My friend said this is better than just wireless plug or dongle. Is that true?
Its for my son's pro gaming. Wi fi downstairs so need something for his room.
Any recommrndations please?
Had issues with these. Had then connected to use the same SSID as my router but it would never connect to strongest signal. Even after resetting to their own SSID devices would connect to the unit in the other room not the one right next to it. Got sick of it all in the end and splashed out on the bt whole home mesh WiFi system. Expensive but it's been great so far. Intelligently swaps devices to the strongest point in the mesh. Obviously a different price range to this though.

Yeh even the Hub 3 is a pain. Took my Xbox home for Xmas and tried hooking it up to my parents BT and wouldnt accept connection unless I had fiddled with the DMZ and port forward settings.

A wifi extender thing, it has lots of antennae. looks cute as a button, and has a really long title on Amazon.
I’d much rather a powerline one, rather than repeating a degrading signal.
A second dedicate router may be a better choice.
This is pretty expensive.

Can you port an existing number with 3 to this deal?

Yes. Ask for your PAC from existing provider. Get this deal, they give you a sim with its own number. Activate sim and go online chat and supply your PAC with the mobile number you want to port. Takes about 24hrs to transfer and that's it. Remember and make sure your mobile is unlocked for 3 network. Vodafone took 30 minutes to unlock free for me.

I have taken these on holiday for that very reason. In the past I have taken a full-blown router, but nowadays I take this. Also to holiday apartments that have internet, but limited connections.

The range extenders that create a seperate SSID are a waste of time IMO as you ahve to manually switch them unless the signal is lost completely.

You can set them up with the same SSID and wifi channel, but they must slightly overlap with your router or other extender to wifi roam on your device. I ended up plugging a spare router into it as an access point less of a headache than the powerline plugs built in range extender.

How do I unlock this for the three network? I bought it not even knowing … How do I unlock this for the three network? I bought it not even knowing these devices are locked to a network.

Pop a sim that is not from three in your unit e.g. a current 3G SIM with data support if you can use it then you are fine the unit is unlocked. If the unit reports a SIM or CARRIER Lock the unit is locked. Remember that some companies prevent you using their SIMs in a MyFi. I used an Ovivo Data SIM, MAKE SURE THAT IF YOUR UNIT ONLY TAKES FULL SIZE SIM CARD AND IS SLOT LOADING YUO ONLY USE FULL SIZE SIMS AS THE ADAPTORS POP OUT AND JAM THE SLOT LOADING SYSTEM SO BADLY YOU CANNOT USE YOUR UNIT AGAIN - IM NOT KIDDING THERE ARE LOADS OF SLOT LOADING UNIT ON EBAY WITH THIS PROBLEM AND THEY CANNOT BE FIXED! The adapters are fine for unit where the sim slides in and is not a slot loading type where you depress the SIM to remove it from the slot.

Ebay sellers have the code. To unlock

1. Find a place on ebay that does this model / check feedback etc.
2. The price for these is 99p and you should get the code in an hour or less
3. When you purchase provide your IMEI for the unit (not your phone the MyFi)
4.. Power up the unit with the non three SIM and when prompted at the unlock screen enter the code provided by the ebay seller.

Many of these units allow you to unlock via the web page so look for messages on the screen (e.g LOCKED) then login to the admins screen to enter the unlock code, there is normally an unlock menu that appears when the foregin SIM is inserted.

If you are using a table to login to the unit make sure you set it to use DESKTOP mode as these units send a very simple version of the interface to phones and tablets. I selected "request desktop page" option in Chrome on Android to see the unlock screen.

Make sure you

1. Write down your IMEI carefully and type it correctly when sending details / entering
2.Many units only allow a few (3 or 4) attempts at an unlock after this they need a costly factory unlock so make sure the IMEI you send is right and the code you enter is correct take your time and type carefully.
How do I unlock this for the three network? I bought it not even knowing these devices are locked to a network.

Still a good deal as they are still £125 on amazon.
Hi - Today I've bought a Huawei E5776 from PC World for £29.99 plus signing up for the 30 day notice pay monthly account (3gb) at £15.99 a month. I have bought an unlock code off eEbay for 99p and done that (eventually!) and am now using it with my '3' contract sim and it is much faster than my other MIFI dongle.

I've also rung EE and given the requisite 30 days notice to cancel the contract as I don't need it (I only wanted the MIFI!) and the chap confirmed that there is nothing more to pay and that the MIFI is mine regardless but he thought I would still be charged for the 1st month and that the 3gb will remain 'available' until the 30 days termination period is over.

I would love to hear if anyone else who's done this has definitely been charged the £15.99 monthly rental for the 1st month or not .... if yes, then £44.98 is still a good price for this as they retail at around £100 normally, if not then at £29.99 I will be an extremely happy bunny!!!
they turned mine off at 3gb.
do let me know as i have a 50mb left and 6 days left.

just need a cheap sim to stick in now..
