Plug it in, connect your WiFi to it and go to (if setting up 1st time, the website loads up itself). Then you just follow on-screen instruction - scan for networks, choose yours, change extended WiFi name and set password (you can keep router password as well). Voilà, all done.

+1 I have this and it’s a one button push on the extender and another on your router to connect. It even has its own app so you can customise it. You can even turn the lights out on it. I have it on my landing and works great as a night light. Never dropped connection once and had it about a year.

Got one and works well. Use it to bridge gap from router to garden by plugging in end of house.

Both choose one or the other I have it and it works fine but if you have a rubbish unreliable router that drops signal even when your near it don’t bother with this

Have this and it’s terrible. Loses connection all the time for some reason. Have reset it to factory settings too but still doesn’t help. Looking into mesh WiFi now or the Uniquiti APs.

Bought these. Great item. Plug and play. No set up. Worked a treat

Hmm - quite disappointed in the performance. I knew not to reasonably expect 100+Mb/s (Using the ethernet port). I have no idea what your '600 Mbps' is supposed to represent when the box claims 100Mb/s. In my flat for two sockets next to each other I could only get aroud ~36Mb/s, slower in real world terms than my Wi-fi. These were supposed to replace running ethernet across my floor, but this just won't do. Yes you can run off the list of environmental issues that can affect speeds but I still feel duped.

Done, doesn't matter anyway I don't think as it's cold.

I think people would be interested in both :). There's enough space to mention it in the title.

One years warranty, good as new when I had them, still had the cellophane on it. Thought HUKD would be more interested in the price than if it's new or just reboxed. But yes it is refurbished.

Apologies everyone. I think the order finished the day after I purchased it. Just received mine, and would recommend it, even at £39.99.

Unfortunately no good as a nas for a pc only allows copying files no playback. Good for tablets android etc in a hotel but that's it. For a cheap Nas at home pi is the best cheap solution

Three has the worst UK coverage of any network

Called three... Ultd data 600 mins 24 pm as an existing payg customer

Unfortunately they have quite a few customers on the 15 unlimited grandfathered. They have history of sending out letters if you take the Michael with the limit. I am on 64gb with EE for 13.50 and would even go 100 for 15 but they really hard to negotiate three I try like 50 times a year.

My friend said this is better than just wireless plug or dongle. Is that true? Its for my son's pro gaming. Wi fi downstairs so need something for his room. Any recommrndations please?

Had issues with these. Had then connected to use the same SSID as my router but it would never connect to strongest signal. Even after resetting to their own SSID devices would connect to the unit in the other room not the one right next to it. Got sick of it all in the end and splashed out on the bt whole home mesh WiFi system. Expensive but it's been great so far. Intelligently swaps devices to the strongest point in the mesh. Obviously a different price range to this though.

Yeh even the Hub 3 is a pain. Took my Xbox home for Xmas and tried hooking it up to my parents BT and wouldnt accept connection unless I had fiddled with the DMZ and port forward settings. My virgin at home, a doddle.

I bought their wifi boosters a while back and its utterly useless! I would never buy or use any of their products again. Ive even had the bthub routers and they were awful apart from the hub3 which worked better than the newer ones at least.

Ironic that they're BT, yet their broadband and WiFi is probably THE worst on the market anyway.

TP-Link RE650 AC2600 Universal Dual Band Range Extender, Broadband/Wi-Fi Extender, Wi-Fi Booster/Hotspot 1 Gigabit Port and 4 External Antennae, AP Mode, UK Plug - £79.99 Amazon Deal of the Day
Found 26th Dec 2017Found 26th Dec 2017
A wifi extender thing, it has lots of antennae. looks cute as a button, and has a really long title on Amazon.

I’d much rather a powerline one, rather than repeating a degrading signal.

A second dedicate router may be a better choice. This is pretty expensive.

I feel justly reprimanded. Thanks.

Is there a nice dual band one cheaper than this. Thanks. around 20-30 range. cheers

You mean copy 'n' paste, you don't cut marketing drivel sadly. But I know what you mean! Looks a useful if ugly and expensive thing, sort of thing I find never quite works as I hoped.

Yes. Ask for your PAC from existing provider. Get this deal, they give you a sim with its own number. Activate sim and go online chat and supply your PAC with the mobile number you want to port. Takes about 24hrs to transfer and that's it. Remember and make sure your mobile is unlocked for 3 network. Vodafone took 30 minutes to unlock free for me.

Voted hot. These are pretty handy and work well although I only really used it a couple of times. Been trying to sell mine on ebay for the last couple of weeks with no luck lol.

Exactly the case. I have taken these on holiday for that very reason. In the past I have taken a full-blown router, but nowadays I take this. Also to holiday apartments that have internet, but limited connections. At home, I have a BT TV box connected to the internet via one, although you don't get full functionality when streaming via WiFi.

Second post at this link suggests it could:

I assume you could use it to turn a hotel wired connection into a wireless one for your devices (laptop, mobile etc). Also the reverse (as I believe you're suggesting) to utilise the hotel wireless on a device that needs a wired connection (old laptop, Raspberry Pi maybe?)

I don't believe so, but I am fairly sure you can use a USB 3G/4G modem with the SIM card in.

Any suggestions where to buy just the receiver? I've bought the kit, but now I want another receiver in another room but can't seem to find them on their own

You can set them up with the same SSID and wifi channel, but they must slightly overlap with your router or other extender to wifi roam on your device. I ended up plugging a spare router into it as an access point less of a headache than the powerline plugs built in range extender.

Guys, it is good enough and compatible with Sky Q router? On speaking to Sky last night, they asked me to pay for the SKYQ booster which is £40+

That's out of stock isn't it?

Hi there, sorry how does this work? I'm basically going to New York for 4 nights and 5 days and we are going to buy a world sim router but need a data SIM card. Will this work? Thanks

It's what I have done as my 12 month contract finishes 18/9 and asked the number goes to pay as you go, so ordered the 1 month term of this deal and will port my number which will be payg across to this new sim

I'm already with 3 ... contract well expired and can cancel at months notice .... If I manage to cancel can I port my number to new contract ?

There was a mobilephonesdirect 3 deal recently which had 8gb at £7 / 30gb £11 a month after cashback redemption. Literally just received the SIM. Would check that thread before ordering this. See here

these are better than the push in sim type as you can use any sim with adaptor etc ie nano, micro etc so not limiting your choices,

Works nicely with the EE payg data sim deals on here, if you don't want to pay for a data contact every month. I got an older model for £60 from a previous deal.

This feature is built into the majority of high end smartphones, hence why I think a lot of people are voting cold as it's an additional cost for no added functionality.

Thanks Susie. It looks like the majority doesn't think it's a deal (despite this being the cheapest it's ever been). I've seen one of these in use, at a conference I was at last week in Las Vegas, and it's frankly superb.

I'll like it - according to the camels this is the lowest it has been.

I still don't care. Doesn't bother me one jot if they know where I've been or what I've been doing. The cameras all over the streets and roads already do that. Provided I've not been anywhere I'd want to hide, I don't see the problem.

wow, I knew they logged people coming and going, but I didn't realise they could pinpoint your position. The company that appeared in the TV program was this: this explains why iPhones with iOS8 now use a random MAC address untill they are connected to the wifi access point.

It's not about spamming, it's about knowing who you are, where you are, and what you do. The worrying thing is, alot of them have no other use for it other than sell it, yet they hold onto it.

A fair point - but they're getting information about my movements I really don't care about them having. If they care to spam the email address I've given them, they're very welcome to. ;)
