They will take most knocks and clashes no problem, you'll still have to reposition them during the game but definitely will be inferior vs a regular shinny in a leg breaking scenario, how often that occurs I guess depends on the level you're playing at, generally.
These are extremely comfortable in comparison to regular shin pads or shin pads in sleeves. If you are a quick player or someone who bombs up and down the wing they are perfect, they feel like you're playing without. However, I definitely wouldn't wear them if you're getting stuck into tackles frequently, it's not worth the trade off comfort and speed vs protection.
These are great for kids aged 6 to around 10. My boy wore them for that time. This season he has decided that hard shinnys are what he's wearing. Whilst these do take some of the impact of a collision to shins you will still feel them. My boy felt that that with more kids wearing metal studs he wanted something more protective. These will simply not stop a leg breaker, no matter what the technology says. I've had him kick me whilst I've held them to my shins. You feel it.
