose between this Bose and these Audio bundle? Thanks in advance

I've got both, surround in the living room and Bose soundbar in the bedroom where a speaker / amp setup wouldn't be practical. Decent surround will set you back £1000+. I've not got the sub for the Bose as don't really need it in the bedroom so £549 is good. But yeah, if I could I'd have a surround setup in every room (y)

Gotta be purely for the convenience of not running wires around the room and I can understand that to some degree.... but if I was to spend this money on a sound upgrade I'd go for surround speakers and mess about with the wires.

Really don't understand why people would pay this for a soundbar over a pretty good surround sound system, but I seem to be in the minority. You can't beat that extra immersive experience for me

Guys, Not sure if this is best price ? Have been looking for some decent SoundBar.. its £599.00 everywhere else ( JL, Currys, etc..) PRC is doing at £499.00 including delivery.

I went for the yamaha ysp2700 for £570 after checking a few out. Came with a soundbar and subwoofer whereas subwoofer is extra with bose. Honestly its the best spund ive heard and the sound bouncing off the walls is immense. Truly feels lile a 5.1 system. Check out reviews aswell canylt go wrong.

If this is £599 at other stores it is indeed a bargain, those voting cold are just Bose haters who cannot understand the high price and are happy with there Bush sound bar. Each to there own. Hot.

Hot - Bose

It was probably the Solo 5 but would recommend against that as it isn't a sound bar really.. it's just marketed as a way of beefing up your TV sound (No surround sound, no subwoofer, no extensability)

Thanks op just purchased this in black. Going to just use it with my echo dot. I'm miles behind on the latest tech. Hope Ive made the right choice..

I have a sonos play 5 for the lounge and was waiting for ages for a decent priced play 1for the bedroom. Long story short, got a sound touch 10 for £150 for the bedroom and I wouldn't change my mind. For our needs, this is better than I'd hoped. Better connectivity than play 1, gets plenty loud, Spotify drop outs are once in a blue moon (compared to Sonos ). Really want another, so you've just helped me out! Thanks op

I couldn't choose between these and Sonos 1 and luckily found them in Argos for £180 for a twin pack. (about a year ago) so that helped make up my mind. I've now got 4. Two in the living room to form a stereo pair and one each in the kitchen and dining room. I'm more than happy with them and think they sound great.

There is only one full range driver. No Tweeter.

Got a couple of these now, they're solid. App support and sound quality is great, really isn' much in it between this and the Sonos. People on HUKD will lead you to believe so though. This is a decent price, although Amazon do occasionally bundle them in with Echo Dots for £150 if you want to hold out for that. Also this has Bluetooth which is handy if taking it somewhere with poor or non-existent WiFi.

It's back! Worthy competition to Sonos play 1?

Researched this outputs mono rather then stereo so you need at least 2

Ah this or Sonos I like the fact it has presets and Bluetooth

I think comparing things to hugs is a baseline everyone can related to!

Sound like a "wine taster" lol

Ecosystem aside, I think this is a good match if not better sonically that the Sonos. The Play:1, while impressive for the size, does feel constrained while I think the Bose sound signature is ideal for this kind of speaker - warm and a bit fluffy but nice to cuddle even though it might not be the most detailed cuddle in the world!

Eyyy? I think your comment is misdirected. I have absolutely no preference of one OS to another. All I try to do is stop people spreading misinformation about products because of their ‘fanboyism’ which then results in people buying products not suited to them.

Is this going anywhere? Will we finally find out which is the one true OS to rule them all? ... Or are we just tittle tattelling (yes...tittle tattelling...I said it...go ahead...ban me) about personal preference again? I don't wish to come over all "moral high ground" or anything know....

Then why are you so misinformed? I'm an android and iOS user and people definitely don't pick the iPhone for its looks, the iPhone hasn't been the 'best looking' phone for quite a while. The iPhone X may have helped them in that regard but personally I think the S8+ is the best looking. Also, if you use iOS then why are you insisting people only buy iOS devices for their looks? Doesn't that lump you into the same boat?

Incorrect. I use Android, iOS and Windows phone.
