YouFibre Broadband

Posted 26th Oct 2023
Had a salesman come round, offered to price match our current price and as they only do 150mbps or 1gb speeds as we were 250mbps they couple up our speed to 1gb for the same price. Only downside is they don’t do tv packages, but we don’t have one anyways.

May be worth calling and asking for this if you’re interested.

Seems like a cracking deal with very good reviews.

Yeah I made the mistake of telling them I was still in my cooling off period with Virgin. So seemed reluctant to offer that to me haha.

    Never going back to 37meg

Been all good so far? Any issues to report at all? Not technical, so no idea about the different ‘systems’ etc.

We FINALLY had better Internet up in the deep depths of the south wales Valleys.
    Going from 37mb to 1Gb.

A company called Ogi Broadband installed the full fibre in my street (BT aren't coming to my area with it at all) but for some reason, YouFibre notified me the lines were active a week before Ogi did.

SO I talked to them, and they offered me a deal (as i was still with BT) that IF i signed on a 24 month contract, I can pay £1 per month for the first 12 months then £27 a month after that

    bargain!

They came, they installed the fibre into my office upstairs (I work from home) and fair play it's been superb!

They always email you when they are updating the lines/network, and it's not been down once.

As there's already a modem as part of it, you can pop it straight into any existing network (I have Google Nest router and points setup) and it works.

It's also one of the Few networks that's asynchronous, which means it's the same down as it is up (so im on 955 down and up).

It's also just Internet. No upselling of any kind and there's no restrictions (so they don't block sites) as that's up to you on your own router etc.

Yes, they did give me an Amazon Eero 6+ but my Google Nest Wi-Fi setup was just as good.

I'm not got them but I've moved to Befibre which probably use the same methods as most of these small fibre companies do.
Ask them if they use shared public IP addresses from abroad.
Chances are they do like mine do, which can cause issues with geo location apps like 4OD which think you aren't in the UK as your public IP address is located abroad somewhere.
And also they will probably use CGnat leaving you unable to use port forwarding if that's something that you use.
Mine allow to have a static IP for an additional £4 a month but they don't tell you that beforehand.

Curious is there any difference between EE and BT with the broadband, or it’s identically the same with different price points?
