I just bought it and thought it was a decent deal. The digital format has gone back up in price to £17.99 from PSN. Metacritic average score: 71/100 Please note: a previous post… Read more

Aha, you've probably played the previous Mass effect games haha. Well, I never got to play those, so I had no high expectations for this one. But either way, I would finished the game if it wouldn't be so glitchy. I think because so many people hated the game the developers gave up patching it =the game is a big mess and failure.

SimyJo

Always check reviews first before buying. Otherwise they can be this broken:

SimyJo

Their 'patches' resolved some of the animation issues by removing the animations entirely. That's not a patch, that's a joke of development quality.

jaydeeuk1

Agree, patches may have saved the animation and graphical glitches, but can't solve some of the worst writing in a video game since house of the dead on the Wii. And that was supposed to be naff on purpose. Shame, as playing as female Shepard in the previous games was one of the best gaming experiences I've had, superb writing and voice acting.

Dave_Wills

I think most of us have given this runt more than enough time and patience, it needs to be put out of its misery. Bioware have washed the stink off their hands...why get yours dirty. Its just a shallow and hideous plod if you have ever attempted to play the game...there are better ways to spend your time and money.

LA Noire at £15 is a good buy. Ordered also

appolospb

Great game just try getting past the shack level (chapter 10 I think) when you have played the game on nightmare level until that point and have little ammo, impossible.

moneybanks14

I left it :(

Saw that Friday morning, assumed it'd have gone by now.

Guys I've just come from the store in Batley to pick up my last guardian copy.. They have the walking dead a new frontier on PS4 for £5 on the shelf.

Dont know if they're bigging this up a bit, calling it the 'Deluxe' Edition. But thought might help someone.
TobiRIP

This although I prefer ME1 to ME3, Only a complete numpty would skip the original trilogy and play this, ME2 is just incredible

MUFCristiano

Have they been remastered? If not, the graphics are not pleasuring.

imdave

Is the 10 hour demo still active? I imagine that would help those on the fence. This "Deluxe Recruit Edition" seems to only include 2 multiplayer packs, whereas the original "Deluxe" release included a soundtrack and other stuff? Might be better to just get the standard release.

Junaid_Chaudhry

At this price I'm very tempted. Mind you, I really disliked the original trilogy. Well 2, and 3. It was just so clunky to me. If I wasn't a fan of 2, and just want a more streamlined experience. Is this any good? Maybe I'll enjoy the fresh start more. How are the planets.. That was a big gripe with the original: they were so small.

timblake9

why would you skip ME2 & ME3 but play this? 2 and 3 are some of the best games ever. You don't even really need to play 1, you can pick everything up from 2. They're literally 2 of the best games ever released

It will stay it’s tied your ea/psn not game version

DistortedVision

I have the discs for Battlefield 1 and Titanfall 2. I want to buy the Battlefield Revolution 1 & Titanfall 2 Ultimate bundle so I don't have to insert the discs. Is there any way to keep my player profile with BF1 that has my score, rank etc?

James_vOK

Already got Titanfall 2, not sure if it is worth trading it into cex and getting this, would rather have a physical copy of both games since it is such a big file size.

Revive

Hopefully this will get more people on the Titanfall two. Such a great game!

kencool

I afraid not. Is 11.99 for ps plus subscribers only?

Most of them, in fact. But the deals on Battlefield 1 are okay (albeit a repeat of a recent EA flash sale).

Looked at some prices and it seems as thinking some of these games have been cheaper on the UK store.

I love this game. Yes, some of the cut scenes are dreadful but you have a large, expansive world to explore and some geuinely engaging side quests. Planets look great in 4k too. Ignore the bad press, based on initial impressions, and make up your own mind on this now patched game.

Possibly. But the statement remains true. I’ve racked my brains trying to think of a worse AAA game in the last ten years and all I can come up with is Star Wars Battlefront but id still rather play that then ME Andromeda every day of the week!

dave859

That's a bit harsh, it's poor compared to the other three but it's not a bad game. Think the problem was they couldn't better them and fans laid into this game because they had set the bar so high. Most of the hate comes from people that clocked 100s of hours into the previous games and knew it was sub standard in comparison. It still scores 71/100 on metacritic so can't be hated by everyone.

jp0202

It's not bad at all. I played all previous games and enjoyed them all, as well as this one, immensely. Why are people talking rubbish about this game is beyond me.

mark9000

The Worst AAA title for at least a decade.

Snarf_Dude

For just over a tenner guys and girls this is a no brainer. Even if this isn't up to the splendor of ME2 for this price it's a good deal.

I agree that ME 2 and 3 where a massive improvement on the original one. I can't remember which is the best one. I would also agree that Andromeda (after all the patches/updates) isn't as bad as people often say.

Is it just me or do others spend awhile designing the perfect looking Avatar in these games, only to be left with something that looks like it's been hit with an Ugly stick?

I got as far as the end of Eos and gave up. It seemed like it was 10000 miles wide but an inch thick.

gk_rob

Dreadful game. Loved the original trilogy. EA got their hands on it and destroyed it.

Does this game have a seaosn pass?

It has to be funny? Because it's not.

Games still £20 in store locally

diddycartman7

Sorry didn't look.

BlueLiving

I'm a massive fan of the original trilogy, to the point where I'd say it's my favourite series, and yeah this game doesn't live up to that. But saying that I still find it to be an incredibly enjoyable game on it's own. The gameplay is rock solid, the story and exploration top notch and a bunch of fantastic characters. It's not the 10/10 it could have been, but it's a solid 9 for me.

Didn't realize people on this site were masochists.... (flirt) look at the heat.

OP, also found out Amazon US is selling the Diecast version (not RC one) for £43. Might be a help to anyone looking to save a bit if they don't want the RC version (I want the RC :D ) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MREH4H2/

RickDoyle

I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the game. I'm hoping for a direct sequel. I enjoyed the first trilogy, but I think this has got room to grow into a decent second one.

benrobertsno1

The Goliath was laughable, tbf even in the link you provided the 'promo' it's just naff. To call it a ce because it has a rubbish rc car shaped like the nomad is no excuse. At 60 quid it's laughable.

I did too was a great way to try a bunch of games id never otherwise bother with. I'd spend like £20 and have over 100 items. I had a week where I got about 80 Parcels. They're just greedy now. Think they've changed the price 3x now

Another good money saving tip is to buy some things brand new on release (or very shortly after as a lot of good deals come just after) - complete it quickly and sell on for the same price, or at a tiny loss. This only works if you have a guaranteed good amount of time to play, and only with shorter games. But it does work. For example, I platinumed Until Dawn in a weekend and sold on for a profit. Uncharted in a week, sold on for a penny less. Horizon Zero Dawn in 2 weeks, broke even. Just some recent examples. But Battlefront 2 has taken me nearly 4 months to plat, so it didn't work for that for example - and I might want to keep it for the future anyway with it being multiplayer focused. But yes, only works on games you can complete quick, you don't want to keep, or won't interest after the initial completion.

spaceinvader

I buy everything gaming related used and I've started shopping outside of ebay more recently, I can't believe the prices CEX get away with charging compared to Grainger, I don't even bother checking their site now, not combining postage is a joke. I hope their greed drives them out of business.

EQL

I must say, I liked the days of buying 50 20p CDs and paying £2.50 postage - for a total of £12.50 for 50 CDs (and they came from all over the country)... Maybe they should be able to reimburse part of the £1.50 item postage when two or more items come from one location.

Krooner

I get what you're saying. And you're right, I hadn't considered me wanting, say, 15 sticks of RAM and having to pay on each one. I would prefer a per-order charge. Absolutely. But in this instance. £3.50 for a copy of Mass Effect on the Wii U, It doesn't feel extortionate. In fact I'd imagine it was traders abuse of the 'Per order' system that forced the change.

reddragon105

Yeah, I came here to comment on that as well. It's really outdated terminology, and in fact isn't really something that exists anymore now that everything uses digital video and HD standards. Saying that a game is the 'NTSC' version might just confuse people. So, to clarify - PAL and NTSC are analogue TV standards - different methods of encoding video for broadcasting television. They were different in terms of how many lines they used (analogue equivalent of resolution) and their frames per second. Different countries used different standards (e.g. UK used PAL, USA used NTSC), and obviously analogue TVs had to match the standard of the broadcast signal in the country they were sold in, so you got PAL TVs in the UK and NTSC TVs in the USA. When games consoles came along, they too used analogue signals, and so you would get PAL or NTSC consoles depending on which country you were in. But everything is digital these days and so the PAL and NTSC standards are no longer used. We don't have 625 lines and 25fps, or 525 lines and 29.97fps, anymore - we have 1920x1080 and 60fps (although other frame and refresh rates are part of the HDTV standard too). Digital TVs can have analogue tuners capable of receiving NTSC and PAL signals, but they will be converted to digital before they are displayed. Certainly as far as modern games consoles are concerned there is no such thing as PAL and NTSC anymore because they aren't capable of analogue output - the PS4 certainly isn't. So it used to be that a game sold in the USA would be an NTSC version because that's the TV standard they used. You could try playing a PAL game on an NTSC console or vice versa and either it wouldn't work at all due to region locking (which is a whole different thing done for different reasons) or it would work but the picture would be messed up somehow (I remember importing NTSC PSX games, using a cheat cartridge to bypass the region lock, but then they were stretched and in black and white if I used an RGB cable - buying a scart cable meant I could see them in colour, but still stretched). But now that we all use the same digital TV standards, that's not an issue - and region locking isn't as common either. So this isn't the NTSC version, it's just the American version. The only difference is the ratings board they use, so you get an ESRB age rating on there instead of PEGI.

spellcheck

Definitely not worth a tenner (annoyed) I wouldn’t pay any more than £5 for this and even then it isn’t a particularly exciting instalment of the ME series. Take that tenner, go to G2A or another site and see all the great games you can pick up for a smidgem of the price.

jc1970

Well worth a tenner

Markusdragon

Blimey, I haven't heard anyone call it an NTSC version in a very long time.

Golukey13

This game isn't as bad as everyone makes out! Everyone likes to jump on the bandwagon. Definitely worth it at this price.
