Use Code GSG52 and the price comes down to £24.28 that’s 21p cheaper(party) you’ll have to collect it though but I find that better than having to stay in all day for a delivery or having it left on the doorstep.

Would this be suitable for a mini jcw f56? Has the 2 litre BMW lump

Yea it's a bit of a minefield, which oil? Which tyres?

According to ECP with their current discount code its about £1 more than this deal, if people prefer ECP

Don’t take it on the train with me, but others have advised in the mean time. Thank you

Check your manual, simple.

Halfords have a tablet in-store at the engine oils, stick in your licence plate number and it'll tell you what your car needs. I got this one last week as it was the best deal they had but I had around 6/7 options to choose from.

Oil advice on 5w 30... My car needs A3 or above, so am I correct in thinking that as this is 5w30 A5 this will be ok? Thanks

Yeah this is a good price. My new Honda likes this oil I think it’s for the newer engines

Why is this getting cold? Heat added from me.

I think the reduction was actually from £44. Other Edge products are included. Just bought 1 litre of Edge 0w40 for a tenner which isn't that bad. OP - Don't be discouraged by the chilly reception (y)

To a degree yes... our company ran a nissan diesel... often went double its service interval... and did 70k on orig fuel filter.... got caned once it was warm and never missed a beat when sold at 170k... oil and water levels always checked.... not sure what makes a bad engine but i've never had one.... used all sorts of oil....

Get down Asda....find any old oil that's got the yellow sale sticker on it, whack it in and off you go.

Yes, £26.99. Costco deal works out identical to this if you are going off the litre price!

Surely this 5litre is different to the 4l that was on offer earlier at Costco for approx £21.58? ** Called Castrol and it’s exactly the same, just that you can’t buy Professional from retail stores n it’s usually sold to dealers...

You seriously think I take any notice of a review like that ;) audi a3, obviously a tinted gent, most likely poured the oil in the washer bottle ;)

Hi there guys if any of you have vw group vehicles. Try as they have a sale on oil too. A wee bit more dearer. But it's vw spec oil.

Beat me to it everyone say it's always this cheap but (C4) LL04 spec is always full price

I was about to say the same! Castrol Edge is the stuff I'd use.

This oil wasn't LL04 spec until recently.. not sure what's changed. Previously it was only Castrol Edge that met LL04 spec.

Their high ZDDP products would be unnecessary in my nineties engines I'd say, I'll maybe try Castrol oils again in future for my boosted cars; the Edge Ti I put in her 1.2L Micra after a flush (controversial?) has made it feel as great as a 1.2L non turbo can XD

Sorry I've not got a Doctorate in Advanced Lubricant Technology. Try going back to bed and getting out again this time on the right side

If you had been paying attention, you would have read that virtually nothing that goes into engine oil is actually manufactured here. It's the same for your TV, your phone, your laptop, your kitchen appliances & endless other stuff. Having said that, the two biggest GLOBAL (note that word!) suppliers of engine oil, Shell & Castrol, have a strong connection to the UK, make pots of money & pay UK taxes. And they manage to do this without making stuff in this insignificant, manufacturing pygmy of an island. I'm sorry if this doesn't accord to your revolutionary, post-truth, narrow minded political world view but it's how it is. Get over it & stop holding the rest of us back!

Is this oil UK produced ?

Amsoil are really well known in the US. If I remember correctly, it was founded in the '60s by a USAF pilot who decided to put military grade aircraft lubricant oil in his automobile. Unsurprisingly, the PAO-based oil was infinitely better than the really grotty mineral oils that were the norm back then (especially in their nut-numbing winters). Whilst Amsoil were the first to actually do it, it was Mobil (with Mobil 1) who capitalised on the full synthetic idea & grew the market. I never had any direct dealings with Amsoil but this is what I've gleaned over the years. They're primarily a small, niche blender which buys in its raw materials & tech. Their products aren't necessarily 'approved' in the way most lubes are. For example they have oils that contain high levels of ZDDP which fall foul of the ILSAC/API specs. However their retail advertising presence in the US is HUGE relative to their minnow status! Just look at what they do on YouTube. Are their oils any good? Yes. Would they do any harm? Probably not but with unapproved products, you never can tell. Would I believe the hype? Absolutely not! Would I buy an Amsoil oil? At those prices?? Never in a million years!

Great cars (y) . The oil pump I've been using is a Sealey TP696 the 5.5 litre version, hope that helps. It wasn't cheap but I use it about 7 times a year so I think it's paid for itself in saved services etc. My Octavia is a taxi so I need to change oil a lot.

I've got an Octavia and have just had the pleasure of changing the oil again yesterday (along with the damn oil sensor), so this is fresh in my mind! I'm going to get one of the oil extractors too - which one do you have? Unfortunately on my partner's Leon the oil filter is underneath so that thing will still need jacking up.

I bought an oil pump extractor, just shove it into the dipstick hole and pump it out while it's still lukewarm. My engine on the Octavia has one of those underside covers, a real pain in the butt to remove/replace. Luckily with the VW/Seat/Skoda Tsi engines the oil filter is on the top of the engine so it's a really simple job, the wife's Skoda Yeti is the same too. I change every 7500 miles on my Octavia taxi, some would call that overkill but oil changes are cheaper than engine changes and besides its turbocharged and a timing chain rather than belt so clean oil is even more important..

Yes Mann is OEM. I buy Mann or Mahle. I would’ve changed it myself but I don’t have the necessary jacks etc. What do you use to lift the car? P.S. GSF are usually better than ECP on price I find.

I change it myself (learnt from YouTube tutorials for my particular engine) I use Mann filters from Euro Car Parts (you can type in your registration and get correct filters etc) , always 50% offers there.

This is NOT a good price. Buy a 4L and decant into 500ml pop bottles if you want easy storage, and a single bottle ain't good enough. Cheaper than this.

Expert advice on shell product no doubt.

True didn't think of that. Thought he was giving expert advice :/

Guys, it's £14 and it's still on.

But a shell employee would say that wouldn't they? Just 1 point, the ultraclean refers to the oil cleaning your engine, not actually the oil being ultra clean. Your oil filter catches all the crap regardless of performance, clogged filter dirty oil.

Used to use this all the time until someone at shell said its not good and only shell ones are good. So now using shell oil

Had this in my Fiat 500L Multijet 1.3 CF5 (C2) grade with Castrol and surprisingly they removed the Fiat specification in March 2019 and my engine has been working considerably louder with this. Initially for the first 8 months it is like stock, but during the winter I have never heard this engine knock so loud. I immediately moved to liqui moly and it's running much smoother - oh and it's a fuel economy oil and I have noticed better mpg in town, a lot better. This oil is crap but that's just my opinion on a fiat (annoyed) Probably the reason why they removed the spec. P.S. it's always been £23 in Asda

fair play, i dont think its a prime day deal i didnt put that on, those grades are actually £16

Decent price but not a great Prime Day deal, as it's the same price in Asda, and they offer different grades for different cars

is it cheaper elsewhere or just not a good oil?
