Maybe it was a mis-priced or local store only. It was reduced to 38 a few weeks before Xmas after I brought a bottle for £37 around Oct. Either way, I love this and always look out for offers on it which are rare. Great price and at sub 30 I would have emptied the shelves. 😁

Nice knowledge signalling. You didn't actually answer the question though. …Nice knowledge signalling. You didn't actually answer the question though. If I extrapolate from what you said, you think the Japanese would spell it the way Americans spell it. Except Americans spell it "whiskey", and you can see right there in the picture that the Japanese spell it "whisky". Japanese whisky is modelled on Scotch, so they use the Scottish spelling.sam_of_london:Negative . Scottish whiskey is much better than this .Ah, here's good ol' Sam to crap on another post about Japanese whisky. If only he'd ever tried any of it.

Knowledge signalling? Is that a thing? The false-economy phrase "virtue signalling" is bad enough as it is.

There wasn't any need to be so snarky towards OP either way.

Although yes, sam_of_london is either ignorant, a childish troll or both.
sam_of_london9th Feb

Negative . Scottish whiskey is much better than this expensive item made …Negative . Scottish whiskey is much better than this expensive item made abroad.

One of the most clueless posts from some one that regularly trolls this forum with inaccurate information. A friend of mine who knows more than most of us about whisky (since I'm talking about Japanese whisky this is the correct spelling) had me try some Japanese whisky and said it's absolutely fabulous. I have to agree it was without doubt some of the best whisky I had ever tried and believe me when a good friend owns a whisky shop you definitely try them out. Nikka, Yamazaki, Hibiki you'll be lucky to be able to afford to try some of their best in your lifetime sam because you're ignorant of the facts that these are world class. You'll never ever try a 30 year old Hibiki, there's nothing like it, it's whisky on another level.

One thing sam_of_london does is post nonsense and never reply to anyone that counters his nonsense, absolutel proof he's a childish troll. I feel sorry for other members of this forum who have to put up with his nonsense day in and day out.

Japanese whisky is fantastic and has been around since 1870, so they have 138 years of experience over you sam, that's for damn certain.

Joolt, Whisky deals just don't get much traction on here. I guess Single Malts are relatively expensive and the majority of users on here wouldn't purchase it.

Theres an amazing deal at M&S with Glen Scotia Double Cask. It's down to £25.60 which is a great price on it's own, but i bought some for friends and rang through 5 bottles, the post on here told me to do it in single transactions and each time I got a £5 off £30 spend voucher. Added on some shopping and technically I got my two bottles at £20.60 or I got my shopping for free. Either way cracking deal and only got about 150 heat last time i looked.

Got a full refund, was told to "dispose" of the bottle of sake and they sent me the correct bottle of bourbon free of charge.

My favourite one was when I ordered Sailor Jerrys, it was to replace a bottle i'd got from a friend and they liked the label, so found it on Amazon with the nice label and ordered it.

When it arrived it was the standard label not the one pictured, I messaged Amazon and they apologised and sent me out a replacement bottle. The replacement bottle also had the old label. I told them again and they issued me a refund and told me to keep both bottles!

Shelf label in store says resduced twice from £100 down to £60
I added heat because I think it's still a deal, but I think they are trying it on to suggest it ever sold at that price. It was released just before Xmas at £70 in my local store and they had to reduce it to £60 within a few weeks, presumably as it wasn't selling.
I can't see them selling many bottles of a 21 year old from an unknown distillery at £70 let alone £100, but for £60 to me it was worth trying. It's a shame they can't be more transparent on the origin of the spirit.

I bought a bottle of this over Christmas from the co-op, I hadn't heard of it before so didn't have high expectations given that there's no age stated, so is likely a blend of mostly younger malts. It's pretty nice stuff - smooth with no unpleasant aftertaste, goes down a treat. It won't challenge Glenlivet 12, Aberlour 12 or Balvenie, but then it's a lot cheaper. Definitely one of the nicest whiskies you can get for £20. Would prefer this to Glenlivet Founder's Reserve personally.
Edited by: "BigAde" 12th Jan
Triple distilled, american oak, 40% sounds familiar only the auchentoshen is aged 10 years, still takes like vodka.
lucas7 h, 31 m ago

Never heard of glen Keith, is it exclusive to co op?

Glen Keith's output is mostly used for blended whisky, such as Chivas Regal, and is sometimes available from independent bottlers. Distilleries like this have begun to release their own, normally NAS, single malts due to the ever growing popularity of single malts.
lucas5 h, 54 m ago

Never heard of glen Keith, is it exclusive to co op?

From The Whisky Exchange site: A comparatively modern distillery, Glen Keith (also known as Glen Keith-Glenlivet and Glenkeith) was established in Keith, Banffshire in 1957 by Chivas Brothers, a subsidiary of Seagram, with construction finishing in 1960. Glen Keith originally practised triple-distillation, which was very unusual for a Scotch whisky, and even more so for a Speyside.

You're confusing it with Bowmore No.1 which is a newer NAS version …You're confusing it with Bowmore No.1 which is a newer NAS version designed to replace the 12yr in Supermarkets where they can regularly sell it at £25. Also as prevoiusly stated the equally NAS Bowmore Legend has been £25 for a good run recently as well. This is the 12yr Old which is much higher regarded than the Legend/No.1 and is a really lovely dram. Amazon do drop it to £25 a few times per year (and it was £25 as a Deal of the Day sale twice during the Black Friday period), but I would advise anyone thinking of sampling a "smoky" whisky to jump on this because it's sweet and mellow smoke-wise and thus perfect for Whisky newbies looking to expand their experience.
